PROFESSOR: DAVID MEYER TIME: 2019 LOCATION: SANTA ROSA, CA
My goal is to use rose flower’s geometrical structure to create a public space with water feature. It helps residents to recall memory through the reflections of the significant civic buildings. The proposed water feature animates and dramatizes this historical site, and invites everyone sit along the terrace and enjoy this downtown landscape. In my design, reflection become a medium that helps people to discover the site.

Because of the different reflective properties of granite, there is potential to achieve various reflection effects on the stone surface with unexpected reflective images. Reflective granites and water duplicate the envelope of the city. When the user walks around the proposed reflective surface, the reflection changes on the granite or water surface. It brings the unexpected images, which appeals to people on a deep level.

Both the granite and the water provided opportunies for reflecon. Reflecon on granites is misty yet staonary. Meanwhile, the reflecon on water is clear yet changeable like memories, full of surprise. 10

If a visitor just hop off from the cable car at Hyde Street, he or she will draw attention to an existing steel pergola, which is twined by the star jasmine. Through ths beautiful reused structure, you are walking on the gravel path between the combination of Myrsine Africana, Santolina, and Echinacea. The coneflower (Echinacea) is an insect-loving plant. It will attract butterflies and SECTION bees, which animate this area on the deep level. At the end of the gravel path, it is the Lavanda area with benched, the charming purple plant as an introduction to the seconf parcel, the Lavanda garden. At the secound part, the main colors are purple from Lavanda and yello from Frenmontodendron. This color comparsion brings dramatic effect. Also, step stones creat a closer experience to the garden.

STONE SEATING BLOCKS 1”
1”
Edward Croossing is a historical landmark in Nevada County, California. it located at middle yuba river. Originally it constructed in 1904 and last rehabilitated in 1989, it is one lane and load restricted, affecting emergency response and accessibility at the bridge.

Assignment 1
Geomorphic Transformation
In late 2017, County Public Works staff sought public input on potential bridge rehabilitation and replacement options during a town hall meeting, an online survey, media releases, meetings with stakeholders, and dissemination of an informational brochure.
1”
1”
My view in this project is working with local rocks such as green stone and granite. I explore multiple way to use stone to solve question like how stones can be contributed with the new bridge? How stones can be constructed into new landscape structure?

The model study told me the property of material. I use plaster as an analog for concrete and stone for boulder. There are epic views as people either visit on the platform or watching the platform from the other side.

AVAMERE RETENTION BASIN REDESIGN FINAL STUDIO REDESIGN ON MSLA’S HEARTWOOD PRESERVE SCHEMATIC DESIGN LOCATION: OMAHA, NE PART 4
Meyer Studio – Land Architects (MSLA) is now working on the opportunity of a lifetime — a 500-acre project in Omaha, Nebraska called Heartwood where was a cornfield location. My goal is base on the topography on Part 4 (Avamere Retention Basin) and redesigning a new version of the retention basin. The context of part 4 is a narrow space where next to a senior hospital. My new design tries to make a quiet hospital back yard using corn’s geometrical structure.

During the Pleistocene-Epoch Ice Age, the Bay Area looked much more like an African savannah, with large regions of coastal prairie habitat. The rich habitat supported an assortment of megafauna, fauna, and flora – some of which is still supported by the Guadalupe River ecosystem today. Yesterday’s Camel (aka the Camelops) was much larger than today’s camel, with a height of up to 7 feet at the shoulder and a weight of up to 1433 lbs. Like modern camels, this camel fed on trees and bushes. Yesterday’s Camel was around between 45 and 25 million years ago, and was the predecessor to both the modern camel and the alpaca.
The Short Faced Bear got its name from its broad, bulldog-like face. It was much taller than the modern grizzly bear and preyed on other animals. The short faced bear went extinct about 11,000 years ago, about the same time as the grizzly bear came to North America.

AN ANCIENT ECOSYSTEM
San Jose has an ancient history.
Deer grass is a drought-tolerant grass that grows in clumps and attracts birds, ladybugs, and deer. California Native Americans used the stalks of this plant for making baskets.
The acorns produced by the Coast Live Oak are important to both wild animals and humans. Native Americans depended on acorns for food, and went through a long process of leaching to make them edible. Coast Live Oaks are medium-height, with grey trunks and brittle, prickly leaves. Harlan’s Ground Sloth was a 3-4 ton, 20 foot long animal that fed on leaves of trees and shrubs. This sloth had pieces of bone in its skin that acted like armour against attacks from predators. This sloth had more neck vertebrae than other mammals.
Sabertoothed Cats, known for their large fangs, are the predecessors of today’s big cats and went extinct about 11,000 years ago. These carnivorous cats grew up to 3 feet tall and 440 lbs. That’s heavier than a lion!
The Turkey Vulture, which evolved around 11,000 years ago and still exists today, comes to California during the summers and retreats to Mexico and South America during the winter. Turkey vultures have a huge wingspan (up to 5’10” wide!) and an extraordinary sense of smell. Turkey vultures feast on dead animals.
Unlike other species described here, the California Ground Squirrel did not go extinct. The small, grey, spotted rodent you see today is the same one that existed 11,000 years ago. Ground squirrels feast on leaves, flowers, and berries in the spring and early summer and spend most of their time underground during the winter.
The Steppe Bison lived between 9,000 and 12,000 years ago and thrived in cool, grassy areas. They migrated to California during the springtime.
The Columbian Mammoth, which lived until about 10,000 years ago, had grey skin much like today’s elephant. Like all mamoths, Columbians Mammoth mostly ate grass, and lots of it!
Coast Redwoods are the tallest trees in the world, growing up to 379 feet tall and 26 feet wide. These trees support their height with root systems that extend over 100 feet from their trunks. These trees grow up to three feet a year.
