We often use the phrase without ever stopping
what those words
“You crack me up” to think about really mean.
Let’s take the time To think
here and now about the phrase “You crack me up”
When I or
it actually cracks m
listen to you chuckle hear your hearty belly laugh, e up.
Your laughter
a thousand fissures,
of the cosmos
breaks me into pieces,
that lets all the light in.
When the walls give way, With you. with me. together.
of myself I am free And you too are free We laugh
And, for an instant,
We swirl together
we are one.
in the selfless white light of the moment.
And all the gravity is lightened in that moment There, we are cracking up
of time and space the levity of of laughter. eternal, together.
And when the laughter we come back But with a different and a new from our shared
subsides, to ourselves. glow aura mirth
When we leave We carry each other within us our way
each other ‘s laughter and it lights in the darkness.
We’ll meet others who won’t share But we won’t mind the joke’s
along the road their laughter. because we know on them.
About the Authors JaNus is a writing and art collaborative between Jason Blasso and Niall Twohig. Together, the two, at times, produce surreal and scatological works of depth and humor by translating their third eye through their brown eye. They create as naturally as they defecate and hope you do too.
