CONCEPT PROPOSALS
In the eastern world, red is ofen be the symbolize of fortune and happiness, or the origin of life. However, the perception of red is quite different between western countries and eastern countries. I want to integrate my background culture into my contemporary design, and convey the beauty of red to the public. Red can be hard or forbidding, but it can also show the soft, elegant and feminine feeling.
The name of the collection is 紅色東西 ( Something Red ). The chinese name is more meaningful than the enflish name, there are two different meanings in the chinese name, one is the design made with all red fabrics, the other is mean that I want to share the beauty and elegance of red colour from the eastern world to the western world. 東 means the east and 西 means the west.

In early 2017, a korean band called Hyukoh released a music video_Wanli (万里 ). I was deeply touched by this music video till now, the way they showed the beauty of the Inner Mongolia desert, and the combination of traditional red colour, chinese lyrics and rhythms. The most impressive part of the music video of course was the outfits they wore, they were not the real chinese traditional costumes, not only be trendy in different fabrics and clothing patterns, but included their thoughts and concepts. Despite those were the mens wear, the sense of the unisex clothings was still meaningful to my design concepts.
In the Taoistic Confucianism : The most perfect statue of our lives was having a happy excurision between heaven and earth. They also emphasised natural harmony and kept the clothing simple. That is why the drawing of Taoist figures often wearing the loose robes without accessory. I want to combine the Taoistic Confucianism and chinese knots to my design in a new way. With comfortable clothing, red ribbons and knots.

Mongolian traditional costumes inspired me a lot. The costume is a robe-like garment called a deel, like the Tibetan robe, which is worn with a thin silk sash several yards long tightly wound around the waist.Also, the conditions of climate excert influence on the kind of dress. The materials from which the dresses were sewn were either produced by the people themselves, such as "leather, wool, and fur", or dresses have been made from silk, cotton, wool, and brocades and were richly decorated with jewellery, corals, pearls, and precious stones. The dresses and ribbons can also present the beauty of human bodies and generous personalities of Mongolian.
I made the clothing with some silks and soft fabrics to present the feminine feeling, also used some pearl and metal buttons for the decoration.
