GARDEN/ATRIUM
MATERIALS
CONCEPT The space will aim to connect the community of the exchange district, to local food. Resident Chefs will be employed on a term basis, and will work and reside in the building for the duration of their term. A garden atrium located in the center of the building will provide local ingredients for the making of food in both the cooking classes and the restaurant. The classes held in the cooking school will allow the connection of individuals to local food through the cooking, eating and education of sourced ingredients within an urban environment. The architectural language was created from the connection of the dense areas and restaurants in the exchange district to the site. An atrium composed of community gardens promotes connection through crossing pathways. The space will aim to achieve a warm, relaxing atmosphere with the use of comfortable, contemporary furnishings and the application of wood, brick, and concrete materials. A red ribbon travels from the atrium around the building connecting the differently programed spaces to one another.

PHOTOGRAPH
28
Todd Mclellan is a Canadian photographer from Toronto with an interest in art and design. One of the projects he worked on was titled “Things Come Apart which focuses on exploring modern items that are used in everyday life. He disassembled objects, which included a pen, telephone and camera, and displayed them on a horizontal surface in the order of how he took each object apart. In my second year of Environmental Design, this disassembly style was administered as a photography and drawing assignment. I chose to disassemble, photograph and draw a computer mouse. The drawing was completed with a combination of pencil and pencil crayon on a large format piece of paper.

3D PRINTED MODEL DECEMBER 2014
In my third year of Environmental Design an assignment was distributed to create a small 3D printed model. Using a 3D modeling software called Rhino, I designed a small pavilion with curvilinear forms and a unique roof. There is a bench inside of the model which follows the same curvilinear lines and forms of the overall design. The model was printed using a 3D printer containing a powder material, rather than plastic material for precision and clarity of the model. 29
