Spondylus Productions. Produce: Chilemonos The 3rd International Animation Festival Chilemonos 2014, opens its inscriptions to the festival, which will take place in Santiago, Chile from May 7th to May 11th of 2014.

1. GENERAL TERMS
1.1. The 3rd International Animation Festival Chilemonos 2014, opens its summoning to show animation works to the official contests on the Festival. 1.2. Participants must be 18 or older and may submit their work collectively or individually. Submissions from all countries are eligible. Each animation work must meet the basic technical standards to allow its future exhibition. 1.3. There is no application fee. 1.4. For all the categories there will be a specific online application sheet, which can be found in the Festival’s website www.festivalchilemonos.cl

2. APPLICATION DATE
2.1. Application period: Between October 1 of 2013 and January 3 of 2014, before 12pm of Continental Chile (GMT -3).

3. COMPETITION CATEGORIES
For each competition, the work must have a maximum length of 30 minutes following the international standard. In the animated series category, there is no restriction on length. 3.1 International animated short films competition Foreign short film official selection. Chile and Latin America are excluded from this category. Best International Short Film Award will be presented to one film, as well as recognition to those who came in second and third place. 3.2 Latin American Short Film competition Latin American Short Film official selection. Chile is excluded from this category. The Best Latin American Short Film Award will be presented.
"La Noche Boca Arriba" Hugo Covarrubias (Chile) Best National Short Film 2013
3.3 National Short Film competition. National Short Film official selection. The National Short Film Award will be presented to a Chilean film. 3.4 International Experimental Short Film competition Official selection of short films that are experimental in narrative and aesthetics. Chile and Latin America are included on this category. The Best Experimental Short Film Award will be presented. 3.5 International school Short Films competition Official selection oriented to the exhibition of short films produced under the wing of Institutional Schools, Universities
and Professional Institutes, developed during their school years or grade exam. This category excludes Chile. The Best International School Short Film Award will be presented. 3.6 National school Short Films competition Official selection oriented to the exhibition of short films produced under the wing of Institutional Schools, Universities and Professional Institutes, developed during their school years or grade exam. The submissions must come from Chilean students. The festival will verify that each applicant fulfills the requirements to be considered a student. The Best National School Short Film Award will be presented, as well as recognition to those who came in second and third place.

3.7 Latin American animated series competition Official selection oriented to the exhibition of animated series and web series produced by independent, producers or TV Channels, with or without state funding, released before the application date. Latin American open call includes Chile. Only one episode of each series can be submitted to the competition. Best Latin-American Animated Series Award will be presented. 3.8 Focus series. National animated series competition. Official selection oriented to the exhibition of animated series for children produced by independent, producers or TV Channels, with or without state founding, that aren’t released yet.
National summoning. Only one episode of each series can be submitted to the competition. The winner of this category will be chosen by children who will vote at their schools all across the country. The Best Focus Series Award will be presented. 3.9 National WIPS competition (Work in Progress) Official selection oriented to the exhibition of the Work in Progress made by independent animators, producers or TV Channels, with or without state funding. This category is open to works such as trailers, teasers, and synopses of Short Films, feature films, series, music videos, among other formats. The works must be in finishing process, not released yet. National summoning.

3 minutes maximum length. There will be a web portal open to the public where the audience can watch the works and vote online. The Best WIPS (Work in progress) will be presented.

4. APPLICATION GENERAL TERMS
4.1. The submitted works must have been completed after January 1st, 2011. 4.2. All types of animation are eligible to submit. 4.3. If the work isn’t in Spanish, it must have English subtitles or be accompanied by a dialogue list. 4.4. The only valid channel for applications will be the Online Sheet that can be found in www.festivalchilemonos.cl . integrated by audiovisual media personalities of the arts and the culture, national and foreign, who will determinate which productions will be selected for each competition. The committee decision is final. 4.7. DVDs and material submitted to the competition will not be returned and will be part of the historical archive of the Festival. 4.8. The submission of any work to the festival is based on complete compliance with the standards above. Each applicant, by sending his or her work, declares ownership of said work and authorizes the public exhibition of the work during the period of the festival (May 6th-11th, 2014) in the City of Santiago de Chile, under the Chilean Law N潞 17.336 of Intellectual Property. The undersigned of the application form also declares that in case their project compromises, concerns or includes the
total or the partial use of works protected by the national or international legislation of Intellectual Property and whose owners of intellectual property rights are different to those that undersigned the application form, it counts on the express authorization of the work by the owner of the intellectual rights executing the formalities indicated in the present rules and considering exceptions of the III article of the indicated law. The authorization means the given permission of the owner of intellectual rights in any conventional form, in order to use the work in forms established by the legislation of intellectual property.

4.9. The festival is not responsible for any mistake or confusion regarding intellectual rights. 4.10. The festival reserves the right to make decisions in any cases not specified in the above rules.

5. JURY
5.1. The jury will be composed by professional filmmakers from the animation community, workers, cultural managers, the festival directors and international participants associated with the specific events. 5.2. Anyone directly related to the works will be disqualified from the jury. 5.3. The jury’s decision is final.

6. OFFICIAL SELECTION IN COMPETITION
6.1. Official Selection will be announced on February 3 of 2014 in the www.festivalchilemonos.cl website. The submitted works will automatically accept the use of their images for the promotion of the festival’s competition in the media. 6.2. The works selected in the Official Selection will received an Official Digital Certification. 6.3. The creators of the selected works will be contacted by e-mail and will be given instructions about the format required and where to send the material. Works which do not arrive on time will be automatically disqualified.

7. SENDING COPIES
7.1. The applicant is responsible for all costs related to shipping and postage of their works for pre-selection and Official selection. 7.2. The selected material for the Official Selection must be sent with the necessary precautions to protect the work. 7.3. The festival is not responsible for any damage or losses which occur during shipment.
