APPEARANCE CODE
Charlotte Christian students are required to dress modestly and neatly, as appropriate for a particular occasion, and in a manner that is not distractive to the learning environment or that draws undue attention to themselves. Please access the Student Expectations, Honor and Appearance Code on the school website for specific information about the school’s appearance code. The form can be found in the Parent Portal under School Forms.
CAMPUS SECURITY
Between the hours of 8:15 a.m. - 2 p.m., entrance B, by the administration building, is the only entrance by which traffic may enter and leave the campus. All other entrances will be closed.
These should be placed on the inside windshield, in the lower right-hand corner on the passenger side of your car. Anyone not having this decal may be stopped by security. Campus security is provided by off-duty Charlottte Meckelenburg Police Officers who are on campus during the day and into the evening.
DINING HALL
Charlotte Christian partners with Flik Dining Services to provide a healthy lunch for each student with the cost of lunch included in tuition. Flik’s numerous daily offerings include three hot entrees, salad bar, deli bar, and fresh soups. Healthy breakfast options are available for purchase for all students and mid-morning snack options are available for middle and upper students using a prepay account. Breakfast is served from 7:15 - 8 a.m., mid-morning break from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and lunch is served from 11 a.m. – 1:40 p.m. Healthy afternoon snacks are also available for purchase in the dining hall beginning at 3:30 p.m. Dining hall information is located on the website under the parent portal. Parents can click on “Dining Hall” to access menus and information about the Café PrePay system which allows parents the opportunity to check their child’s purchase history, see the account balance, and add money to their account.
FAMILY HANDBOOK
The Charlotte Christian School Family Handbook is located on the school website under the parent portal and inlcudes a complete guide for school policies and procedures. In addition, the Community Directory can be found online and is also published in a pocket-size book in August of each year.
HEALTH ROOM
A student health form, documenting a student’s health history, allergies, and emergency contact numbers, must be completed yearly by a parent and kept on file in the health room. Teachers are not responsible for handling and administering medications unless specific instructions are provided for off-campus school functions (i.e. field trips). MORNING ARRIVAL
Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Teachers will have their rooms open and ready for students by 7:45 a.m. each morning. Students should not arrive prior to 7:30 a.m. and cannot be the responsibility of the school. Students arriving between 7:30 - 7:45 a.m. should report to the Early Education Building multipurpose room which opens at 7:30 a.m. They will be taken to the classrooms at 7:45 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8 a.m. Grades 1-5: Teachers will have their rooms open and ready for students by 7:35 a.m. Children should not arrive prior to 7:15 a.m. and cannot be the responsibility of the school. Students arriving between 7:15 - 7:35 a.m. should report to the dining hall. They will be taken to their rooms at 7:35 a.m. and should enter rooms quietly, take care of their books and materials, and begin to work quietly at their seats. Classes begin at 7:45 a.m. Students arriving between 7:46 - 8 a.m. will be counted tardy but should report directly to their classroom. Students arriving after 8 a.m. should report directly to the lower school office to receive an admit slip to their classroom. Parents will be alerted if a tardiness problem develops. Grades 6-12: The dining hall opens at 7:15 a.m. for early arrival students. The middle school and upper school hallways also open at 7:15 a.m. Classes begin at 7:45 a.m. for middle school students and 8 a.m. for upper school stuents. Students arriving after 8 a.m. should report to the school office for an admit slip. Middle school students must be signed in by a parent or guardian.
ONLINE SCHOOL STORE
Charlotte Christian spirit wear is available through the Knights Online Store which can be accessed through the school website. The online store offers a wide selection of apparel and gifts and offers personalization with the various co-curricular activities. A small selection of youth and adult items are also availble for purchase on the top floor of the Administration Building.
