My songs are fictions of my true imagination. I have had many experiences in my 56 years. I have lost loved ones close to me. I have lost material things. I have also gained much. I have learned that right now is what’s important. Are you happy now. Tomorrow guarantees nothing , not even the promises you have made. One thing for sure when you leave this earth you will be remembered or forgotten for one thing or another. You can determine what that will be. I have the opportunity of listening to the heart beats of the world and through music & art share it back with the world. my music has been and is a medicine to many souls and like a doctor I continue to explore the possibilities for new cures. The best medicine is LOVE

Artist Gallery My music and I have changed over the years. The experiences I have also change with time. This is what keeps the songs coming. There will always be something to write about.. The future is a dream we have both day and night. The past is a memory. The present is the result of both.. We can create our path one brick at a time. Our bricks are moments. We can build a future with moments. We can celebrate the monuments that moments have built. Charles Lucky Gibbs 

About The Artist

There is a scripture that says, "your gift will make room for you." I have found that to be true. This is a story

About a painting I did of Marvin Gaye. My Uncle, Wilson "Mickey" Smith, the one that established the Congressional Medal of Honor Monument in Wilmington, Delaware; had developed a relationship with Marvin Gaye and his family. During this relationship, my family got to produce songs in Marvin Gaye's Recording Studio in Compton, California - Cash Studios. I remember Marvin Gaye's nephew Tony Houston sound engineered for us. I had written a few good songs and my Uncle thought it was worth while laying them down in the studio. I remember getting the opportunity to go over to Marvin Gaye's house where Uncle Mickey had a meeting with Marvin Gaye's sister, Jean Houston, Tony's Mother. Uncle Mickey wanted to show her one of my first songs, "Wanting You". We sat with Ms. Jean for a moment while Uncle Mickey explained the song to Ms. Jean and what he wanted her to do.

Incarcerated Society. The compositions of poetry on this album reflect cause & effect. The cause. Greed ,Slavery & The quest for domination. The effects the actions and reactions of a so called black man in the United States of America through both positive and negative circumstances. I didn’t want to share this album any more, I didn’t feel the need. Well all that has changed. I was just riding down the road from where I live my wife and I. We happened to Cruz past this rather nice Mercedes Benz . The White guy in the passenger seat sticks his head out the window And shouts Nigger!

Music is the freeway to the heart

My brother Mississippi Will & myself had not seen one another for a few years. He looked me up one day and immediately we locked down in the studio and start cranking out tracks. One right after the other. Day and night . We would eat crash. Willie would report to duty on the base. When he got off we were at it again. Now we have 2morrow 2day. The music in this catalog spans Over the course of about 25 years 1979 through 2013

He had to convince her to let me play Marvin Gaye's antique, english style grand piano. Ms. Jean seemed to be

really intimidated by her father. Uncle Mickey finally convinced her to talk to her father and get permission to play the piano. Marvin Gaye's father finally came downstairs and he stood in the doorway of the ballroom style sitting room. Mr. Gaye looked me in my eyes and asked, "you the one wanna play this piano"? I said, "yes sir". Mr. Gaye responded and gestured to the piano saying, "let's hear whatcha got". I played and sang, "Wanting You", a song I wrote for, who at the time was a great friend of mine and the executive producer of my recording project. When I finished playing and singing the song, I looked around at Mr. Gaye and his eyes were full of tears and he asked me, "did you write that song"? I said, "yes sir". Mr. Gaye then replied, "you know, that's what my son does". I had a questionable expression on my face because it suprised me that he would even think that I wouldn't know who Marvin Gaye was. I responded respectfully, "yes sir, I know who Marvin Gaye is." I was inspired from that encounter to paint a picture of Marvin Gaye. I had already painted one for Stevie Wonder and Chaka Kahn and those are stories you'll hear about later. By the time I completed the painting of Marvin Gaye, I had establised a relationship with Warner Brothers Records. Uncle Mickey inspired me to pursue submitting my songs to the Record Industry. This was the beginning of the Music Industry's recognition of me as a composer, recording and performing artist. I had accumulated quite a catalog of songs by this point and Warner Brothers was always my choice of record companies. I had made a few phone calls to get familiar with the secretaries and the supporting staff in A&R, Artists and Repetoire. Once I was familiar enough, I decided I would pay them a personal visit. Armed with two boxes of cassettes with my original material on them, I had one song, "All Mine" in my walkman, the media player of the day. When I entered the lobby of Warner Brother Records in Burbank, California, I immediately went to the lobby phone and called downstairs to Benny Medina's office. When the A&R Assistant answered, I told her I was in the lobby to see Mr. Benny Medina. I tried to sound familiar and it worked because she came upstairs to see who I was. I immediately gave her my head phones to listen to my song, "All Mine". The A&R Assistant was very impressed with what she heard and then took my music and walkman downstairs to Mr. Medina. When she appeared again, she said, "they want to see you". I was introduced

to Benny Medina and two other A&R representatives. Mr. Medina asked me what I wanted to do with my music. I

told him I wasn't sure and I had hoped that they had an idea of what to do with me and my music. Benny decided he needed more time to evaluate my catalog. It was then I establised an A&R relationship with Eddie Singleton, who had just become A&R Assistant to Mr. Benny Medina. Benny Medina was Will Smith's Manager and it was his concept that began the show, "Fresh Prince of BelAir". At the time, Mr. Medina was and still is now, Jennifer (J.Lo) Lopez's Manager when she was in the movie, "Selena". Eddie Singleton, family friend of Benny's (son of Raynoma, first married to Mr. Berry Gordy and former Manager of Motown Records) was taking me through the ropes and getting me familiar with how the industry works. On one occasion, when I was with Eddie, he took me to his Aunt's house and this Aunt turned out to be Anna Gordy-Gaye; Marvin Gaye's first wife and Berry Gordy's sister. I met her and Marvin Gaye, Jr., Marvin Gaye's son. I thought, wow! - this is a great time to present my paintng. Eddie's idea was to present it for her birthday. So, Eddie arranged it and I presented it to her in her home, where it presently is in the Hollywood Hills, California... This is a picture of the original oil painting.
