CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE Dear Members, Horse race meetings at the RBSC are a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Bangkok. If you have not been for a while then do come along and enjoy a day at the races with friends. Horse racing has been associated with the Club since its foundation in 1901. Indeed the Club’s Royal Charter makes reference to that close connection and over the years the RBSC has benefitted handsomely from racing. However in recent times the number of race goers has dwindled and it has become harder for Racing Committees to keep the losses to an acceptable level and to find support for the necessary investments needed to sustain racing at the RBSC. With the above in mind, I jumped at the chance to meet Mr. Fred Done for a drink at the Winning Post early in January. Fred visits Thailand each January and is the owner of a very successful bookmaking company in the UK called BetFred. He also recently purchased the Tote system in the UK from the government and owns a number of race courses among his many businesses. Fred started with one betting shop in the UK in 1967 and now has over 1,350 shops. No doubt he is one of the most knowledgeable men in the horse racing world. I asked him if he thought racing could survive in Bangkok long term. First he said that things here appeared a little like they were back in England fifty years ago before off track betting was legalised. Back then the gambling industry was poorly regulated, in the hands of underground bookmakers and nobody but those closest to the action made any money. Things quickly changed after that as the government later taxed profit rather than turnover, meaning more revenues for the government as well as for charity and the emphasis on horse racing as a recreational day out. Horse racing, Fred admitted, has to work ever harder to compete with football and all sorts of other events that people can now bet on in countries where gambling is legalised. Racing can still play a role if a modern Tote system offers the chance for big wins. He suggested the most popular wager was an accumulator place bet on all races for one meeting that pays out to the person who can successfully pick a horse to finish in

RBSC MAGAZINE

The Chairman with Koh Mr. Saxman at the RBSC New Year’s Eve Party one of the first three places for every race that day. If there is no winner at one meeting the bet rolls over to the next. Up to 65% of all bets placed with the Tote in the UK go onto this roll up bet as it gives average punters the chance for a “life changing” pay out. If there is no winner one week and the pool rolls over, then attendance and turnover at the following meetings, when the prize pool expands, is far higher than normal. He ended the discussion by saying that in his view charity should always be a major beneficiary of any changes to the gambling scene in any country. He thought the RBSC might have a chance to lead the way in re-establishing horse racing in Thailand to be on a par with other major horse racing centres around the world. And he wished us the best of luck!

GM’S PERSPECTIVE Dear Members, The Children’s Christmas Party held on Saturday, 19th December 2015 at the RBSC Polo Club goes from strength to strength each year with over 1,000 Members and their guests attending and enjoying the growing number of attractions and activities. The event offers a great atmosphere and is becoming one of the Club’s firm favourites in the entertainment calendar. The last minute rush for tickets for the New Year’s Eve 2016 event did not disappoint Members, family and friends with Koh Sax and Analogue continuing to be popular choices for the marvelous entertainment they provided up to the countdown and beyond. The event was a fitting way to see in 2016. Management are currently undertaking Membership satisfaction surveys for the RBSC Barbershop, located on the 2nd Floor of the RSC Building, and the Sport Shop located on the Mezzanine Floor of the RSC Building. These surveys will close at 6pm on Wednesday, 2nd March 2016. In addition, we are also undertaking surveys for the RBSC Polo Club Beauty Salon and Barbershop located on the ground floor. These surveys will close at 6pm on Tuesday, 8th March 2016. We would like to encourage your feedback by completion and return of the survey forms which are being sent to Members with their monthly statement. The forms are also available at Membership Services and via email to your registered account for online completion. Finally, I hope you and your families had a refreshing seasonal break and I look forward to seeing you around the Clubs during the year ahead.