PARENT COMMUNICATIONS
Charlotte Christian has multiple ways for you to receive information and stay in the loop! The Focus: A weekly newsletter sent via e-mail on Fridays to all families. The Focus is the primary means of communicating important information parents and students need to know and act on in the coming weeks. In additon, it recognizes student and school achievement. School webSite: www.charlottechristian.com You will receive instructions including an ID and password that will allow you to login to the Parent Portal side of the website. Priority Communications: The Priority Communications System is used for all-school communication. This includes the electronic telephone message system, all-school e-mails, phone calls from teachers and administrators, messages on the school’s website, messages on the school’s answering machine, and family-to-family communications. The contact information for the electronic telephone message system, the dining hall balance notification 2
system and the all-school e-mail distribution comes from the family profile information that is entered when a family signs on to the Charlotte Christian website. The Voice: A school magazine that strives to capture the essence of our school, published two times during the school year. The Lancer: A newspaper published monthly by upper school students that reports on the life of Charlotte Christian School upper school. The Accolade: The annual yearbook publication distributed to students in May of each year. The Accolade is a year-long upper school student project, highlighting the entire school community, events and accomplishments. Each family receives one copy of the Accolade and may order additional copies.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Lower and middle school parent/teacher conferences are held following the first quarter of classes. Middle school conferences are student-led. Please note conferences can be scheduled at anytime throughout the year by contacting the teacher directly or through the division office.
PARENT TEACHER FELLOWSHIP
The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) at Charlotte Christian School serves to advance the mission of the school by encouraging faculty, staff and administrators in their efforts to impact each student spiritually, intellectually, and physically. PTF organizes and supports activities that foster meaningful parent relationships in the Charlotte Christian Community, and celebrates as well as promotes our wonderful legacy and school spirit. All Charlotte Christian parents are a part of Parent Teacher Fellowship and encouraged to be involved in an area of interest. PRAYER
Join your fellow prayer warriors to lift up Charlotte Christian and the needs of the school community in prayer. Parents are invited to attend weekly prayer meetings on Thursdays at 8 a.m. at the Charlotte Christian Swim and Tennis Center.

LUNCH & RECESS SCHEDULE
Lunch schedules vary from class to class, but are generally between 11a.m. and 1 p.m. each day. Parents are invited to join students for lunch. Please call the school office the morning of your visit so proper planning can be made. Parents should obtain a visitor’s badge from the school office upon arrival on campus. Recess schedules vary from class to class, but are generally offered one or two times per day.
NETCLASSROOM The lower school sponsors a number of cocurricular activities. Book clubs, chess, karate and photography are just some of the unique offerings for after school at Charlotte Christian School. Please contact the lower school for a complete listing of offerings.

Lower school students must be picked up at dismissal time, registered in a co-curricular activity or club, or registered in the Extended Day program. Grades JK-5 students are not allowed to roam campus after school without adult supervision. This includes playgrounds, dining hall, and the library. SUMMER READING
The lower school encourages summer reading for all students. Parents should monitor the student’s summer reading to ensure that the goals of the summer reading program are accomplished. Refer to the school website under each division for specific summer reading assignments for each grade in the lower school. Please visit the website for Summer Reading information.
VISION SCREENINGS
In the fall, vision screenings are completed for every other grade from K - 5. Parents will be notified by phone if the findings are noteworthy. Any student may have a vision screening upon request. Please notify the health room to request a screening.

Development Tuition dollars do not cover 100 percent of your child’s education. Offering the best comprehensive, college preparatory education we can drives our fundraising efforts to cover additional expenses and needs. We trust in God’s provision through the generosity of many for this additional support. To keep our community informed of these opportunities to enrich our student’s educational and co-curricular activities, the development office organizes various fundraising efforts. Our community is one that practices good stewardship and embraces the spirit of generosity. Stewardship for us is the mindful and responsible care we give to managing tuition dollars and contributions. We desire to honor God by achieving the greatest level of impact for each dollar entrusted to the school. The Bible provides a significant level of wisdom on the benefits of living a generous life. Our desire is to help donors understand the significant difference their contributions make and the joy that comes from living a life of generosity.
