In the deep ocean waters, there lived a shark named Sam. He swam alone in the big blue sea.
One day, when Sam was swimming around, he saw a glimmer of light. Being inquisitive, he decided to take a closer look.
As he entered the shipwreck, all the fishes vanished in a flash.
“Aww...” Sam thought to himself, “How I wish I have some friends to swim with!”
“I think I will look for some friends”, Sam decided.

“OUCH!” cried Sam. He had bumped into Mrs Green Sea Turtle.
“Hello, why do you look so sad?” asked Mrs Green Sea Turtle.
Sam replied, “I am feeling very LONELY, because I have no friends.” 10
“I was just about to get some food,” said Mrs Green Sea Turtle. “Turn that frown upside down and join me!”

Mrs Green Sea Turtle started eating the seagrass. “Join me! This seagrass is yummy.”
towards the ocean's seabed they went.
Sam tried eating the seagrass. “YUCK! This seagrass tastes awful!” 12
“I am full now. Let’s stay here and take a nap, ” said Mrs Green Sea Turtle. “WHAT?” said Sam. “I can’t stay here, I won’t be able to breathe if I don’t swim around.”
Sam realised that Mrs Green Sea Turtle was very different from him. Sam was very sad and decided to look for another friend. 13
Sam continued on his adventure, when up ahead he saw...
14
... a beautiful CORAL REEF !
“Look at the corals and fishes living in the coral reef! I think I will be very happy here, said Sam to himself.
Just then, Owen the Octopus hovered in front of Sam.
18
“Hello! I am Owen,” said the octopus.
“Hello, Owen! I am Sam. I am hungry. What do you do to get food around here?” Sam asked.
“Follow me!” said Owen, and off they went to hunt for food. 19
Suddenly, Owen hid amongst the corals and disappeared.
21
“WOW! Can I disappear like him too? I think I’m going to try,” said Sam.
However, after many tries, Sam just could not blend in with any of the corals.
22
A crab came along, but when he saw Sam, he scurried away immediately.
“Sam! You scared our lunch away!”
23
“Look! More crabs ahead!” Swiftly, Owen squeezed between the corals to reach for the crabs.
Sam tried to follow behind but bumped into the corals instead. “OUCH! That hurts!” he exclaimed.
Sam was then convinced that they were not alike. He had to look for another friend again. 24
Just then, a dark shadow hovered above. Sam looked up and saw something on the surface of the ocean going by.
Sam started swimming towards the surface and saw Dan the Dolphin.
“Hello Sam, Mrs Green Sea Turtle told me that you were looking for a friend. Would you like to join us?” asked Dan.
“I would love to!” said Sam excitedly.
Suddenly, Dan swam past Sam and shot right out of the water.
“WOW! Let me try that!” exclaimed Sam.
Dan swam towards the boat and the people on the boat started waving and taking pictures of Dan.
Sam tried to follow Dan, but he jumped and splashed clumsily back into the water.
“It’s alright Sam,” said Dan. “Follow me to the boat instead.” 29
Sam swam up soon after but nobody took pictures of him. Instead, the boat took off.
Sam was really hurt. “People seemed afraid of me. Maybe I should give up looking for a friend. 31
Just then, he heard a distant cry for help. It sounded like Mrs Green Sea Turtle!
As Sam rushed through the water to investigate, he felt something brush against him. When he turned to look, he saw another shark that looked exactly like him!
“Hi, my name is Tom, you might have heard the cry too! Let's save Mrs Green Sea Turtle!
The two sharks found Mrs Green Sea Turtle trapped in a net left behind by a fisherman.
Sam and Tom started to work together. They used their sharp teeth and bit through the net to free Mrs Green Sea Turtle. 35
“Yes, I did!” said Sam. “Thank you so much Sam and your friend for saving my life!” “Sam, you have found yourself a friend after all!”
“But that's not all, I think I have found a family too!" said Sam with a big smile.
