A DECADE OF WATERFRONT PHILANTHROPY

BY GINA VAIRO & NANCY SNYDER

THE 10TH ANNUAL CHICAGO REGATTA IS SEPTEMBER 10, 2022

We’re excited to ring in 10 years of benefiting the youth supported by the CYC Foundation, the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital and SOS Children’s Villages of Illinois, with the city’s premier celebration of the camaraderie and generosity of Chicago’s lakefront community. The 2022 Chicago Regatta will feature one-design and distance racing, model sailboat racing, and a sunset parade of boats. We also look forward to the return of the popular leaderboard and the robust participation it brings to the event. The legendary Sweet Home Chicago dock party will include live music and a strolling dinnertour of the tastes of our unique Chicago neighborhood cultures.

The Chicago Regatta unites racers, casual boaters, and shore-side enthusiasts from throughout our community around a shared passion and purpose. The collective altruism of our waterfront community achieved a new record in 2021, as the event gave more than $156,000 to our three charities. Traditionally, a 10-year anniversary gift is that of aluminum, a metal that is a testament to strength and resilience. Despite a global pandemic, the Regatta proved the strength and resilience of our members’ and community’s commitment to supporting children across Chicago in 2021. We extend our most heartfelt and grateful thanks to our 87 incredible medal donors, leaderboard participants, and sponsors: Wintrust, Pinnacle Foundation, Pinnacle Yachts, BMW, and Larsen Marine.

We’re excited to see participation soar in our 10TH Chicago Regatta. We look forward to welcoming one and all – let’s make 2022 our best year yet! ✶
