Town Hall, Main Stage £6.50 per child Demos and dancing collide as science songwriter and physics teacher Jonny Berliner brings to life the history behind one of the deepest ideas in science. Meet figures from history such as Marie Curie and James Joule, play real-life Angry Birds, find out how much energy you are storing in your body, and use some of it to dance along to infectiously catchy SciTunes that will stick in your memory as strongly as a superconducting electromagnet! 7

Kitted Out: An Engineering Expedition Town Hall, Main Stage £6.50 per child Gear up for an adventure into the world of scientific tools and tricks. From plastic clothing to recyclable shoes and 3D-printed climbing gear, the mechanics behind the kit we wear to travel across the globe is just as fascinating as the places it allows us to explore. Along with adventurer Huw James, prepare to learn all about the wonderful science behind our gadgets – you might even become a gear geek too.

Nano Invasion Town Hall, Main Stage £6.50 per child A BSL interpreter will be present at this event. Please let us know when booking if your child requires seats with a view of the interpreter. Nothing is ever as it seems… at least when it comes to the world of nanotechnology. Explore the unknown with Jamie Gallagher and unearth the tiny tech that is changing our phones, food, sport and health. In a world where pencils are stronger than steel and robots become doctors, what else will you discover in this hidden world? 9

Venture into the wonderful world of sound with Dan Mayfield from the School of Noise and explore how sounds are made, how they travel and where they end up. Learn how animals use sound to communicate and hunt, listen to some unusual musical instruments and discover the science of sound.
Submerge yourself in a rockpool with Elizabeth Mills to find out how sea creatures move, feed and protect themselves, and design your own imaginary marine monster. Choose the best animal parts to combine into a new sea creature in this interactive show. Will it run like a crab? Or eat like an anemone? You will decide as you learn about the incredible creatures in our ocean and how they’ve adapted to survive and thrive.

Weirdology: Revolting Bodies
Parabola Arts Centre £6.50 per child Chemical reactions aren’t just bubbling beakers in laboratories – our day to day lives are packed with amazing and overlooked chemical reactions. Take a tour around the kitchen with Jamie Gallagher and explore the sights, sounds and smells of everyday chemistry. Explosive oranges, disgusting cola and the secrets of sugar all lie in wait as we put the ‘ordinary’ world under a microscope. The kitchen becomes the scientist’s playground in this jam-packed show filled with fun experiments guaranteed to make you look at science in a whole new light.

Join TV presenter and quirkologist Stefan Gates as he explores disgusting science all about human biology. Expect a noisy, smelly, horribly interactive experience packed with demos involving zits, ear wax, toe cheese, snot, vomit, scabs, spit, burps, farts, blood, sweat and tears. This show is full of all the stuff you’re dying to know about the stuff no-one ever talks about. Yuk!

Workshop: The Winchcombe Meteorite The Cube £7.50 per child Where do meteorites come from and what can they tell us about the formation of the Solar System? Join scientists from the Natural History Museum on an interplanetary voyage as you get hands-on with rocky fragments from asteroids, the Moon, and Mars. Investigate the Winchcombe meteorite that fell near Cheltenham in 2021 and discover what this messenger from space can tell us about the origins of life. 11

Water can do all sorts of wonderful things; from dissolving and squashing, to freezing and evaporating. Our friends at Science Made Simple will be your guides as you dive into the amazing properties of this life-giving liquid. With fun demonstrations and explosive experiments, you’ll never look at water in the same way again.

The Cube £7.50 per child Pop your gloves on and join the UK Polar Network as you undertake the journey from the North to the South poles. Travel to icy Antarctica to learn about food webs and their critical role in our oceans and meet communities living in the Arctic to understand the climate challenges impacting their lives. Along the way you’ll visit the infamous ice sheets of both poles to understand their influence on solar radiation and the temperature of our planet.

Careers within science, technology, engineering and maths are constantly increasing in number and variety. Today’s teenagers are the future experts and inventors in cybertech, genomics, smart materials and entire fields that don’t exist yet. In this morning of intriguing talks and fascinating demonstrations, scientist Jamie Gallagher introduces a stellar lineup of individuals working in a range of STEM fields. These leading inspirational scientists include, among others: • Sophia McCall, cyber security consultant • Stefan Gates, professional ‘gastronaut’ and television presenter • Dawood Qureshi, writer, journalist and film-maker Enjoy visiting our partner zones over lunch and round off your day with a dedicated KS4 session in the Discover Zone. Come along to spark your imagination and consider where STEM can take you.

What happens next? 1. We will review your booking form and will be in touch to discuss alternative options if any of your choices are unavailable. 2. When you have paid for your tickets, you will recieve a ticket document, a site map and an information document with important details about your visit.