Older kids tackled the challenges of a rock-climbing wall, while smaller children particularly enjoyed face painting and drawing, and the pony rides. Guests old and young alike were treated to musical entertainment throughout the afternoon by Lorna & Friends, and a day of festive family fun was rounded off with a mesmerizing magic show. Happy New Year 2016! RBSC Members, their families, friends and guests joined members of the General Committee to ring in the New Year at the RBSC on the evening of Thursday, 31st December 2015. An undoubted highlight of this much-anticipated night of celebration was the live musical entertainment, which began with the popular Analog Band. They were followed by local heroes Koh Mr. Saxman and Tee from The Voice Thailand, who were later joined by accomplished singer Rose Sirinthip. Then glasses were charged and toasts made as the countdown to midnight began. A volley of fireworks heralded the New Year and once the excitement had died down, the Lucky Draw was held. Top prizes this year included round-trip tickets for two to London on Egypt Air, a return flight to Europe on Oman Air; a pair of return flight to Surat Thani with Nok Air, and complimentary 2-night stays at DVaree Hotels and Resorts outlets at Hua Hin and Jomptien Beach, Pattaya. 22 SPORTS ROUND-UP

The Second RBSC Junior Grass Court Championships: A New Era Begins Over the weekend of the 19th-20th December 2015, the Tennis Section successfully staged the Second RBSC Junior Grass Court Championships at the Center Courts. This second edition of the event aimed at allowing junior players more opportunities to compete on grass courts. The RBSC has world-class grass court facilities, which bolster the all-round abilities of the juniors to compete on different surfaces. Given the success of the inaugural Junior Grass Court Championships last year, the event attracted even more participants, both boys and girls, totaling almost fifty juniors across all age groups (6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 years old). The competition was played in a spirit of good sportsmanship with respect for the traditions of tennis, which after all originated on grass. The Tennis Committee decided to hold the Championships in December this year to take advantage of cool, dry weather perfect for grass court tennis. In the midst of the holiday season, the Committee also invited the children’s choir from the Supanimitr (World Vision) Foundation for underprivileged children to come and serenade spectators with favourite Christmas Carols during the lunch break on the Saturday.

Another highlight was a visit from Santa Claus and his favourite elf, who gave out presents to the children’s choir and lucky draw goodies to RBSC juniors. Most importantly, the event raised donations of more than 20,000 Baht for the Supanimitr Foundation. The Tennis Committee feels that it is important to assist those in need, and there is no better time to do this than during the season of giving. Special thanks must go to the Ladies Tennis Subcommittee, the members of which were instrumental in helping to organize the event’s Christmas theme and the related fun activities.

The level of play of the juniors was exceptionally high, causing one Tennis Committee member to remark that he could “Clearly see the vast improvements our juniors have made since last year’s Junior Grass Court Championships, both in terms of performance and tactics on grass.” It is no surprise that many of the RBSC juniors are excelling in nationally-organized junior tournaments, and several are highly-ranked in the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand’s official rankings. The addition of the grass court tournament can only add to their overall tennis acumen. The crowd participation was tremendous. Parents, family and friends, as well as grandparents, came to cheer on the young players, and it was unanimous that holding the RBSC Junior Grass Court Championships in December before Christmas was a perfect combination, and should be continued as an annual tradition to celebrate our club’s juniors, our unique grass court facilities, and the spirit of giving during Christmas and New Year. Tennis at Xmas is here to stay!

DanceSport Steps to a Latin Beat

The DanceSport Committee has pulled off something of a coup in recent weeks, securing the services of dance guru Uapan Snidvongs to teach the Latin disciplines that make up half the ballroom dance canon. Since mid-January, Uapan and two colleagues have been offering instruction in the arts of the rumba, cha-cha-cha, jive, paso doble, and samba at Latin Dance classes held every Tuesday (2-4pm) and Friday (5-7pm & 7-9pm). Involved in dance from an early age, Uapan began teaching at his parents’ dance school in Bangkok when he was just 15. He also studied choreography and dance psychology at academies in the UK and trained under 15time world Latin dance champion Donnie Burns MBE.

Single dancers or couples, it doesn’t matter whether you are just starting out and want to learn the basic Latin steps, or you already have some dance experience and want to polish your moves. It is also a great way to relieve stress and it helps to improve mental agility in the old and young alike. Everyone should dance!”

