Volleyball gets their first conference win Cherie Smith Sports Editor Reedley College played their first home match against Columbia College; it was also a conference match. Reedley pulled out a 3-0 win. Reedley played all of their non-conference matches on the road and played two conference matches before playing in front of their home crowd. On Wednesday, September 26, the Reedley College Tigers played the Porterville College Pirates in Porterville. Reedley lost to Porterville, 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-12). Porterville College is ranked 6 in Northern California and 17 in the Reedley College’s #7 Alexandria Trostel on Friday, September 29, 2012 against Columbia state. In the first game, Porterville College was up 6-1 and then Reedley made it 9-7, only down College two. Porterville then pulled away and Reedley was not able to get close again. Reedley College hosted the Columbia College Claim Jumpers on Friday, September 28. In the second game Reedley pulled away from Columbia, but they closed the gap. Both teams battled back and forth before Reedley won the game, 30-28. Reedley beat Columbia 3-0 (25-23, 30-28, and 25-16). Katie Tomcak had 16 kills and Jordan Ross had 10 kills. The Tigers traveled to Coalinga to play the West Hills College Falcons on Wednesday, October 3. Reedley won 3-1 (25-23, 24-26, 25-18, 25-18) over West Hills. Reedley faced the Merced College Blue Devils at home on Friday, October 5. The Tigers defeated the Blue Devils, 3-2 (18-25, 25-10, 25-17, 23-15, and 15-11). Reedley College hosts College of the Sequoias on Wednesday, October 17 at 6:00 p.m.
