The newly launched Field Trainer Internship aims to provide a foundation for future careers in sustainability and international development. Permaculture, the development of efficient self-sustaining agricultural ecosystems, is an important aspect of sustainability. Grassroots permaculture adoption has already been reported in at least 45 countries worldwide. Permaculture trainers are set to fill this growing niche. Green Warrior Permaculture’s Field Trainer Internship will lead students to develop the skills necessary to train people of different cultures to rebuild their communities, attain all-year food security, and restore local economies using proven strategies and techniques. The students will work closely with two highly experienced sustainability professionals, Steve Cran and Chakra Widia, to learn the skills needed to bring self-reliance to people in difficult circumstances using locally available resources. The students will gain hands-on experience in many aspects of project design and implementation by completing numerous small-scale projects that would be needed in a poor community or disaster area such as: constructing safe wells, building community infrastructure, waste management, ensuring food security, converting farms to organic production, building nurseries and community forestry. The students will also gain rare field experience as they conduct many of these projects in real communities to solve real problems.
