Quarterly Report Q3 2018

“ We are thrilled to accept the prestigious award for 2018 Chamber of the Year. We could not have accomplished this without the support of our dedicated members, phenomenal group of volunteer leaders and 34 hard-working staff members who are passionate about the work that we do.” Bryan Derreberry

President and CEO Charleston Metro Chamber

Everyone loves an award. Even more so when it reflects the hard work of a group working towards a common goal. That’s what happened on Wednesday, July 18. The Charleston Metro Chamber was recognized at ACCE’s National Convention in Des Moines, Iowa. Chamber of the Year is the nation’s only award recognizing the leadership role chambers have in their communities and excellence in operations, member services and community leadership. Those honored with the Chamber of the Year designation have demonstrated organizational strength and made an impact on key community priorities, such as education, transportation, business development and quality of life.

Yes, we’re still blushing. This recognition is a true testament of our Chamber’s efforts and undeniable impact on our region. Over the past several years, the Chamber’s work has been seen in: • The passage of the direly needed roads funding bill for the Charleston region’s infrastructure needs • Fueling a talent pipeline by providing our high school students the skills needed to work in our high-demand jobs • Igniting and inspiring our region’s leaders through programs like Leadership Charleston and Metro Leadership Visit

Being named Chamber of the Year is a rigorous process that includes a written application addressing all aspects of organizational operation and programmatic work. Applications are scored by peer chamber executives to determine finalists. Winners are selected from among finalists based on an in-person interview before a panel of experienced chamber professionals.

Of course, this award couldn’t have happened without all of our members and volunteer leaders, and their efforts. Thank you.
