The world of children’ imagination is infinitely beautiful. Do you remember what you dreamt of when you were kids? Who you were in your imagination, what lands have you discovered? Do you remember how wonderful feeling is to be totally free and that there are no limits of your own dreams? Or maybe you can still feel it now? There are some wonderful people among us who can infiltrate

into children’s imagination and their world. Those people know the taste of adventure, airy moments and big hopes. How can you find those people, where are they in our world? Well, let me show you those beautiful photographs I found for you! I’m pretty sure you will love them from the very first moment - they are full of magic, mystery and charm. One of a kind - they are real images of children’s soul.

Lisa Holloway is a master of a picture. Her photographs are full of peace and power at the same time. They are beautiful, peaceful and full of gentleness, settled in pure nature with glorious natural light, with no extra additions. They are pure images of children’s sensitivity. Kasia Czarczyńska makes magic with her lenses. She shows an amazingly mysterious, magical world where prince wears rain boots and a bear understands all deepest hidden thoughts. We will find do much

emotions and power in those images - and so much gentleness above and beyond. Photographs created by Kasia Staniewicz (Footobiektywna) light our souls and fire up our imagination. Kasia doesn’t make photos - she paint them - just the way her imagination lead her. Every image is well-considered and yet full of magic and sensibility. She shows us that kids have their own wonderful, amazing world and she lets us in.

Do you believe in magic Magic is something we make. It’s in our photos and on paper pages in albums we create. We can find it in our memories because those are the most important for us. It’s so great to save them in scrapbook pages, albums and other projects. Take a look at our little gallery and see what other creative souls made to inspire you! Do I believe in magic? Sure I do! I create magic in my life by living with people who I adore, living the life I choose and doing things which make me happy. Everybody can feel magic, it is the way of life. Stop sometimes, take deep breath and look around – you are lucky to live your life, it’s kind of magic.

I think magic is everywhere in our life, if we want to www.etsy.com/fr/shop/ see it. I see magic in my daughters smile, in my husband AntonetZelie jokes, in my garden, and of course in my craft room ! It doesn’t have to be complicated things. I think anything beautiful we create with our heart and that makes us or anyone happy can be considered as magic. Creating lovely things from almost nothing but just a bit of colorful fabric, and giving them to my daughters to hear them say “Oh mum, that’s beautifuuuul, congrats! you’re the best !!!” is my magic and it makes me so happy. It brings beauty and joy to the world. Gaelle Fauglas

I have this unique luck to work the most inspiring and magic job there is. I’m a photographer. I catch snapshots of short moments, little gestures, beautiful colors and amazing moments. I catch dreams by accompanying people in their most beautiful moments as well as those simple ones. I love to share my photos with other people to inspire them and put a smile on their faces - this is magic to me.

Catch your Dreams photos: Kasia Przybyt text: Agnieszka Pietras

They say that a dream catcher only works when it’s a gift so why not to share some magic with someone special.

You will need: • yarn • cardboard to cut out the ring • stripes of fabric, ribbons • trinkets, feathers • scissors • needle and thread 26 Chasing Dreams #2/2014

Let’s start with collecting all the things that you can use in creating the dream catcher. These can be different yarns, stripes of leftover fabrics, some colorful ribbons, beads, shells, feathers and even some old pieces of faux jewelry.

1 To create a dream catcher we need a round base.

It’s easy to make one from a thick cardboard. You can use a compass or some round objects from your home to trace the circle that you’ll cut out with scissors. Be careful when cutting out the hole inside your base though :) Now that you have your base you can start covering it with yarn just by looping around the thread one loop next to the other. No glue needed, just make sure it’s quite tight and not sliding on your base.

2 When you covered the whole base with yarn

it’s time to make a web inside. Knot the yarn in one spot and now create several loops around the base to recreate the pattern you see in the pictures.

7

3 When you finish the first “line” of loops continue

making the web until you reach the center of the web. It helps to use a small ball of yarn to pull it through the loops. When you’re finished tie a tight knot and cut off the excess yarn.

4 Embellish the middle of the dream catcher by

sewing a small bead. It will catch the viewers eye :)

5

6 Now it’s time to tie the ribbons, twines, pieces

of fabric and other trinkets you’ve collected. I usually double knot everything trying to make flat knots so there’s no bulk added. When you’re don cut off the excess of fabrics and ribbons.

