KATHARINE FLANDERS

Impressionistic in her work, Croft arrived at her style after initially beginning with more realistic paintings that were strict in their use of color and technique. “As I’ve grown, I’ve moved to a much looser, more impressionistic style with more vibrant colors,” she notes.

Vibrant colors are something of a signature in Croft’s work, as is the passion that spills out onto the canvas. “I love that you can interpret art any way that you want,” she says. “I literally can create whatever I want on a blank canvas. Painting allows me to escape the real world and imagine something new. I can’t think about anything else when I’m painting except the color and composition. It takes me away from all other thoughts.”
