WELCOME

Welcome! I’m delighted to welcome you to today’s Youth Orchestras concert. At the Charlotte Symphony, we believe that access to a robust music education inspires in students a love of music that will last a lifetime, provides them with countless hours of joy and comfort, and builds in them a strong sense of character, discipline, commitment, and community. And I can think of no better example of this than watching the incredible achievements of our Youth Orchestra participants. The inspiring group of young musicians that you will hear today received guidance from Music Director Christopher Warren-Green; our highly skilled conducting staff, including Christopher James Lees and Eric Thompson; and from CSO musicians, who serve as coaches. In addition to regular rehearsals, students have attended masterclasses given by guest artists performing with the Symphony, like violinist Paul Huang and cellist Christine Lamprea, and recently, they attended seminars on college preparedness, culminating in mock auditions. We are all extremely proud of their hard work and dedication. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of parents and families and without the generous donors to the Charlotte Symphony. Thank you for being here today to hear these talented young musicians and for supporting the future of music in our community. Enjoy the performance!

The CSO is…

MORE THAN WHAT’S ONSTAGE.

Did you know that the Charlotte Symphony is much more than what you see on the Belk and Knight Theater stages? Beyond the Classical, Pops, Family, and Movie Series in the theaters, we work to uplift, entertain, and educate our community through inclusive education programs and community performances. • The CSO has three programs for young musicians: the Youth Orchestra, the Youth Philharmonic, and the Youth Ensemble. CSO musicians participate in coaching throughout the year, and even perform with the young musicians! • Reaching approximately 15,000 students each season, we also have extensive school programs, including Project Harmony, “Music and the Holocaust,” and “One Musical Family” Education Concerts. • We perform throughout the region, from community parks and schools to breweries, senior care centers, and places of worship all season long.

The CSO is…FOR EVERYONE. 4 program
