Here you'll find the latest early years updates.

OUT AND ABOUT

It may be chilly out there, but this hasn’t stopped several nurseries in Scotland taking their lessons outdoors this winter. Working in partnership with charity Thrive Outdoors, Scottish schools and nurseries now have free access to a wealth of resources that support learning outside the classroom. Since getting started, staff have reported that this whatever-the-weather approach has had a significantly positive impact, with many noting that pupils’ confidence has boosted dramatically. inspiringscotland.org.uk

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Fans of Topsy and Tim, rejoice – to mark the twin’s 60th birthday (we can’t believe it either), Ladybird has released a special anniversary edition of On The Farm, the much-loved tale originally published in 1970. Filled with original artwork and some of the very first stories written about the pair, this gorge edition makes for a great keepsake to read together at bedtimes. Catch it in bookshops from 27 February. £8.99, Ladybird

TAKE ACTION!

Have your tot tapping her foot and spinning around with Burtie Learning’s new Action Flashcards. Created by educational and health experts, each one guides kids through a series of actions that encourage balance, coordination and muscle development, while also improving number recognition and early counting skills. The rounded corners also make them easier for little ones to pick up. £8, burtielearning.com
