HOW TO BECOME A DOUBLE GOAT
How Does A Sailor Become A Double Goat Honoree?
A Double Goat Honoree is dedicated to preserving and promoting the nautical heritage of sailors who are members of the Island Goats Sailing Society, Chicago (“IGSS”) and the Society of Mackinac Island Old Goats, Detroit (“SMIG”).
To be a member of the IGSS, a sailor must complete 25 or more Race to Mackinac races. To be a member of the SMIG, a sailor must complete 25 or more Bayview Mackinac Race races. Sailor members of both the IGSS and the SMIG are affectionally known as a “Double Goat Honoree” or “Double Goat”. With pride of accomplishment, Double Goat Honorees wear the badge of honor.
