STRUCTURAL CONCEPT

The existing structure of the Singapore Flyer is relatively flexible so the roof suspended from the columns would be subject to very large deflections. The existing structure should therefore be stiffened to support the roof. This could be achieved by attaching per-stressed cables to the masts which are anchored to the ground. The roof could then be suspended from separate cables also attached to the masts. The masts will be reinforced to bear the significant increase of bending stresses in the masts due to the pre-stress in the stiffening cables and the weight of the roof.

After industrialization, many people moved into urban areas, such as Seoul. The city is overpopulated and people destroy the nature indiscriminately. In agriculture areas, farmers spray agricultural chemicals to getting the products quickly. As time goes by, city people want to get the natural products and be closer to nature. As a result, through things such as community gardens, people make green space and find organic foods. As many people’s needs increase in this area products distribution has been revitalized and it is getting stimulated.

Why does the skyscraper build in the city? Why does the architect deal with biological architecture? It is not just aesthetic, economical, environmental problem.

This “biological architecture” is our new design form in the future. Lack of the nature is not only desertification of nature, but also, human being, itself. Inside of human want to be naturalized and architects re-interpretate their needs. As different with other suggestions, our FYOF has proposed a deep interaction between the nature and the human.
