Brynn, 8, was diagnosed with spinal cord ependymoma, at the beginning of 2014. She completed treatment at MD Anderson a few months later. Brynn is a fun-loving third grader who enjoys arts and crafts, reading, writing, and drawing pictures to illustrate the stories she creates. She also likes to make up jokes, and when she is around, laughter is soon to fill the room. The Children’s Art Project helped her be even more creative in her artwork. She learned new techniques that enhance her three dimensional designs, like fabric stitching and upcycling something old into something new.

Ksenia, 14, traveled from her native Russia to receive treatment at MD Anderson. During her stay here she has found great solace in the Children’s Art Project. Whenever she feels upset, she pours herself into her art and soon feels better. Ksenia is intrigued by small little worlds that are often overlooked, and likes to create designs that draw you into them. She adds unexpected and whimsical details, hoping to bring joy to those who find them. Ksenia also enjoys cross-stitching, scrapbooking, and making bracelets and cards. Emily, from Lake Jackson, Texas, has created many designs for the Children's Art Project. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma at age 11, Emily underwent multiple surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation to beat back her disease.