A competitive international dancer in his youth and a former Asian and Thailand professional Latin champion, today Uapan is a World Dance Council licensed instructor and an executive adjudicator at world championship level. He has worked as chief choreographer for Dancing With The Stars (Thailand) and coached a number of competitive dance champions, including current Amateur Open Latin champion Tony Lufrano, and former world Latin junior champion Puttipong Saharifa, both of whom have been assisting with the DanceSport classes at the RBSC. “We are very fortunate to have Uapan as an instructor,” says DanceSport Committee member Panja Senadisai. “His experience at the top of the local and international worlds of dance is vast and he is an accomplished teacher. Fight Club On Wednesday, 23rd December 2015 members of the RBSC Martial Arts Section enjoyed an outing to Rajadamnern Thai Boxing Stadium, where they joined fight fans from around the country in celebration of the stadium’s 70 years of entertaining the Thai people. The auditorium itself was packed on the night but the RBSC contingent were treated to VIP seating on the second floor, courtesy of welcoming owners Khun Chalermpong Cheosakul and Khun Jit Cheosakul. It was a great evening of close quarter Muay Thai action provided by the best fighters from across Thailand. The spectators witnessed a spectacle of 8 matches, which began with beautiful and educational pre-match rituals and ended, in some cases, with fierce knockouts! The trip was a memorable and entertaining experience for the Section’s members, who got to witness and admire not only the country’s famous national sport but also a slice of Thai heritage known around the world.

Riding a Wave of Wellbeing By Orapak Suwanapakdee

I come from a family that once kept many horses on our farm. I have always loved horses and been fascinated with riding. So it may sound strange when I say that I only started horse riding properly around a year ago. This is because as a young girl I was discouraged from getting into the saddle by my parents – “too dangerous…not lady-like” etc. Thankfully, today families are much more open to young girls and boys riding. Early last year, following lasik surgery for nearsightedness and a new prescription for contact lenses (because riding with glasses is awkward), I was determined to try the sport at the RBSC Polo Club. Like most first timers, I was a little apprehensive to begin with but I fell in love with riding during my first lesson and I was determined to improve. Having studied concepts of leadership during my doctoral research, the nature of the relationship between horse and rider – the dynamics of the influence of the rider and the trust and confidence of the horse – really interested me, as did the leadership attributes that riding gave to individuals outside the riding ring. It is no coincidence that horse riders tend to be confident, ambitious, and decisive individuals but also people possessed of a caring nature… an ideal combination in a leader.

Author Orapak Suwanapakdee, here on Eaglehill Nama, has been riding for a little over a year.

“It is no coincidence that horse riders tend to be confident, ambitious, and decisive individuals” RBSC MAGAZINE

Horse riding is a mixture of physical and mental discipline. Even if you have the right focus, if you don’t practice enough you won’t develop the right techniques and muscles to control your rhythm on the horse and the animal’s movements. Equally, proper physical technique in the saddle is all well and good but a rider must also be mentally tuned in to his or her mount, understanding the horse’s likes and dislikes, its capabilities and limitations. To strike the right balance is to successfully lead a horse, melding rider and mount into a cohesive unit. An affinity for your horse is also very important. Just as you need to exercise cooperation and compromise at the office with colleagues or at home with family, the ability to empathise with your horse is critical to forming a good working relationship. The deep bond between horse and rider helps to

Weimin in competition riding Nicolas. mitigate against unforeseen circumstance, such as sudden loud noises which could ‘spook’ the horse, or those occasions when the horse might be ill and simply needs comforting. Interested to see if others feel as I do, I asked a few of the regular riding members at the RBSC Polo Club for their views on the sport. Sirapongse Kancvalskul has been learning the art of show jumping since he was 9 years old. Now 18, Weimin as he prefers to be called, has spent the past few years perfecting his riding skills at the Club. His dedicated approach to riding and the life lessons he takes from the sport – including the ability to make critical decisions, a sense of responsibility, and a caring attitude – hint at his future as a leader of his generation. “I agree that riding is as much a thinking sport as a physical one,” he says. “For instance, before jumping I have to plan my way around the course and analyse the fences, always bearing in mind the disposition of the horse I’ll be riding. This is important because as with people, each horse is different. You have to know and appreciate the temperament of every horse you ride, which is why getting on a new horse for the first time is such an exciting challenge. It is very satisfying when you reach the point where you know a new horse’s true character and he understands what you want him to do and you begin to work in unison as a pair. To lead a horse properly, you must understand his nature.”