7 Last thing I did was to attach feathers. I used sharp

needle to pull the thread through the quill. When the feathers were attached to the string I tied it to the dream catcher. Oh and let’s not forget about adding a small piece of yarn at the top of your dream catcher so it’s easy to hang :)

some facts: • Dream catchers are originally made from a willow hoop and are meant to filter out the bad dreams from good ones; • In American Indian tradition every element of a dream catcher has a meaning from a round hoop representing sun and moon to even the tiniest beads in it; • They say that bad dreams arebig and sloppy that’s why they’re stuck in the web of a web catcher, they die with the rising sun and evaporate with morning mist; • A dream catcher should be hanged where the morning sun can find it; • Dream Catchers are not meant to keep long, the willow becomes brittle and strings brake this is to remind us that time is beyond us and nothing stays forever; Chasing Dreams #2/2014 29

The Magic of Pocket scrapbooking

#1/2014

We believe that everyday life is not ordinary, that in every day there’s something interesting, that magical things can happen if you really want to see them. We also want to grasp these moments and make them live forever. We take photos, we make scribbles, list and journal notes and then all of this finds it’s way to our albums. It is a wonderful keepsake for the future. Who knows if your grandchildren will sit one day and read it with blushes on their chicks? Today we will introduce to you some of our favorite, wonderful girls who tell you about their albums, show you their favorite pages and inspire you in hundred percents! Together with polish scrapbooking store - Scrapki.pl - we will show you how to you pocket scrapbooking goodies in a traditional way. Girls of Scrapki. pl Design Team will show you their ways to creat cards and layouts using pocket cards. Let us show what we got for you.

I have been doing project life for a couple of years now and I love that it continues to encourage me to print my photos and document those everyday moments that might have been lost forever if I didn’t write them down. My approach to project life has always been to keep it simple and stress-free. Overall my layouts are pretty simple so that I can keep the process as quick and easy as possible. This year I have also added more purpose and intent behind my photos. Each day I try to take at least one photo of something that I am grateful for. Sometimes it is as simple as my morning tea and other days it could be as big as my daughters smiles. By the end of each month I have a minimum of 30+ meaningful photos to document from. I also carry a small journal with me for jotting down things I want to remember, like something my girls said so when it comes time to pull my pages together I can look at my notes as reminders. I like to document what I can over a month verses week by week just because it fits better with my easy-going approach to documenting our life. I also like to break my process into easy to tackle chucks, for example; I will select and edit all my photos as I download them to my computer and store them in a folder for easy printing later. Next, I will then print everything on one day and assemble my pages on another day. Most importantly, I always remind myself of something Ali Edwards said, „There is no right or wrong way to preserve your memories.” - so true! The most important thing to remember when it comes to documenting, you have to find what works for you and be sure to keep it fun!

After almost four years of participating in Project Life® I’m still in love with it. I’m in love with telling random stories about everyday things. I’m in love with the pockets! I’m in love with being able to easily include memorabilia and the voices of others in my spreads. It adapts Marcy Penner www.marcypenner.com as I adapt. Case in point… right now we’re in the middle of a move and things are super crazy. As a result, my current spreads are very simple. Later on… once we’re settled maybe that will change. But either way it’s still going. I’m still telling stories, sharing photos and creating. Up until this year I’ve been creating weekly. And that worked great for me. But I needed a change. With that change came a new size (9x12) and a random approach. It took a little while for me to find my groove but I’m really loving this new format for our lives right now.

Tips and Tricks: - keep up with your photos. Print them on a regular basis and pop them in those pockets. Whenever it happens that you have time to work on a spread you’ll be ready to go. Even if you get behind (which I currently am) this is a HUGE timesaver. - have somewhere that people in your family know they can deposit paper bits and memorabilia. A tray in the kitchen… a file folder on the desk… whatever. - if you work weekly then consider sketching out your pockets ahead of time and using that to plan your pages. You won’t end up printing extra photos that you feel obligated to include. - journal daily. Even if it’s just in the corner of your planner at the end of the day. When you’re ready to work on that spread you’ll be thankfully you noted all those daily details. - focus on the everyday. The little things that don’t seem like big things. Those are the things you’ll want to look back on later and you’ll be thankful you recorded them.

