Reedley ended the season on strong note Cherie Smith Sports Editor Going into the final football game of the season, Reedley College Football had the belief that it could become one of the Golden gate Conference Champions. On Saturday, November 10, Reedley College Tigers hosted Chabot College Gladiators for the final game of the season. If Reedley won, there would be a three team Golden Gate Conference Champions; if not, then Chabot becomes the champions. Ernest Carter had a two yard touchdown run and then Patrick Green had a 65 yard touchdown interception making it 14-0 Reedley. Then, Chabot went on a 34 point run. They tried a two point conversation, but Reedley stopped them. Carter scored the last points of the first half on an 11 yard touchdown run. The score at half time was 34-21 Chabot. Chabot scored first in the second half, a field goal. Then the Tigers scored on a 39 yard field goal by Dennis Gallo. Will Hanford caught a four yard touchdown pass from Sean Stell to get Reedley within six. Chabot scored another touchdown. Carter caught a 35 yard touchdown pass from Stell and a seven yard touchdown pass to put Reedley up by one, 45-44 with less than four minutes left. Chabot had 49 yard field goal with less than 30 seconds left to win the game 47-45. The offense had 343 yards passing and 83 yards rushing. They also were 4-for-4 in fourth down tries. Quarterback Stell went 39-for-69 with three touchdowns and three interceptions and ran the ball 11 times for 21 yards. Carter ran the ball 12 times for 43 yards and two touchdowns and four catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns. He also had five kickoff returns for 132 yards. Kendrick Peeples ran the ball once for 12 yards and caught the ball 12 times for 83 yards. Hanford had 10 receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Terrence Tatume had seven catches for 70 yards. Dashown Flecher had three catches for 24 yards. Jerry Bellot had six tackles and two assists. Marcus Dallas had three tackles and five assists. Jaydon Brown had five tackles. Rodney Thomas had three tackles and two assists. Alvin Esson had four tackles. Thurman Byrd had four tackles and one sack.
