THE TESSELLATED HIGHRISE year: 2014 instructor: Ca rl os Ba rri os typology: Mi xe d-U se This project started out with an intricate tessellation study based around a hexagon and its inner geometry. The design of the mixed-use highrise tower in New York City was developed from the tessellation and optimized for pre-cast concrete construction methods. The highrise is a combination of residential units and a recreation center, utilizing natural light and exterior spaces for city life.
