WHAT IS ESSENTIAL IS INVISIBLE TO THE EYES THAT SOMEBODY HUNGER THE CEREMONY OF BIRTH AND GENIUS

Curator / Ya-Siang Yang Designer / Chiaoyi Chang Client / Waley Art

On Ne Fait Rien En Ce Moment > Music Album Design, 2018
Art Director / Jun Su Designer / Chiaoyi Chang, Jun Su, Hong Chen Photographer / Jie Yin, Chi Chen Client / The Murky Crows
“On Ne Fait Rien En Ce Moment “ is a music album of a Taiwanese band _ The Murky Crows, and I designed the lyrics book. Different from common music albums, this is explicated as romantic poetry, which keeps abundant emotions and secrets in it. The romantic lyrics is just like love letters to the audience. We borrowed the format of postcards which always contain abundant feelings. The lyric is printed with silver and black inks to build up subtle yet rich imaginary.
Making beautiful and organic torn edge is the most challenging part of this project. Since die-cut is too sharp and clean, the only way to the ideal result is simply doing it by human hand. We first cut the wanted shape on a cardboard, used it as a guide to wet the edge of the printed lyrics, and then tore them with hands.
Every lyrics book is all very different and unique. I always like the moment when I could give some organic touches to mass produced matters.

From Nothing to Everything > Poster Design, 2019
This is a design work from Hidden Beauty workshop by Takaaki Bando, Professor of Musashino Art University
Burning joss paper is a Taiwanese folklore. The papers were burnt by people, carries the blessing and wishes to Gods and ancestors. In the other words, the joss papers are the connection between two worlds. I think the process of burning joss paper, from visible to invisible, is very poetic and romantic. Papers are burnt to ashes, but also bring the blessings, It is like we are trying to say something, but we use "nothing" to say it. ( ç„Ąćœ‰ )

What is Essential is Invisible to the Eyes > Window Display, 2018
Designer / Chiaoyi Chang, Yiche Feng Prop maker / Chiaoyi Chang, Yiche Feng Photographer / Yiaan Chen Client / Surprise Lab.
This project is for a restaurant called Dining in the dark. As its name implies, it took place in a totally dark room, where the customers see nothing, including the food they eat. The window display was inspired by The Little Prince — "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." So the key ideas is to present “Hidden Surprise”. We hope to delight the fun part of experiencing eating without seeing things. The color scheme is built with black and yellow, which means dark and light.
The display contains many stories and objects, and some objects even have hidden gimmicks. The staff can enter the left window, open up some boxes and flag as an entertaining show for the awaiting guests.
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

“That Somebody is a humorous and rhythmic film directed by Elvis and I in 2019. I did directing, script, storyboard, set design and title design. The story is about an ordinary days of a busy and common office employee. All the repetitive movements from works followed the rhythm, and with the plot getting more intense, the speed of rhythm went up. Although the busy employee was impatient and irritated by works, she still did all the details well. When she finished all the to-do list, she got a sense of achievement, and that was the vigor for next day.

ABSTRACT MOVIE CLIPS SKETCHBOOK DRAWINGS THE FOLDS OF BODY DAILY PRACTICES
Abstract Movie Clips > Serial Drawings, 2018
The “Abstract Movie Clips series is a serial artwork in 2018. During the university class in 2018, I was introduced to many European and American classic movies, and began to be very interested in them. I got a lot of inspirations from them, so she then tried to depict these movies by making abstract drawings. This series are drawn with basic geometric elements. The circles might be a person or a complete chapter, the lines are interpreted as fragments, wounds or connections. I believes that abstract images provides a broader imagination and less limitation for the audience to read the context.

Sketchbook Drawings > Drawings, 2019
These are the works selected from my sketchbooks in 2019. I particularly like to use washi tape and pencil to compose marks and shapes. I keep doodling and drawing on sketchbooks since I was little. It gives me great relaxing pleasure.
The Folds of Body > Drawings, 2019-2020
This series was started in order to find my visual language. Since 2018 I began participating life drawing sessions. I found the relation between human body, limbs and space very intriguing. Bodies are expandable, beautiful and infinite. The shapes are drawn more abstract to blur the boundary of body and space. I believe there are still a lot of possibilities in this topic. I mainly using pencils, pens, crayons, and various tapes.
Daily Practices > Drawings, 2018-2019
Plants, living spaces, and emotions are the most frequent things in my drawings.