“When I do fall off the horse, which happens once in a while, I always analyse why I fell and I never blame the horse! Riding is a bit like driving a car. Both have elements of danger but if you have trained well then you have the necessary self-control and the risks are minimized. In fact, I’ll bet driving a car is more dangerous than riding a horse and a car won’t love you back like a horse will. I love the sport,” Weimin says. “It has taught me confidence and self-discipline, not just in the riding arena but in life generally.” The popular equestrian saying goes that if you fall off a horse, the best thing to do is get straight back on. It is a sentiment that Weimin and Kanitha-Viriya T. Suwan can

has different characteristics and emotional needs. Some need to learn patience; others need their confidence building up, and so on. Just like kids, horses need to be told when they do something wrong but also need to be rewarded when they do something right. You have to form a bond with child or horse because ultimately the best way to progress is through teamwork and partnership,” she explains. “Communication is key to this partnership, not just between rider and mount but also between rider and groom. The grooms care for the horses you ride and they know a great deal about the character of each horse they look after – which one is lazy and needs encouragement, and which one is high-spirited and requires a firmer hand. Grooms help you to cement your partnership with individual horses,” Chompoo says. “Whether you aspire to take part in show jumping or dressage competitions, or simply want to be able to ride competently for the sheer enjoyment of it, the equestrian disciplines offer a fantastic way to build core body strength, hone mental agility, and develop confidence and a sense of responsibility, particularly in youngsters.”

appreciate. Kanitha-Viriya, or Chompoo, started riding at 11 years old but at 28 almost gave up the sport entirely following an incident at a club in Pattaya. Thankfully, as an experienced rider, she climbed back into the saddle and some 10 years later is often seen at the RBSC Polo Club honing her horse handling skills. An accomplished business woman with her own publishing company, Chompoo also finds time to organize “SelfDiscovery Camps” at which virtue and meditation are taught to young children, and she likens learning to ride to the teaching of her human charges. “As with instructing children in life, which is all about give and take, to become a successful rider you have to know how to give and take with a horse. In both cases you’re dealing with sentient beings, each of which

The therapeutic qualities of the sport – the cathartic nature of riding – is certainly embodied in Club rider Kantawat Pongsak. Known as Nong Point, the 24 year old was born with Cerebral Palsy but began riding when he was 17. As a young child he struggled with physical motor-skills because of a curvature of the spine and had difficulties with the use of his hands and fingers. However, his doting parents, Adisak and Orapan Pongsak, organised piano lessons for him, which improved his manual dexterity, and then (with the approval of his doctor) they suggested Nong Point take riding lessons as a way of improving his posture and boosting his confidence. “The change in Nong Point has been remarkable,” says RBSC Polo Club Riding Manager Karnaporn Romayanond. “In the 7 years he has been riding I have seen him go from being a special needs child who couldn’t sit straight on the horse to a significantly more confident young man with a good upright posture, good balance, and better control of his muscles. He is also much more in control of his movements when not riding. But the benefits aren’t only physical. Horses are nonjudgemental, they really only want to please, and Nong Point has formed relationships with our gentle horses that have helped him to gradually become more peaceful within himself and to stay focused.” Nong Point’s parents are rightly proud of their son’s progress in the riding ring. They point not only to his

As I discovered when I took up riding last year, Karnaporn and her colleagues at the RBSC Polo Club’s Riding Section are super helpful at getting beginners started. Not only will they assess you for your riding level, they will also recommend various horses and tutelage schedules, and even help with necessary equipment. Their enthusiasm for all things equestrian, plus the fervour and encouragement of the riding fraternity at the Club and the obvious wideranging benefits horse riding promotes both inside and outside of the riding ring, will make you wonder why you took so long to mount up!

