Such Talent!
We love being able to say we make Cards by Cardies for Cardies! For the company’s first 20 years, our founder Jodee wrote 99% of our cards. These days, more than half the new designs have been written by members of this community! And what talented members they are.
Take the birthday card far left. Sarah Freymuth sent us the message, and it was a pleasure to search for an image that lived up to it. For more of Sarah’s writing, check out sarahfreymuth.com Meanwhile, for your pleasure and awe, we’ll share excerpts from one of her blog posts:
Contributing Cardie Sarah Freymuth
“I came to live this life out loud. I came to speak the song of my heart. It is here — wonder, magic, immeasurably more. Look up. Look around. The world is ablaze with an eternal hue that swipes its brush against the sky.
“We cannot raise our voices with urgency and expectancy unless we shake the status quo and raise a ripple in the water. We cannot go through the motions listless and eyes drooping asleep. We must live wide awake. Wild and free.
“Will you? Where will the wind of wonder take you? It’s time to awaken, time to run, discover just how deep we can dig to reach, not rock bottom, but the beginning of the reckless way we live and love. Live this life out loud.”

Now Donna Hopkins, this Contributing Cardie lives a life of wonder! Spend time at donnamhopkins.com and you’re in for a double treat: Her great writing and photography.
The message on the new cherry couple card below far left was one Donna wrote with her husband of more than four decades in mind. When we’d paired her words with the cherry image and sent Donna a rough for review, her reply came with more than approval — she attached the photo of the two women on the bench you see near left saying, “This one just seems like it belongs in the Cardthartic family!”

BD #LR613 seek and ye shall find Wishing you happiness out the wazoo this year. Happy Birthday! LITTLE
BD #LR612 what’s cookin’ Wishing you all the makings of a scrumptious new year. Happy Birthday!
While all Donna’s photo-essays are rich and rewarding to read, here’s an excerpt from one of our favorites titled A Good Mail Day : “Mailboxes stand as a kind of sanctuary against change. Our conversations are now mostly by way of email and texting but, for all the connection the internet provides, we are still often left lonely and lost and longing. Walking to the mailbox is a daily meditation for many folks. The quarter mile down the lane, along the wire fence nearly covered in poke weed, leads to the galvanized metal mailbox, where hope is delivered. In my own home, we race to see who can get to the mail first. Because the mail is mostly junk, we live for the days when real handwritten letters and cards arrive for us ... delivered directly to me by the US Postal Service, thank-you’s and invitations along with postcards and letters keep me in good company. The miles between are dissolved by the simple act of raising the flag for outgoing mail.”
BD #LR611 you did what?!
Just thinking of you and all the tales we have to tell!
peaches
They’re considered a sacred symbol of longevity because their soft skin and juicy goodness hold so many nutrients that keep us feeling young and healthy.
Wishing you a day dripping with sweetness and a succulent new year.
Happy Birthday
marigolds
Always bright and sunny, in folklore they’re believed to have magical powers that restore hope and optimism. Used in herbal medicines and remedies, marigolds soothe us body and soul.
Sending these marigolds along with healing thoughts to nurture and strengthen you.
Keep-Cool Magnets
lemonade
We’ve all heard it said, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” It’s in those times we hit a sour patch that we need to add a bit more sweetness to our lives. And, to ourselves, be especially good and kind.
I’m here, holding a pitcher full of good thoughts for you.
Given that this summer promises to be the hottest in history, we asked Cardies how they plan to keep their cool. Other than sticking their head in a fun magnet-festooned fridge! Here’s what a few had to say:
“Ceiling fans. They do make a difference!” – Judy Sherman “Cooling my feet seems to work for my whole body.” – Toni Hoepf
“I’ll drive in my A/C cooled car to the gym and walk on a treadmill. The facility is always nice and cool!” – Candy Clausell “Ride a noodle in the lake. Sheer bliss!” – Madeline Stockbridge
Cardie David Puett said, “A design I loved from the first time I saw it, and still smile every time I see it, is the one with the kids floating in the pool with their legs up over the side. The picture is so cool, and we all can remember doing that very thing in our younger years!”
