Watermen’s Appreciation Day

If your summer has included a crab feast or a freshly caught rockfish dinner, you might want to thank a waterman. On August 11, you can do just that at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s annual Watermen’s Appreciation Day!

Local watermen will compete in the Watermen’s Rodeo—a loud, raucous docking contest in which watermen will whip their boats around pilings faster than you can imagine, docking their boats to wild cheers from the crowd.

The event benefits the Talbot Watermen Association and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Tickets are $18 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 17, and free for kids 5 and under.
