Football gets their first win in the Golden Gate Conference Cherie Smith Sports Editor Reedley College is 1-0 in their first year in the Golden Gate Conference. Before that, Reedley traveled to Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, where they lost 49-21. The next week Reedley had their inauguration game in the Golden Gate Conference hosting Merced College, where they had their best game of the season winning 52-38. Reedley now has more wins than they did last season and are 2-5 overall. Reedley College 21 – Diablo Valley College 49 The Tigers traveled to Pleasant Hill to play Diablo Valley College (DVC) on Friday, October 12. Diablo Valley had three touchdowns the first half to take a 20-0 lead into half time. Reedley got a touchdown in the third quarter. The touchdown was a 21 yard pass from Sean Stell, Jr. to Will Hanford. Right before the fourth quarter Reedley got another touchdown to make it 40-14 DVC. Stell threw a 46 yard pass to Ernest Carter for the touchdown. The Tigers last score came in the fourth quarter and Stell had a one yard touchdown run. DVC got a safety to make the final 4921. Quarterback Stell went 15-36 with 167 yards passing, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, and ran for a touchdown. Donte Capers ran the ball eight times for 86 yards, including a 65 yard run and three catches for 13 yards. Carter ran the ball 39 yards for 12 times, three catches for 54 yards, including a 45 yard touchdown catch, and kickoff returns totaling 49 yards. Kendrick Peeples had six catches for 38 yards including a 16 yard catch. Hanford had two catches for 36 yards and two kickoff returns for 49 yards. Terrence Tatume had a 26 yard catch. Brandon Hames had three kickoff returns for 30 yards. Antonio Mathis had 3.5 sacks in the game. Lamarte Outing and Dashown Fletcher both had interceptions. Merced College 38 – Reedley College 52 Reedley College hosted the Merced College Blue Devils on Saturday, October 20 for an afternoon game. Reedley scored first on a 38 yard field goal by Dennis Gallo. In the second quarter Reedley scored a touchdown to make it 10-7 Reedley, it was a seven yard pass to Ernest Carter from Sean Stell, Jr. Carter had a 90 yard run for a touchdown and it was the first play of the possession. The score at halftime was 17-14 Reedley. Stell threw a six yard touchdown pass to Terrence Tatume in the third quarter. Will Hanford caught a 44 yard touchdown pass from Stell, making it 31-21 Reedley. Kendric Peeples had a 19 yard touchdown catch from Stell and a 4 yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. Tatume caught a 24 yard pass for a touchdown from Stell, making it 52-28 Reedley. The Tigers had 387 yards passing and 185 yards rushing. Stell completed 23-for-36 passes for 387 yards and six touchdowns and ran the ball 10 times for 37 yards. Carter ran the ball eight times for 109 yards and a catch for seven yards. Donte Capers ran 12 times for 32 yards and had one catch for seven yards. Bob Bianchi ran two times for 17 yards. Hanford had five catches for


98 yards. Devin Cox had four catches for 52 yards. Chris Zaker had two catches for 29 yards. Raymond Pinkston, Marcus Dallas, Jr., Antonio Mathis, and Jonathan Lytle all sacked the Merced quarterback. Reedley College travels to Coalinga on Saturday, October 27 to face West Hills College with kick-off at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, November 2 the Tigers travel to Laney College in Oakland for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off. Reedley ends the season on Saturday, November 10 at home against Chabot College with a 2:00 p.m. kick-off. These games are all part of the Golden Gate Conference.
