THE FRESNO CARDINALS HOST TWO NON LEAGUE TEAMS The Cardinals play three games at Buchanan High School Fresno, CA July 3, 2011 – The Fresno Cardinals are hosting the RBI Black Sox on Tuesday, July 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Buchanan High School. The Cardinals will be hosting the East Bay Colt 45’s on Wednesday, July 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Buchanan High School for a doubleheader. The Cardinals are 8-13 overall and 7-8 at home, 6-6 at Fresno City, 1-2 at Buchanan High School, and 4-9 in conference.
The Cardinals Play a Ten Game Homestand The Cardinals play three home games to start off July, hosting the RBI Black Sox and East Bay Colt .45’s. The Cardinals are 3-4 on the homestand so far and look to improve and turn around the season on this homestand. The Cardinals won one out of three from the Nor Cal Pirates and swept the SLO Rattlers. The Nevada Bullets had to cancel the series on June 29-30 due to a scheduling conflict. It is unknown at this time if the games will be made up.
Cardinals Batting Stats As a team, the Cardinals are batting .252 with one hundred sixty-eight hits, twenty-six doubles, three triples, seven home runs, and 88 RBIs. Colton Vaughn has the highest batting average at .367. LaBronze Sanderson has a team high twenty-three hits. Chris Kuber leads the team with four doubles. Matt Fox, Brian Gaad, and Bryce Smith have a team high one triple each. Bryce Smith leads the team with two home runs. Chris Kuber leads the team with eleven RBIs. Zak Colby and Sammy Donald have a team high fourteen walks each. Mitchell Sodersten leads the team in sacrifice flies with four. Brian Gaad leads the team in sacrifice hits with three.
Pitching Strikeouts The Cardinals pitching staff has struck out 119 batters this year. On June 8, in the second game of the doubleheader against the East Bay Colt .45’s, the Cardinals recorded a season high 11 strikeouts. Clay Gartner leads the team with 27 strikeouts.
Stealing Extra Bases The Cardinals are 28 for 35 in stealing extra bases this year. LaBronze Sanderson has the most stolen bases with six. Matt Fox, Andrew Swan, Anthony Lopez, Brandon King, Mitchell Sodertsen, Devon White, and Brian Gaad are perfect when it comes to stealing extra bases.
