After three years studying architecture, I decided to focus my attention on human-scale spaces and interior and exhibition design. Being always passionate about the theme of the reuse and fascinated by dealing with existing heritage and archaeological ruins, I’m now attending a new post graduate master program related to this field.
This portfolio is a work selection aiming to show my versatile formation and my passion for design in different fields.

Valorisation of the Imperial Villa of Vedius Pollio location _ Archaeological Park of Pausilypon and Gaiola, Naples tutor _ Prof. Pier Federico Caliari in collaboration with _ Claudia Cagliani

Campania
coast,
characterized
by healthy climate and beautiful landscape, since Roman times was considered a perfect spot to host Otium Villae, placed in strategic sites. The equestrian Publius Vedius Pollio’s Villa, built in the I century BC on the Cape of Posillipo, was one of its most important example. The extension of the complex and the beauty of its panoramic views persuaded the princeps Augustus to turn it into an Imperial Residence. Now the site is divided in two entities: The Archaeogical Park of Pausilypon and the one of Gaiola. The main target of the thesis is the valorisation of the archaeological site through the design of new services that could be promoters of economy and maintenance of the Archaeological Park. The project want to create a large route to link the main polarity of the ancient villa and phisically reconnect the two parks. In addiction, the will to redefine the identity of the different sectors and the constant dialogue with the pre-existence and panorama, leds us to an architectural language research related to the reinterpretation of Mediterranean and archaic archetypes without forgotting the contemporary language.

Y-RC From the hull to the yacht interiors location _ tutor _ Prof. Pier Federico Caliari in collaboration with _ Roberto Gherardi
concept The aim of the project is to create two versions, open and cab, of a tender of maximum 9 meters lenght, used for short trips. The project has been developed in scales 1:20, 1:10, and 1:1; final maquettes have been realized at scale 1:10. First of all the project required a depht analysis of naval construction techniques and of the Italian nautical history; The result of this phase of study has been the modeling of the hull, the shape of which is inspired by the famous sporty Delta designed in the 60s by Renato Sonny Levi. Both versions are made by a wooden structure - whose coating is made with the technique of cold molding - and have the wheelhouse forward, accessible through the gunwale, and a sundeck position. In the cab version the service block separates the interior space of the living room from the outside. In the open version the wheelhouse leans to the board in order to support the structure of the sunshade, which is essential for the enjoyment of the open air. The program required a careful design of the furnishings; In particular, the dashboard has been drawn to a scale of 1:1 with the realization of a model to true.

MICHELANGELO & THE GREAT BEAUTY Museography and exhibition location _ Basilica Palladina, Vicenza tutor _ Prof. Pier Federico Caliari in collaboration with _ Ylenia Ardizzone & Antonino Mirabile
site and concept The aim of the exhibition is to celebrate the 450th Anniversary of Michelangelo’s death. The installation is placed in the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza and it also concerns corporate, website and fingerfood design for the vernissage. The concept of the exhibition “MIRABILIA: Michelangelo and the Great Beauty” is based on the idea of Capriccio, a composition of unreal that through contemplation of extraordinary architectures generates in the viewer a sense of awe and wonder. The goal is to compose a new architecture made of the most stunning architectures; the operation involves Piazza dei Signori, the facade of the Palladian Basilica, Piazza delle Erbe, the gallery, leading to a new architectural composition in the heart of the exhibition. The installation is made by blue fabric. The technique used involves a metal structure that follows the profiles of buildings, in which is then stretched an elastic semi-transparent fabric. The project also required a selection of art masterpieces: the sculptures choosed are some of the most significant works of the great masters of Italian sculpture: Michelangelo, Bernini and Canova.

SMITHSON RELOADED Re-qualification of Robin Hood Gardens location _ East London, UK tutor _ Prof. Gennaro Postiglione in collaboration with _ Chiara Giussani & Viola Grassenis
site and concept The aim of the project is the re-qualification of Robin Hood Gardens, a social residential housing designed in the sixties by Alison & Peter Smithson. The main goal of the project is to reconnect the complex with the city; To do so we choose to study the flows of the inhabitants. This analysis lead to the creation of two gates throughout the building and to the design of a new commercial ground floor. Those actions and the requalification of the park nearby, allowed to realize an attractive point for the neighbours. In order to create new apartments we decided to add two new floors over both buildings, reusing the deck distribution and to increase the volumetry of the apartments at the ground floor.

ART CENTER Redesign the existent location _ via Padova, Milano tutor _ Prof. Imma Forino in collaboration with _ Roberto Gherardi & Giuseppe Giuliano
site and concept The aim of the project is to “redesign the existent” through the switch of an old industrial building into a “contemporary art center”. The building has been studied and analysed in depth in all its formal and functional aspects, underlining possible criticities and opportunities. The project uses different scales 1:100, 1:50 and 1:20; with maquettes at 1:200, 1:100 e 1:50. The main goal of the project is to unify the heterogeneous complex, linking its most important volumes. In order to create a visual and spatial connection within the 7 different buildings, we decided to valorize the external spaces that today are completely neglected. The link is generated by the intersection of the “3 voids”. This point generates an “explosion”, identifiable into an internal square which is the point of connection of all the volumes. The project involves also the analysis of the internal design, from the simplex and duplex accomodations for artists to the ateliers and exhibition areas, from the coffee shop and the library to the auditorium and the exterior spaces.