Being a full time working mother to a wonderful 10 year old boy findingnana.com allows me to look at life at a different perspective as compared to when I was single. My son makes me want to be a better person and over the years I’ve learned to be more open, forgiving and at the same time enjoying every second of my life with my family, friends and my job. I wanted to document my dayto-day life in the same traditional way that we used to develop photos from film negatives in the good old days, and so this got me started with Project Life 3 years ago. I’m lucky to be blessed with good jobs over the years that allow me to travel to many different countries. I started taking LOTS of photos with my phone every single day; I print them and put those photos together in the PL page protectors. I love that Project Life allows me to document my photos and include my thoughts in the form of journaling. Every week I would put together my spreads, at the same time taking my time to enjoy looking through the photos as I work on my pages. With a busy work traveling schedule and dividing my time between my family and my job, I’ve learned to be very disciplined in keeping up with my PL documentation. I have a fix routine every week that works really well for me – make time to upload my photos to my computer, print them at home and they’re ready to be documented! I do this week after week, it becomes so easy and I enjoy it very much in this memory keeping through Project Life!

I make my Project Life only since the beginning of this year, but now can’t imagine my life without it. I am delighted by the fact that it allows me to quickly, easily and beautifully execute all our important moments and memories. It’s much easier than making a whole album at once! Besides, you can always experiment with designs of spreads depending on the mood. I run my project weekly, I try to keep up. During these six months, I developed several ways to make the process as quick and pleasant. First, I do not think every day about that I need to take a photo or some sort of record. On Sunday I just browse through all photos from the camera and phone and choose the ones that go to my project for the current week, the photos themselves already evoke the desired memories. Also worth to develop a way to print photos. Earlier I printed 2x2 square photos with ACDSee, now I print in black and white in size cards through Lightroom. I also decide in advance which cards I will use for the current spread - by Becky Higgins, Studio Calico or any other. This saves time searching for the necessary cards and materials. And of course I keep all the decorations in easily accessible places. And the main thing - I just have a great pleasure making it! And when I see how my husband read and watch spreads and cry - „I did not remember that!” - I know, that I do the right things.

Tips and Tricks 1) Before starting to work on a PL page I sketch my layout to see where I want to have my photos. 2) I focus my spread compositions around pops of color. 3) Stitching is always a good idea. It adds dimension to the pages. 4) I love using alphabet thickers & stamping as embellishments.

I’m a girl who loves to take photos and I love to have a time with a cup of coffee. Oh, a cup of coffee with big crème is ‘a sweet present’ to me. My scrapbooking & Project Life are almost all Eunyoung Lee about single lady’s life (and my adventures eyoung-craft.blogspot.kr with friends). What I like the most about pocket scrapbooking are the “visible memories” that I capture in my album. For me Project life is like a photo diary. Since I was 13 years old, I’ve kept a diary and this was always a big part of my daily life. Now PL is a new colorful & visible diary to me! My spread workflow depends on the amount of photos I make usually creating monthly spreads.

Hey, I’m Tracy! I’m 26 and I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I’ve been pocket scrapbooking for just over a year and a half and I absolutely love it! It’s just me and my dog so she’s heavily featured in my spreads but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like to use black and white with pops of color and a lot of gold details. I can usually be found drinking lots of coffee, listening to music and cuddling with my pup.

I love pocket scrapbooking, truthfully it’s the only way I’ve ever scrapbooked. I love that I can just print and cut photos to fit the pockets. I know what sizes I’ll need and it’s super easy. I do Project Life, but I do it in a „go with the flow” approach so I just add things as they happen. If I want to have one whole spread dedicated to one day, I can! It’s so freeing to not stick to a weekly format. My biggest tip would be to just have fun with it! Don’t stress yourself out, don’t compared yourself to others. Make your album about you and do it in your own style. It’s a reflection of you and your life!

Some time ago I fell in love with Project life and you can find the cards almost constantly on my desk. And although they are usually used inside the pockets but not for me :) More and more they find its way in different projects, I look for other uses than the album. For example in this page I used one of the Becky Higgins cards became one of the main elements of this LO’s composition. I really recommend this kind of experiments with PL cards - they are more universal than you might think.

