The geoglyphs depict living creatures, stylized plants and imaginary beings, as well as geometric figures several kilometers long. They are believed to have had ritual astronomical functions. Appreciate them from the sky in an overflight.

COLCA CANYON TOUR (2D / 1N)
AREQUIPA
The Colca Canyon is one of the deepest places on the planet, reaching a depth of 3400 meters / 11.155 feet at the lowest point in the location of Canco. The canyon is home to the Andean Condor, the region's most popular attraction; these giant birds can be seen at close range as they fly past the canyon walls. The Colca Valley is a colorful Andean valley with pre– Inca roots and towns founded in Spanish colonial times, still inhabited by people of the Collagua and the Cabana cultures.
will be “Pata Pampa” located at 4,820 meters, where we´ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca – Hualca, Mismi (the source of the Amazon River) and the “Cordillera de Chila”. Close to the town of Chivay, we will admire the spectacular multicolor views of the Colca Valley terraces. In the afternoon we can take a dip in the local hot thermal baths, for dinner go for a llama steak while enjoying Andean music.
Day 1 Departing from Arequipa we will drive 160km to the picturesque village of Chivay, capital of the Province of Caylloma. At the beginning of our excursion we will enjoy the majestic views of the Misti, Chachani and PichuPichu volcanoes; approaching the National Reserve of “Pampa Cañahuas” our transportation will make a short stop to observe the wild Vicuñas (the most important American camel) in its natural habitat. At this point we will be around 3,400 meters above sea level. Then we will head to Pata Wasi, an Andean community at the opposite border of the reserve. Here we will see the natural formation of rocks and the backside view of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To prevent altitude sickness we will have “Mate de Coca” drink in Sumbay at 3,800 meters. Continuing on the road we will pass through “Tocra” over the 4,500 meters, where we will observe lakes with migrant birds and take pictures of the “Altiplano” with its Llamas and Guanacos. AMANTANI, TAQUILE & UROS ISLAND TOUR (2D / 1N)
PUNO Our program includes the visit to the Uros floating Islands, a small community that has lived on reed Islands for decades. This journey will take us also to the Amantani Island, an Andean community where you will learn to dance Andean music in an evening party with the locals and spend the night in a rural house provided by a native family. Our tour on the Lake Titicaca ends with the visit to Taquile Island, a traditional quechua speaking community, full of ancient agricultural terraces and ruins dating back to the pre-Inca times. Day 1 After visiting the reed Uros islands you will head to Amantani island wich is located 26 miles (38 Km) away from the city of Puno (3 ½ hours). Because of a more distant location, tourism on the island of Amantani has not developed in the same way as in Taquile Island. The main difference is that homestays have remained a more authentic cultural experience in Amantani. The 3,600 inhabitants of this island have also a Quechua origin and they are mainly small farmers. A visit to Amantani necessarily implies to stay one night on the island. The houses are very simple and services are
basic. There is no running water, no electricity and of course no comfortable toilets or showers. This homestay experience and the encounter with the host family is a revelation of the reality of Andean people at such altitude. This cultural exchange experience in Amantani is very touching and fascinating. We have called this tour “CULTURAL” because every traveler is welcome to share with the locals their time, some artistic gift, educational activities or just a nice chat. In the afternoon you can play football with the locals and at night you can dress yourself with a traditional outfit (given by the families) to dance with the locals at a party. Day 2 The next day we say goodbye to the families and walk down to the peer. We head then to the island of Taquile, here you walk along a narrow path enjoying the impressive views of Lake Titicaca. At the top you will have time to wander around and to shop at a local craftsmen market; the weaving tradition of Taquile dates back to early civilizations. After a typical lunch we descent to the harbor and take the boat back to Puno.
Departure: 7:30am Included: –Transfers –Accommodation (Homestay) –Bilingual Guide –Entrance fees –Meals in Amantani (L – D – B)
