MITCHELL SODERSTEN WENT 4-FOR-4 IN THE GAME

The Cardinals continue the series tomorrow with the Fontanetti Athletics San Jose, CA June 17, 2011 – Right fielder Mitchell Sodersten had his best night on the season going 4for-4. He hit two singles and a double to left field and another single to center field. He also scored one of the two runs for the Fresno Cardinals. Sam Donald, John Koretoff, and Chris Kuber each had a walk. LaBronze Sanderson went 2-5 with a stolen base. Mitchell Sodersten went 4-4 with a double and a run. Cody White went 1-4 with a double and a RBI. Connor Williams went 2-4 Cardinals’ starter Michael Jimenez pitched his second complete game of the season. He gave up nine hits, seven runs, two earned runs, walked five, and struck out four. He is 2-2 on the season.

The Cardinals turned three double plays in the game. LaBronze Sanderson (Cuesta College) singled to start the top of the first inning. With one out he stole second. Mitchell Sodersten (Fresno City) singled to center field putting runners at first and third. The Cardinals were unable to score a run in the first inning. With two out in the second Matt Fox (Reedley College) reached on an error and stole second. Mitchell Sodersten doubled to left center to start off the fourth inning. Then Chris Kuber (Fresno City) walked. Connor Williams (Reedley College) reached first on an error and the Sam Donald (Fresno State) walked in fifth inning. Then a double play did not help the Cardinals. Mitchell Sodersten singled down the left field line to start off the sixth inning. Then he moved to second on Nate Dalena’s (Fresno City) groundout. Cody White (Reedley College) doubled down the right field line scoring Mitchell Sodersten. The Cardinals scored one run off of two hits.
Connor Williams singled to left field to start off the top of the seventh inning. With two out LaBronze Sanderson singled to right field. Mitchell Sodersten singled to the left side to start off the top of the eighth inning. Anthony Lopez (Fresno City) came in to pinch run and stole second. Nate Dalena reached on an error and Anthony Lopez scored. The Cardinals scored one run off of one hit and one error. Pinch hitter John Koretoff walked to start the top of the ninth. Alex Dibble came in to pinch run. Connor Williams singled down the right field line putting runners at first and second. The Cardinals were unable to score a run. The Fontanetti Athletics won 7-2.
