CHARLIE MARSHALL Creative Design Portfolio
ABOUT ME I am a Brighton based artist and designer with an incredibly broad range of experience. I believe that my varied background allows me to come up with unique solutions to any creative challenge. email: charlie.t.marshall @hotmail.co.uk tel: 07815031069 web: www.andcharlie.com
“Rosebud Sleds and Horses’ Heads presents incisive discussion of 50 of the most significant objects in cinema history and explores their importance within their films and within the popular imagination.
I was asked to illustrate this beautiful book capturing iconic moments from classic films. It was important to draw attention to the object whilst also providing its context.
HARVEY & JOHN “The Brighton based duo’s aim is not to create something that offers more beauty or function, it is to create something that offers more feeling.” I have worked on several projects alongside Harvey & John. The image behind was part of the Halloween lampshade I designed and developed the printing process for.
A quick remote control app for the giant chandelier project named ‘murmuration’. I used the shapes and movements to influence its design. I also worked on the chandelier itself which was a challenging combination of metal work, plastic molding and a lot of polishing. More information can be found at: www. harveyandjohn.com
BUSINESS PROPOSALS
I have worked on several different business proposals for a variety of briefs. The previous page features some of the artwork for the shop window of Lush on Oxford Street and this page features a few visualisations of installations for the Dubai horse racing World Cup.
The control and automation company GPS group commissioned me to designing charts, business proposals (above), adverts and logos. I worked closely with the company to ensure all information was correctly displayed and clearly communicating each stage of the project.
I’ve created a lot of adverts for online use and in print. I can utilise my animation skills to create movement in these and often enjoy the challenge of fitting information into a tight space in a clear and concise way.
RIVER ISLAND SET DESIGN
I worked alongside Thomas Bird (www. thomas-bird.co.uk) to put together the set for River Islands summer fashion film. I was involved in painting the huge set with a concrete effect and arranging the units throughout filming. The final film can be seen here - http://www.thomasbird.co.uk/RIVER-ISLAND
ANIM ATION
I really enjoy creating animations and have a good working knowledge of AfterEffects and a variety of animation techniques.
