Welcome to Our 2025 Production Sale

Welcome to the Ipsen Cattle Company’s 12th annual Online production sale. 2024 has been a year that has been very challenging yet so full of blessings. We are grateful for all our friends and family who have offered prayers and help for Becky and me as we paddled along the path that was laid out for us. We can only say thank you, and if it had not been for all of you, I’m not sure the outcome would have been what it has been. WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED.

We are excited to have RanchHQ as our sale platform again and look forward to working with them again. Please look it over prior to sale time to get used to how things run. Get signed up early so you are ready come sale time. Be familiar with all the sale terms and remember we are always here to help or to show the cattle at your convenience.

You can run the wheels off your truck and be away from the calving barn all you want but you won’t find any better bulls than here. We offer fall bulls that have been developed slowly and under sound feeding principles (no hot feed just to brag on their gain). We do this for the well-being and longevity of the animal and we believe a fall bull will run circles around all the spring yearling bulls that are being offered for sale this spring. I know you will easily get more bull for the amount paid at this sale than anywhere you look this spring.

Logan has again helped us as an eye in the field as he sees more bulls and sire groups than anyone we know. His keen eye and ability to assess good cattle gives us a huge advantage in our sire selection. We are always looking for ways to increase the value of our bulls for our buyers. At the end of the day, after they have been Measured, Tested, Weighed, and Sifted, we offer them to you.

We have to take this time to say thank you to Brandon Johnson. He has stepped forward to help us in a pretty tough year. We have had some great help in the past and Brandon has measured up to all of them. I have leaned on him a lot this year and say thanks for all he has given back to us.

All cattle selling have been parent verified, EPD’s genomically enhanced, Right Choice designated and all bulls have been PAP tested to give you the highest level of predictability possible. Pay attention to the footnotes in RanchHQ. These will take precedence over all printed material. It will act similar to announcements made over the auction block in a live sale. If you have questions, please call in advance.

BULL BUYERS: Pap testing has been the “in thing” lately and many breeders are doing it. This is our 8th year of testing. We believe in the scores and have trust in Dr. Lott. If you have questions please ask. Here is the recommendation that Dr. Holt has set for scores: 43 PAP score and lower can run at any elevation, scores at 44-51 to 7500’, and scores above 52 should stay at lower elevations.

HEIFER BUYERS. Take a good look at the heifers offered this year. The quality is phenomenal again. Every heifer in the sale is quality enough to go into a registered program. Take advantage here. Ask us about our calf buyback. We believe in these genetics.

Thank you for your support in the past and we look forward to continuing to earn your trust in the future. For those that may be new to us please feel free to call anytime. We like discussing cattle. We are grateful to have made so many friends in this business. Please join us on sale day for a tri-tip lunch.

A Special Thank You OUR CATALOG DESIGNER

ALSO THANK YOU TO...

Photographer Katie Colyer and our wonderful photo day team!

The Targeting the Brand logo is designed to highlight registered Angus bulls with greater genetic potential to produce calves meeting the most challenging specifications of the Certified Angus Beef brand. Bulls must meet genetic requirements of +0.65 Marbling EPD and +55 Dollar Grid ($G) to qualify.

Ipsen cattle has been measuring and selecting for maternal excellence in the three breeds that we produce. The Hereford breed introduced it many years ago and see the benefits it has produced. The program, regardless of the breed, is designed to capture additional reproductive trait data and ultimately expand reproductive productivity in the herd.

By submitting all our data and driving ourselves to study more economically relevant traits in our herd, we are able to offer data that is transparent to our customers and allows them to rely on the data produced by the associations based on maternal genetics. Our dedication to our cow herd is second to none. It has been a commitment to account for every female in the herd, one in which has paid of for us and we feel will pay for our customers as well.

Genomics: Don’t just take our word for it

Now producers can make more rapid genetic progress than ever before with genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs). Genetic evaluation also means commercial producers of registered cattle can make selection decisions with increased confidence in the accuracy of genetic predictions and assured Parent verification.

All lots have GE-EPD profiles.

HERD BULL CANIDATE, CALVING EASE WITH GROWTH, MATERNAL POWER, LOW PAP.

Used as a clean up bull on Heifers. There is not better way to start the sale than with this stellar son of ICC 72A Pride 3212 808. This is her third time of having her son start our sale. GROWTH BULL FOR COWS ONLY, LOW RISK PAP SCORE, TWIN

Lou was a twin and raise on our nurse cow along with four other mates. He always caught my eye for his thickness and doability. He follows his sire in that he is more moderate in stature, is set on very sound feet and legs. I like his ability to track closely on the move. His dam is a high maternal cow that comes from good foundation genetics. She remains as one of the best uddered cow in the herd after many years of service. Deep bodied, highly fertile and sound feet and legs has kept her in the herd for many years. Put some stars by this one as he will be a workhorse!

