Podcast: Wikipedia defines a podcast as “A series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and downloaded through web syndication.” For this assignment, I want you to think of it as a script (a dialogue between 2 or more characters). Each of the podcasts should pertain to the specific book(s) your team was assigned and should include the following: a. The typed script with correct formatting. (50 pts) i. When read out loud, it should be between 3 – 5 minutes in length ii. The various elements below need to be highlighted and identified. iii. The script should be fluid – meaning it makes sense and is orderly iv. It should follow the formatting of a script and use correct grammar. b. Epic Literary Device (10 pts) i. one epithet ii. one Homeric simile c. A summary or reference to specific plot events that occur in the assigned books. (10 pts) d. A Discussion Point – meaning an answer to one of the discussion questions from your posters. (10 pts) e. Mention of the characteristics of an epic (look to ML: Element of Epic for guidance). Could include characteristics of a hero for example. (10 pts) f. Values taught and how it is relevant to a modern audience. (10 pts) Some ideas for the script are below: 1. Find some artistic depiction of your team’s book(s). This can be a painting, poem, song, etc. You search online for this. Then create a script in which you interview the artist about his work. You must pre-approve the artistic depiction with me before writing the script. 2. Interview a character from your team’s book(s). Perhaps you interview the Scylla and get her point of view. 3. You can interview Homer, the great rhapsody himself. 4. Pretend to be Pundits (experts or Greek scholars) and have a discussion or analysis of the assigned book(s).
