Bicycling and Education Project 1. Purpose -

Encourage and improve well-knowledge to students and student’s parents along the national road 6 and 68 on importance of education and to encourage them to pursue higher education

-

Special motivation and encouragement to Oddormeanchey students to further their studying at graduated school

-

Attract NGOs to develop all sectors in Oddormeanchey and especially education

-

Join the activities to decrease environment pollution and global warming and take good care of environment

-

Attract more tourists to visit Oddormeanchey province and other resorts in this province

2. Activities -

Share study life experiences to high school students at Oddormeanchey and youths at Youth Training Center at Bosboav district, Samrong city

Plant the trees in Oddormeanchey province and at Wat Tamoin Sen Chey area, Tamon village, KoakMorn district, Banteay Ampil

Note: Bicycling and education project is not only conducted one time then finish, but also it is a sustainable project which will be carried out at least once a year. If it is possible, this project is hoped to be carried out two to three times a year until 2016. It depends on the sponsors. For the target students are in the different area in Oddormeanchey province. From time to time, we are going to share with different target area.

In the meantime, once the first round of bicycling is finish, all stuffs, devices and tools will be taken care well by Students Association of Oddormeanchey for the following round of next year and until 2016. Moreover, students from this association are allowed to use these bikes as well as stuffs and tools in case they cannot afford by themselves and must response for any maintenance. When the program ends in 2016, these devices and tools will discussed again.

3. Participants There are totally 13 participants: 1. Mr. Inn Sodar, Director of Students Association of Oddormeanchey 2. Ms. Hun Lina, 5th year of Food Technology and Chemical Engineering at Institute of Technology of Cambodia 3. Mr. Loeurng Tra, 3rd year of Civil Engineering at International University 4. Mr. Out Latin, 2nd year of Physics at Royal University of Phnom Penh 5. Mr. Sngam Kroem, 2nd year of Physics at Royal University of Phnom Penh 6. Mr. Pork Barang, 2nd year of Information Technology at Cambodia International Cooperation Institute 7. Mr. Bo Vinai, 2nd year of Rural Economic Development at Royal University of Agriculture 8. Ms. Inn Sreynech, 1st year of Organization Management at Cambodian Mekong University 9. Ms. Lay Socheat, 1st year of Sociology at Royal University of Phnom Penh 10. Mr. Pav Chantrea, 1st year of Chemistry at Royal University of Phnom Penh 11. Other three students will take car.

totally 568 kilometers from Phnom Penh to Tamoin Temple

First Day, April 6, 2013(117km) 6:00 am: leave Students Association of Oddormeanchey (#553, street 83P, Bayab village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Tmey, Khan Sen Sok) go through Hanoi, Sihanouk, Neru, Kampuchea Krom, pass Independent Monument, Norodom boulevard, Wat

Phnom, Cambodia-Japan Friendship Bridge, National Highway 6A and stop at Kreal Village, Baray District, Kompong Thom province. Second Day, April 7, 2013(98km) 6:30 am: leave Kreal village for Krosang, Kompong Svay District, Kompong Thom province via central district of Baray, Santuk, Streung Sen City, Kompong Svay District. Third Day, April 8, 2013(117km) 6:30 am: leave for Veal village, Kork Chork commune, Siem Reap city, Siem Reap province on national road 6. Fourth Day, April 9, 2013(110km) 6:30 am: leave for Chong Kal district, Oddormeanchey province by passing Angkor Wat, Bayon temple, Siem Reap International Airport, Puok district, Sorsor Sdom commune, Angkor Chum district and Srey Snom district. Fifth Day, April 10, 2013(36km) 6:30 am: leave for Samrong District, Oddormeanchey province and continue to Bosboav village. We will meet youths and students and share them about our educational and life experiences in Phnom Penh. 4:00 pm: come back to Samrong and plant the trees Sixth Day, April 11, 2013(90km) 6:30 am: leave for Ta Moin Sen Chey pagoda and plant the trees; by going through to road 68 and passing Koun Kreal village, Pa-ong village, Rolus Thom resort, Ta Krobey temple and Ta moin temple

The distance of cycling for this program is about 568 km which is considered very long journey, a car is needed to go along with bicycles to facilitate on food, carrying tools, stuffs, cloths and other things needed and in case of unpredictable urgency.

6. Association Background Students Association of Oddormeanchey has been established since mid of 2006 by a group of Oddormeanchey students who came to pursue their higher education at the university under support of the former students. Have seen that the students found it extreamly difficult in team of accommodation and food that most students cannot further their study because of this, and the idea of love home province, want to see it grows, former students came up with an idea of association creation with students. They had struggled a lot till the final result is Students Association of Oddormeanchey. Goal Be an important part of education social and health development and people’s comfort.

Objective 1. Support Oddormeanchey students so that they can come to continue their study at university 2. Support people’s heath 3. Provide professional training upon their capacity and the need 4. Provide agricultural technic, agro-industries and market. Vision Be a crucial part to help to develop any fields, especially education locally; and to help to encourage students to further their studies till university. Mission Our mission is to supports Oddormeanchey students and to urge local people to understand the importance of education and other fields. Activities Students Association of Oddormeanchey has a dormitory for Oddormeanchey students to live and are possible to continue their study at university. More than accommodation, our association provides students internship, training, exchanging experiences, living in the community, and learning to struggle any problems.