Cullpepper has been a favorite of many, as has many of 514’s sons. His dam is a cornerstone female for us. She brings in one of the best every year. At 10 years old she is starting to show some wear but one of the best heifer calves is her’s again. 3514 is correct from all angles, has meat and muscle to spare, good feet and legs to carry him and PAP figures to allow him to work at any elevation. He is extra powerful in his hindquarter and over his top. A very deep bull with lots of heart girth. 3604 tracks well and has great feet and legs. This unique bull is from one of our top producing Black Granite daughters that is a nice uddered, heavy milking cow. She traces back to the 86T cow in which we have built our herd around. We are starting a new sire group with a bull we call Young Gun. Another bull that we have had our eye on since birth. He is thick made, structurally correct from the ground up and has all the muscle and mass needed to make outstanding steers that will keep the buyers coming back. Judging Coach always taught us “a good bull HAS to look like a good bull.” So true and Young Gun is that kind. You won’t be in the pen long before you find him. Who says you you can’t get Growth, Maternal and Carcass in one package. Put him to work and see your results! Dam’ s production CI: 2 @ 393, Avg. Cowboy is a result of our bull buy back program. His dam was purchased in a previous sale then we bought

to go back into the sale. We do believe the females we sell are good enough to raise bulls from. He has as many top end sires in his 3 generation pedigree as we could stack. Sires such as Black Granite, 316 Exclusive, Paywight 1682 and the Diamond in the rough,

CALVING EASE WITH SUPERVISION, EARLY GROWTH, GREAT PAP SCORES

Ringer was a twin to a heifer calf. We raised him on a bottle and at weaning time being sired by Tahoe we felt we could give him a chance. He has excellent projections to sire big calves with lots of milk and maternal in his pedigree. We recommend him on heifer that are larger or under supervision. His PAP score will allow him to run at any elevation. Don’t shy away from this bull he may be the bargin of the whole sale.

I always like it when the 730 cow has a bull calf. A sleep all night claving ease prospect that will pass milk and maternal onto his offspring. What Our Customers Say...

“ Fads in cattle breeding seem to come and go , but I have found that Mark and Becky at Ipsen Cattle have developed their program around producing consistent, sound cattle that function in harsh environments are phenotypically correct and have the traits desired by producers and consumers alike. January calving in Bear Lake is always challenging but calves come easy with moderate birth weights, great vigor, and tip the scales at sale time. ”

Here is a terminal bull that will give you all the power and punch you need on some black Hided cows with his Growth, Carcass and TI (Terminal Index) projections backed up by his actual perfomance data. However, If you desire to retain some white faced females he will add Maternal into those retained females. He has the extra frame to help some moderate sized cows produce scale crushing steers come sale day. Run him at any elevation.

One of the first calves from our Pinedale bull that we share with Justin Reynolds. Several generations of good hardy females that are lined up in this gal. Shorten the cycle with these bred heifers to capitalize on the calf prices. AI’d 11/22/24 to Basin Jameson 1067 (20071781). Pasture Exposed ICC J120 APOLLO 3808 (20818457) 12/4/24 to 3/4/25.

A good solid Pinedale hiefer from on older Miss cow that always brings in a solid calf as you can tell by her actual performance data, 3% above herd average for both weaning and yearling weights. For a late september heifer she has done well and I believe there is Power to be gained from Pinedale being on the top side. I mated her to Bear to bring in some more maternal power for her new owner. Watch this one become the one you are glad you bought when your down the road telling me what a great cow she turned out to be. AI’d 11/22/24 to ICC Bear 47C (18263846). This is one of the last Montana heifers we will sale. Look at the EPD projections that she has posted. There is some power in the Pride family of cows and this nice young heifer will make you smile next September as she has that first calf. Remember we offer a buy back on the calves from these sale heifers. We believe in the genetics and know how they will perform. Often we hear “she had a heifer calf and I don’t believe I want to let her go!” Pasture Exposed ICC J120 APOLLO 3808 (20818457) 12/4/24 to 3/4/25.

