Reedley season swept Ohlone College in baseball Cherie Smith Sports Reporter Reedley College Baseball finished up their homestand with Ohlone and Santa Rosa College. The Tigers played Ohlone for a second time this year, hosting them this time. Reedley hosted Santa Rosa for a two game series to end the week before conference play starts. On Wednesday, February 13 Reedley hosted Ohlone College. They had already faced each other at Ohlone to start the season, with Reedley winning. Reedley scored first and took an 8-0 lead into the eighth inning. Ohlone scored four in the top eighth, but Reedley scored four in the bottom. Reedley won 12-6. They were able to season sweep Ohlone College. Mike Hostetler went 2-4 with a walk, RBI, stolen base, and two Reedley College’s right fielder runs scored. Laz Villa went 2-5 with RBI and two runs scored. Nick Pate went 2-4 with a double, RBI, sacrifice bunt, and two David Mora went 3-5 with runs scored. David Mora went 3-5 with three RBI’s and two three RBI’s and two runs runs scored. Jonathan Chapa went 2-3 with a double, an RBI scored in the Tigers 12-7 win and a run scored. Smith went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base, and an RBI. Nick Lee went seven and one-third innings and got the win. He gave up two hits, two runs, one earned run, one walk, and struck out five. Anthony Valle pitched one and one-third innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three. He got his second save of the season. Reedley College hosted Santa Rosa Junior College on Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16. In the Friday game Santa Rosa took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Reedley then took a 2-0 in the bottom half. Reedley had 8-2 lead going into the ninth inning. They were not able to keep it and gave up 10 runs in the ninth inning. The Tigers lost 8-12. Chapa went 1-3 with a walk, RBI, and a run scored. Hostetler went 1-5 with a triple, RBI, and two runs scored. Villa went 2-5 with a run scored. Pate went 2-4 with a walk, double, stolen base, and three RBI’s. Torres had a walk and two runs scored. Josh Cantrell went 2-2 with an RBI. Smith went 2-5 with an RBI. Joe Doering went seven and one-third innings giving up six hits, two runs, one earned run, two walks, and five strikeouts. Scott Rees got the loss. The Tigers played their second game against Santa Rosa on Saturday. The Tigers were not able to get a run across and lost 5-0. Hostetler went 1-3 with a walk. Villa had two walks. Pate went 1-4. Jason Gonzalez went 1-3 with a walk. Justin Dea went 1-4. John Armijo went six and one-third innings giving up 11 hits,


five earned runs, three walks, four strikeouts, and got the loss. John Karch pitched two and onethird innings in relief, giving up zero hits, zero walks, and striking out two. Reedley starts Central Valley Conference play on Tuesday, February 19 at Fresno City College. They will play a three game series. Then the Tigers travel to Sierra College on Saturday, March 2. Tuesday, March 5 the Tigers host Merced College to start off the three game series.
