OPENING TIPS - Chattanooga won 19 of its last 24 games en route to a 22-10 record. The team’s six-game winning streak was snapped in the Southern Conference Championship quarterfinals. - Matt McCall was introduced as the 19th head coach in Chattanooga history on Monday, April 13. He joins the Mocs from the University of Florida where he was an assistant coach for the past four seasons under Billy Donovan. This is his first head coaching position. - Former coach Will Wade left to head the VCU program. This season Wade became the fourth Mocs coach with 40 wins in his first two seasons. He joins Mack McCarthy (42), Ron Shumate (40) and Jeff Lebo (40). - The squad had two winning streaks of five or more games. Last time the Mocs had two streaks of five or more wins in the same season was 1996-97 (11 & 7). - The Mocs lose three seniors: Ronrico White (11.1 ppg, 3.3 apg, 35.4% 3pt), Martynas Bareika (3.6 ppg, 18.9 pts/40 min) and Lance Stokes (1.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg). - The program returns four starters: Casey Jones (14.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 51.9% FG), Greg Pryor (11.3 ppg, 2.5 apg, 37.9% 3pt), Justin Tuoyo (10.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.3 bpg, 53.8% FG) and Tre’ McLean (4.3 ppg, 3.0 rpg). Also back are top sixth man Eric Robertson (8.8 ppg, 46.8% 3pt), Duke Ethridge (5.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg), Chuck Ester (3.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg), Alex Bran (1.6 ppg) and K.J. It’s the first time since 1993-94 that the squad clinched 20 wins in the regular season. - 22 wins ranks 11th on the season wins list at UTC: 1) 27 (1976-77 & 1981-82) 3) 26 (1982-83 & 1992-93) 5) 24 (1983-84, 1984-85, & 1996-97) 8) 23 (1975-76, 1991-92, 1996-97) 11) 22 (2014-15) - The 22 regular season wins ranks tied for the fourth-highest in school history. Three squads (1982, 1983 & 1993) each tallied 23 wins. The 1977 NCAA DII Nat’l Champs also won 22 prior to the postseason. - The 20 DI regular season wins ties the school record originally set in 1987. - UTC has won 20 or more 18 times now with six more 19-win campaigns. SOCON NOTES - Led the league in blocks (6.3 per game) and attendance (3,233). The Mocs’ attendance of 33,092 (3,677 avg) in nine league contests was greater than the TOTAL number for six league schools: Wofford (27,030), The Citadel (21,292), VMI (21,002), Western Carolina (18,634) Furman (16,770), and Samford (13,893). - Individual league leaders: Eric Robertson, 3pt% (46.8) and Justin Tuoyo, blocks (3.3). - The 15 SoCon wins marks just the fourth time (1982, 1983, 1993) the program has won 15 league contests. There have been fewer than 15 total contests in 10 seasons. Seventh time the Mocs won 14 or more league games in a season: 1982 (15-1), 1983 (15-1), 1985 (14-2), 1987 (14-2), 1993 (16-2), 1994 (14-4). - 15-3 record in league play is the best since 1992-93 (16-2). - Justin Tuoyo is the second straight Moc (Z. More on Tuoyo’s “Block Party” on page 3. - Tuoyo and Casey Jones each earned All-SoCon honors from the league coaches.