Someone may say “who made up the sale order” when looking at this heifer but if you did your homework you will find her pretty easy. Out of a very young cow that sustained an udder injury messing around with a culvert edge. We are happy with her progress for the circumstances she had. She doubled her weight from weaning to yearling on good ole Dingle grass. Sit back and smile when she produces what her EPD projections tell us she is capable of doing. “ Great people with great cattle! We’ve bought bulls from the Ipsen’s for many years . We look for bulls that will last in our environment, and we’ve found that our Ipsen bulls excel. We need cattle that will produce pounds at weaning while maintaining phenotype to make great replacement heifers – Ipsen’s bulls produce both. You can rest assured that Ipsen genetics will work for you.. ”

DBC: 70.375% BH, Hetro Black/Hetro polled. Check out this fancy Poundmaker daughter! She may be the most powerful heifer in the sale this year. Look at her EPD profile, then look at her actual performance record. I am willing to say there has not nor will there be a heifer for sale in the Black Hereford breed with this much power and performance, across the board, this year. She was not treated any different than any of our other heifers, she was not brought into the show barn and pushed: she did this on mothers milk during the winter and grass this summer. Again, I’m going to leave the evaluation to you to. I am going to hit the “SLEEPER ALERT” button on her however!! AI’d 11/22/24 to SBH 71 32 Al CAPONE 1970 (HB017418) ) HOMO black/HETRO Polled. 95.3755% BH, Hetro black/ hetro polled. A very high percentage Poundmaker daughter out of a really functional Red Hereford cow. She is a very stylish heifer with Maternal power through and through. The Stacie family are known for the neat and tidy udders with short teats and heavy milking type cows. When looking at 321’s pedigree you find Sweet red wine, who is arguably the best Red Hereford cow in the breed. AI’d 11/22/24 to JN Balder 951K (HB026411) Homo Black/Hetro Polled. 86.975% BH, Hetro Black/Horned. 329 is a Horned heifer sired by Poundmaker and going back to the Iron Lady 124T cow from JM farms. She was known as the Carcass queen in their Donor pen, as you can see from the EPD’s that she passed on to this fancy young heifer. I really like how she has developed and is becoming a very impressive but moderate individual. I expect her to be heavy milking with a nice udder and plenty of milk flow to raise a nice calf for a long time for her new owner. There are not many heifers in the sale that show the thickness and muscle across her top line as this girl does. AI’d 11/25/24 to JN Balder 951K (HB026411) Homo Black/Hetro Polled. in our breeding program, just as I think this nice end of September heifer will turn out to be for her new owner. She is so eloquent and feminine in her front 1/3 with a nice blend from her neck to her shoulders. She will make a front pasture cow. DBC, 75% BH, Hetro Black/Homo polled by pedigree. 307 is a really cool Master Plan heifer that is stripe faced and black to the ground. She has lots going for her with an EPD profile that is loaded with top of the breed numbers. Her dam is one of our good Bear daughters that we call the workhorse. She produces some of our better calves every year and the kind that will keep a person in the bull business. I have almost stopped selling my Margy bred cows since they treat us so well. Easy keepers, fertile, travel to the top of the mountain type cows, doing this plus raising us top end calves each and every year. Take all those fancy bulls with the glossy pictures and watch these Margy cows produce circles around them. AI’d 11/23/24 to JN Balder 951K (HB026411) Homo Black/Hetro Polled. 95.375% BH, HX Hetro polled. 322 is a nice marked HX heifer out of a very big 719T cow. This line tends to be a tic high for birth weight but they make very attractive big middled, big topped type of cattle that will excell out on pasture. I have not doubt when this Poundmaker heifer gets into production she will surprise you just how big she gets. She will have a sound udder with teats that will be just a tic longer than some but very functional. I have raised some very big, highly sought after bulls with the 521 cow. Put her on pasture and she has enough capacity to take care of herself and bring in top end calf year after year. She will have a black calf the way we bred her. It is very unfortunate that we only have one F1 heifer this year. You really could see just how good this female is with some comparison. I always hear “she is good because she is a F1”. I say no she is good because she has been designed to be good. Sitz and Schaff breeding on the top, a little Holden and Rausch breeding on the bottom. Whichever way she goes, registered breeder or commercial this female is going to leave a mark on that herd. She is powerful enough to end up in a donor pen rather quickly. Her EPD’s are top tier, to produce standout bulls or replacement quality females. As we grow in the ABHA we need these good genetic brought in the from the Angus and Hereford lines to power our cattle up. She will look solid black but she has a little bit of white on her face. Her dam is a tic to the small side but her sire is an older school bull that has been solid for us raising Angus bulls and outstanding females that have been solid producers for many of our good customers. Use her to power up your EPD’s both in growth and Carcass. Again, I’m hitting the “sleeper alert” button. AI’d 11/23/24 to JN Balder 951K (HB026411) Homo Black/Hetro Polled. “ We are repeat buyers with Mark and Becky because they are so good to work with. Their transparency in sharing insights leading up to the sale, flexibility in working through delivery, and follow up after the purchase are unmatched in the industry in our opinion.