Building Babel MoMA expansion: Archaeological vertical museum location _ 53th street - 5th Avenue, New York tutor _ Prof. Leoni (Politecnico di Milano) Prof. Pier Federico Caliari (Politecnico di Milano) in collaboration with _ C, Cagliani, A. Pislaru, V. Tria, N. Turotti
site and concept The workshop required to design a new vertical museum in Manhattan, next to the MoMa, in order to contain the archaeologies of all the different cultures of the world. Inspired by the story of the Turris Babel, the concept of the project is the idea of the “building site”, permanently in motion and under construction. The museum is a dynamic building, a “machine à exposer” always able to attract and amaze the visitors: the aim of the exhibition is to show the paralelism between the different cultures through a series of moving rooms, expositive machines that lift and connect different tematic floors. Each visitor can choose the route and the connections that interest him the most, and can define in advance his path inside the museum. The skyscraper is 200 meters high and in addition to the museum, it hosts also a restaurant, a lounge bar with terrace and ten floor of residences.

MUSEUMINSEL Expositive pavillion and exhibition inside Neues location _ Museuminsel, Berlino tutor _ Alexander Schwartz (David Chipperfield Architects) Prof. Pier Federico Caliari (Politecnico di Milano)
Forming Civilisation in
EGYPT and CHINA site and concept The workshop required both the design of a new expositive pavillion in front of the Schloss, in the Museuminsel, and the set up for an exhibition inside the Neues Museum titled “Forming Civilisation in Egypt and China. The aim of the pavillion is to reconnect and reconfigure the final part of the Museuminsel waterfront. So after a deep analisys of the context we decide to enphasize the rhythm of solids and voids made by the colums of the existing museums, creating a long stoa. In the exhibition the aim is to show the paralelism between two cultures so different but at the same time so similar. To do so we designed a second skin fabric that riconfigure the underground spaces of Neues and hold at the same time new showcases and some existing ones.

PRIX DE ROME Museography, architecture & archaelogy first prize location _ Villa Adriana, Tivoli in collaboration with _ Ylenia Arcdizzone, Claudia Cagliani & Serena Dolci
site and concept The competition required the design of a new museum with a library, conference space and related services within the archaeological area of the Domus Imperiale Villa Adriana. The goal of the project is to recreate the sequence of architectures, the succession of full and empty spaces, that are the basis of the composition of the entire Hadrian’s Villa. The draft of the new flooring allows to re-read the configuration space of the courts, distinguishing the internal spaces from one of the galleries of the buildings in ruins. The volumetric addiction is concentrated in the central part of the complex. Here the insertion of small buildings recreate the original boundaries between the courts. The new fits on the site in order to suggest the spaciousness of the old buildings, never overpowering or hiding the ruins. The museum, focused in the central part of the domus, is located both inside and outside, and it is made by two new galleries. The auditorium is located at a higher level; from its coverage it has a privileged view of the entire domus and in particular of the symmetry that runs down the middle of the rooms.

ESTUDI D’ARQUITECTURA Cap de Creus, a new artificial landscape location _ Cadaques, Catalunya in collaboration with _ Emilio Avanzi & Daphne Zografou
site and concept The contest of the project is Cap de Creus, a peninsula of 10000 Ha located at the far northeast of Catalunya, 25 kilometres south from the French border. The area is now recognised as natural park, a place where the Pyrenees get into the water, generating an exceptional wildlife richness, both in the coast and in the water. The aim of this work is to analyse the changes that the human intervention has made on the territory over the years, succeeding in creating a new artificial landscape. The natural park of Cap de Creus is in fact an agricultural land, heavly shaped by men: kilometres of drystone walls parcel out the the peninsula creating artificial terraces for vineyards and olive tree groves. The entire surface of Cap de Creus is dotted by thousands of little stone rural buildings used by men over the centuries to safeguard the fields and to cultivate the soil. The study finally focuses on the area of Cadaques, a small fisherman village, producing a comparison between the projects of famous catalan architects for the area and the rural buildings, examples of spontaneous architecture.

STUDIO PIUERRE Furniture design location _ Milano in collaboration with _ studio +R
target The projects shown in this pages concern the furniture design and the study of the details related to the interiors. The main materials used for the realisation of these works are white laminated plywood, birch wood planks and wooden dowels. The first furniture, made by three module, has been studied to be the wardrobe and the storage closet for the entry of an apartment in Milan. The succession of different cromatic and dimentional surfaces, and the alternation of solids and voids - glove compartment- help to create a rhytm that break the uniformity of the wall. The second project shows a wall unit that covers the entire lenght of the flat, performing different functions, from wardrobe to storage closet, from bookshelves to television furniture. In this case too the succession of white solids module is interrupted by open birch compartment. The same concept can be found in the last project. It concern a music and computer desk, that can be used by two different sides and that is characterised by a bookcase made of dowels.