First - I have a confession to make - Project Life is not really my thing. I’ve tried it and I guess I’m not organized and patient enough to keep it regularly. Also - my style is rather layered, bulky and full of mixed-media. It’s hard for me to make a pocket scrapbooking - I feel too limited. But - as I bought some beautiful cards for Project Life I discovered that they can be a great embellishment for many different paper crafts. I use them on my layouts, cards and art-journals. They are cute and small - I especially like the cards for „Albums made easy” by We R Memory Keepers, which are inspired by Instagram photos. You can make the whole composition on them. You can mix them together, cut out some elements - it’s easy and fun.

46 Chasing Dreams #2/2014

On my cards I used pocket scrapbooking cards from few different We R Memory Keepers sets. I combined them with some beautiful scrapbooking papers, some die-cut elements, flowers, brads and of course a little bit of media. I always feel better when there is some paint or some spontaneous splashes on my works :)

I love documenting my life this way. I just started my 3rd album and believe me - this is the best thing I’ve ever created for myself. I love looking back at last year’s pages and the only thing I regret is that I haven’t started it earlier. The idea of keeping memories, photos and journaling inside plastic sleeves is just brilliant! Back when I was a little girl I had my own photo albums that I could draw and write on it. Now I can do the same thing with pretty cards and embellishments! During this one full year I do my album, I discovered best ways for me to keep it as simple and easy as it’s possible. I take a lot pictures during the week, it’s not only a part of my job but also a way to develop my skills every single day. At the end of each week, on Sunday evening I take a moment to sit down in front of my computer and select photos from my camera and phone. I usually pick up 3-4 4x6” pictures and 8 small square 3x3” pictures. Then I send them to my nearest print store and the next day I have them ready to use! I’m trying to be as timeous as I can, usually I’m one week behind. I collect memorabilia like tickets, notes and labels from all places I went or that someone gave me. I’m really excited about every week since I’ve started my album, I plan it more carefully, I see more details in each day, I care for small things. I think my life become better!

What do you see in your mind when you think the word „picnic”? For us it’s an unusual occasion to meet with friends. Fresh air, nature all around, good food, funny chit chat and games. And it’s not true that picnics are reserved for Spring-Summer season. You just need a sweater and a thermos filled with spiced tea and your ready for a fall picnic. Autumn is rich in colors and delicious fresh products.

in a mood for moodboard

F

or this issue we chose a nice, warm palette of colors, which are perfect for autumn projects. We are waiting impatiently for winter but it’s so good to look back at our fall photos and bring memories back, right? In our moodboard you will find few examples of wood pattern which we both absolutely love! Also a little bit of teal adds a nice and fresh touch to the warm, autumn shades in the moodboard. Yellow is very energetic and reminds us that there is always a place for a piece of sunshine! Take a look what our guests made for our gallery and be inspired! Chasing Dreams #2/2014 65

Magda Mizera I love moldboards! This is such a great source of inspiration when you have a problem with finding the best way to create a project. This time I got inspired by amazing colors I found on that moodboard: teal, blush pink and a fit of yellow. I tried to match those colors together and they turned out to be a perfect match. I love working on white base so they could pop out even more! I focused on mint/teal colors and that’s why you can see it in title, paper and wash tapes. Also, I saw this beautiful picture of books in the middle of the moodboard and I thought it will look fun if I arrange papers under the photo just like that.

What I wanted to try the most was to use plum color from the moodboard.

Kasia Przybyt Constructing this moodboard was fun but using it to create a scrapbook page was even better. What I wanted to try the most was to use plum/purple color in my page - I never use it and it’s a shame because it’s such a nice shade. The other thing I thought when looking on our inspiration was fall, all the warm colors, and wood textures, this is where the idea for a LO came. I was also inspired by the grid look of our moodboard which I tried to recreate in my page by dividing it in two planes and adding rectangular shapes in form of photos and layers of scrapbook paper.