Our Goals in Fundraising •
We believe in practicing the highest standards in fundraising that reflect Biblical principals and professional ethics. “A good name is more desirable than great riches.” Proverbs 22:1
• We believe that money generously given by our constituency ultimately belongs to God; therefore, every penny should be managed and spent carefully. “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2 • We believe that keeping our constituency aware of the financial needs of Charlotte Christian School is a critical component of practicing good stewardship. •
We believe that prayer is an essential element in meeting Charlotte Christian School’s needs. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…to him be glory.” Ephesians 3:20-21
• We believe building strong relationships with our constituency is the principal goal of all fundraising activities. •

• We believe our donors should be respected, acknowledged and that properly expressing our gratitude to a donor is both a privilege and an obligation. 8
Opportunities to give Annual Quality Plus Fund – Support to the annual fund touches the lives of every student. Funds raised are used to provide new curriculums and educational resources, educational technology, professional development for faculty and staff, campus improvements and resources for fine arts and athletics. Capital Campaign, Lighting The Way – Donations to this campaign have provided an addition to our upper school and many wonderful renovations. A few of the areas renovated include the nurse’s office, athletic training room, physical education locker rooms, team locker rooms, and weight training facility. The Guy Family Gymnasium was also fully renovated providing a quality facility for lower school physical education classes, team practices, and competitions. In the fall of 2012 a new Athletic Center will open at the Guy Gymnasium. When complete, this facility will offer a multipurpose room for wrestling, cheerleading, and various other school activities; a locker room for football, lacrosse, and wrestling; a classroom, along with new athletic offices and provide public restrooms. This phase 4 project will also expand the Guy Gymnasium. The next phase of the campaign will provide a classroom facility for the lower and middle school students. COMMUNITY LOGIn Parents, students, alumni and employees may access the password-protected side of our website to locate information that is not available to the public. E-mails with login information are sent during the summer based on completion of final admission requirements. Each user has a separate set of login information. To log in from our homepage, enter your username and password in the Community Login section. Upon sign in you will see the Parent Portal that houses different sections to view. Website Navigation • About Us: This menu item includes links regarding our school’s mission, administration and board as well as the general school year calendar, annual report, Voice publication, and other information pertinent to the entire school community and public. • Admissions: This section of the website has detailed information about the admissions process and forms you need to complete to finalize your enrollment. • Academics: This menu item includes links for academic resources such as our tutoring program and course curriculum, accreditation, awards and recognitions, personnel, the school’s principles of Christian education as well as information on each school division. • School Division: Each school division has a section which includes the curiculum, daily schedule and activities and clubs that relate to that division. Each week our e-newsletter the Focus is sent to parents noting important upcoming dates with links to each school division’s Focus. Other links are included as appropriate for that division and as needed throughout the school year. • Athletics: Here you will find links about athletic events and the athletic staff for our Knights. Forms for athletic participation are found here. • Fine Arts: This menu item will inform you of all that is happening with our music program, our theatre program and visual arts program including photo galleries of student work. Fine arts events including rehearsal calendars and an overview of the fine arts program are available. • Spiritual Life: This menu item will inform you of all that Charlotte Christian offers to foster and develop spiritual life including the curriculum taught from a Biblical worldview as well as programs and mission opportunities available for students to impact the culture for Christ. • Campus Life: This menu item will inform you of all that is happening with student life on campus, from student achievements to the apperance code to co-curricular offerings and annual events. • Support Christian: This link provides you with ways you can support Charlotte Christian School through the Quality Plus annual fund, the Charlotte Christian Golf Challenge and more. • Parent Portal: This menu item includes links to the class homework and grade site, NetClassroom, weekly dining hall menu, Parent Teacher Fellowship, calendar information, vital news from the nurses in the Health Room, volunteer opportunities, and online resources.
