CHENCHEN ZHANG

Personal Branding I incorporate my Chinese heritage to design my

traditional Chinese red, I decide to put my last

personal logo. My last name in Chinese has the

name on a square to represent the chop in blue, a

same meaning of Chinese chop. Instead of the

unconventional color for chop.

Self Reflection of Process This project focuses on the self reflection of my

design to architecture. Putting my blue square

design process. I create these cards to promote

personal logo icon in each card, the eight design

my process works in former projects, from graphic

categories (photo, model, etc) are more consistent.

R.I.C. Publications

Art has traditionally been an important part of early childhood programs. Friedrich Froebel, the father of kindergarten, believed that young children should be involved in both making their own art and enjoying the art of others. This book provides teachers and child carers with a wide collection of colour mixing and media application, printmaking and dyeing activities suitable for young children.

I design the layout of grant proposal for the Antiochia ad Cragum Archaeological Research Project, by Processor Michael Hoff.

Poster Design These series of posters are about The Declaration

of Independence, and manipulate typography to

of Independence. In each poster, I use different

methods to rearrange the layout of The Declaration

In this project, I incorporate my typography designs with my architecture models.

Book Reinvention I interpret two chapters from Around the World in 80

we experience a book. I present the story happened

days in a form of paper fortune teller, to reinforce the

in Hongkong in Chinese, celebrating the typography

adventure process in the book and change the way

Symbolism Experience This project focuses the symbolism experience of

surroundings. I create photos and material samples

happiness. The happiness I want to show is through

collages as happiness components, and they all

different senses, from experiencing one’s own

together build the tower of happiness.

Capstone: Material Narritives Through the interaction with this project, I want

people. Why people choose certain material depend

people to reflect more on themselves when choosing

on self-image, personal satisfaction, and memories,

the material swatch to match certain time, place, and

which shows that materials have narritives.

Branding This T-shirt is designed for Russ’s community. For

figure. The logo embodies the idea of community

the logo, I design a heart consists of many small

and community giving, representing the collective

human figures, and at the center is a big human

entity of employees and customers.

Art Installation The tilte is Chinese in Americans’ eyes. I think this

culture could be a very rewarding path. I want

territory “between” cultures is very interesting and

viewers to think: how do we package culture? Why

exploring the idea of packaging and how we package

do we package culture? What is lost in the process.

This art installation is about movies. After watching

the vinyl letters, representing color drives the plot

several foreign movies, I want to present my

through the movie scripts. The random letter groups

observation about the color in those movies. I paint

show the combination of foreign languages.

Environmental Graphic Design I make a proposal for O’Hare International airport

terminal colors to paint the ceiling, which can guide

EGD change. I separate the terminal direction

people go through terminals more efficiently without

signage from the existing boards, by using the

interpreted by reading other directional signs.

Product Design In this project, I design a tool tote to store my model making supplies. To create a visual interest, I apply the vinyl material to certain surfaces of the tool tote.

Inspired by Chinese traditional lanterns, I design

overlapping lamp shade leaves. I laser cut the plastic

this table lamp. The lamp base can function as a

paper with words and graphics, which create a visual

pen holder, and the brightness is adjustable by

interest to the lamp when it is in night light mode.