Shanna Noel Moodboards are such a fun way to get started with any project. I love that they are sort of like a recipe card that you can pull from here and there and come up with your own creation. I LOVE the colors in this moodboard and had fun with the challenge of playing with some new colors (plum) as well as some of my faves ( mustard and teal) the combination really popped off the page. With the addition of the woodgrain I thought it had this whimsical woodsy feel so I went with flowers and butterflies. Since I didn’t have a lot of plum embellishments I decided to die-cut some leaves and flowers to support my photo. From there I just played with movement on the page trying to balance the color and feel of the page with the moodboard.Â

Anna-Maria Hokkanen I like working with moodboards when I’m in a mood to create something but don’t really know where to start. Moodboards are a fast and easy way to get inspired. I like to look up inspiring photos and images and use details, moods or colors of them in my projects. Many times the original idea changes on the way and sometimes you probably don’t even see the connection between the original images and the finished project, but it’s the initial inspiration that counts. I really had fun working with this moodboard. There were many colors and details I was inspired about. I wanted to use many of the colors, wooden textures, arrows, flowers, paints and overall summery mood in my page too!

Sandra Dietrych I haven’t used mood boards a lot to get inspired for my scrapbooking pages. However, I liked the challenge to create something based on a mood board. What I immediately liked about this one was the combination of yellow and greenish color tones as well as the garland and the flowers. I think mood boards can be a great source of inspiration in terms of combining colors or using certain elements on a layout. It can also help you to step out of your comfort zone to try out new things and incorporate colors and elements you’ve never used before. I’ve never created a mood board myself and I admire people who can do this.

I started digscrapping in 2008 when my son was born, between the crying and endless nursing (yes I had one of THOSE babies‌ ;-) ). I desperately needed a creative outlet and scrapping was a great way to do something for me. What I love most about scrapbooking is that it combines my 4 biggest loves: my family, photography, design and typography.

I’ve been scrapping for quite a long time now and I lived in 3 countries during this period: Thailand, Japan and now South Korea. I love to scrap about my family esp my kids, they are my everything and I am their storyteller. Digital scrapbooking really helps me keep my sanity, it releases some stress in everyday life. Susanne Liedtke

I started scrapping in 2010. I never really tried traditional scrapbooking. I’m a 100% digiscrapper. For me it’s perfect that I can move around every little element as long as I like on my layout. I can mix and match everything as long as I want and it’s so easy to change things to find the final composition. Chasing Dreams #2/2014 83

Sue Falstaff

falstaff-folly.blogspot.co.uk

I’ve always been the creative type; whether it be through digiscrapping, card making, papercrafting or baking. I love making things that make other people smile, and whilst some of my creative outlets may have taken a “back seat” over the years, digiscrapping has remained my favorite way of expressing my creativity. I’m not really a “big event” scrapper. Instead, I prefer to browse through my Instagram account (@suefalstaff) to find photos I then want to create a LO about. The things I scrap about are the normal, routine, day-2-day things. The things that some take for granted, but that I don’t want to forget, and believe me, with a memory like mine, that’s bound to happen sooner rather than later!

I started scrapbooking in 2000 and was completely paper, until we moved to a small 2 bedroom apartment with 3 kids under the age of 5 who wouldn’t keep out of my paper stash!! I went digital to save my supplies and my sanity! I love the absolute freedom of digital - being able to change sizes and tweak colors with just the click of a mouse. 84 Chasing Dreams #2/2014

My love of scrapbooking started with construction paper, rubber cement and those patterned scissors in college. I went through a cross stitch and a quilting phase before learning to paper scrap with a friend. I switched over to the dark side (digi) in 2008 and have not looked back. I consider myself a storyteller first and foremost and am passionate about leaving a legacy in photos and words for future generations. When my children and others look through the many albums on the shelves, I want them to be able to know how I felt, what I was about and just how very much I loved them and my life. It’s my way of giving them a peek inside my heart.

I’ve discovered digital scrapbooking a few month ago while browsing the internet. First of all, I found One Little Bird, whom I know from Gossamer Blue Design Team. I loved every single project she made and every single kit she designed. So I thought why not give it a try! I loved the fact I could easily moved and change my design without losing any materials. This page is my favorite - I’ve made it this summer while watching my favorite sport game - football (or soccer). I loved watching matches during the evening, drinking cold beer and relaxing on the couch! This is my kind of happy time, I guess ;)