Nong Point with proud parents Adisak and Orapan Pongsak physical improvements but also the greater degree of independence he has achieved since he began riding, and the enjoyment he derives when up in the saddle. Karnaporn herself remembers being put on a pony for the first time during a visit to Hua Hin when she was only 3 and falling in love immediately with horses. Although she graduated in Food Science, she opted to work in jobs involving horses and has been a Racing Manager, Stud Book Manager, and now Riding Manager. “For me, riding is a way of life,” she says. “I firmly believe that over and above the obvious physical benefits, riding teaches you to be kind and compassionate, to face up to responsibilities, to persevere and work as a team.” Her recommended age for youngsters to take up the sport is 8, although she adds, “You can start at a younger age – we accept 5-6 year olds – but it depends on their basic body strength, physical coordination and ability to concentrate. Our instructors know how to modify their teaching techniques for very young children.”

42 GOLF

Dear Golfing Members,

Following on from the end of last year, we have experienced variable weather which has impacted our golf course maintenance plans and hence the condition of the course is not as we expected it to be at this time of year. However, the Golf Committee can assure all golfing members that the maintenance teams are continuing to work hard to get the course back to its best condition. The Golf Committee would like to thank members who participated in the exciting home Interport competition against HKGC and also to those who turned out for the Krungthep Kreeta Intraport competition in January. We had a bumper team for this popular fixture. The Committee also takes this opportunity to congratulate the golfers who took part in the H.E. Pote Sarasin Trophy, Super Senior and Great Senior Competition, especially the flight winners Khun Khamrob Thirakaosal, Dr. Somphob Intaraprasong, and Mr. Ian Mclean, all of who played some great golf during the tournament. As the Club Championship, Senior Club Championship and RBSC Chairman’s Cup get underway this month, the Committee wish all participants a successful competition and may the best golfer win! Finally, the Committee would like to invite members to participate in the upcoming home Interport with SICC next month. There is a long tradition of friendship and sporting rivalry between the two clubs and we hope that continues on Saturday, 5th March 2016. Above all, we wish you good health and enjoy golfing at RBSC.

Thrilling Interport Ends in a Tie Hong Kong Golf Club visited the RBSC on Saturday, 9th January 2016 for the annual Home Interport. This one day event usually sees the highest number of visitors of any of the Interports and this year was no different. A party of 50 Hong Kong Golf Club members made the trip to Bangkok. Most of the visitors played one or two rounds before coming to the RBSC and the preparation showed in the result. In a nail biting finish which went down to the last match, the two teams tied with a score of 25 to 25. The weather was excellent and after the match the two teams went to the Winning Post for dinner, entertainment and prize giving. As is traditional in the case of a tie, the current holders keep the trophy until the next meeting so HKGC carried the trophy back to Hong Kong. The RBSC was very fortunate to have seven former golf captains taking part, highlighting the friendship between the two clubs.

LADIES GOLF CAPTAIN’S MESSAGE Dear Lady Golf Members, I trust you all had an enjoyable and restive seasonal break and are looking forward to the rigours of golf at the RBSC in 2016. My ardent hope this year is to see our numbers increase out on the course. While our regular tournaments are important, and competitive golf has its place, at its heart golf is a great social game to be involved in, and it would be fantastic to see more of the female fraternity at the Club trying the sport for the sheer enjoyment of it. This applies particularly to the younger generation. The bulk of our active members are in the main over 40 years of age, and while we have a handful of girls learning to play golf at the Club, we are keen to encourage more young women to take up the sport so we can begin to close this age gap. Irrespective of ability – and we are all amateurs – the game of golf represents a great personal challenge. Whether you are a beginner just learning the basic techniques or an experienced low handicap player, whether you are playing casual golf with friends or competing in a tournament, I believe the aim of the game is not necessarily to beat the person playing alongside you but to beat the course in front of you and the conditions you are playing in, and have fun while doing it! That is the real challenge of golf, and I hope more of our ladies rise to it in the year ahead. See you on the course! Netrnapis Tangtrongvattana Ladies’ Golf Captain

Montatip and Sasitorn Win First Titles of 2016 The RBSC’s lady golfers were out in force over Wednesday, 13th – Friday, 15th January 2016 to contest this year’s Club Championship and the RBSC Cup, two of the most coveted titles on the golfing calendar. The weather was perfect for the competitions and in the Club Championship Montatip Chandra-Chamnong made hay while the sun shone to post rounds of 73, 67, and 70 for a winning aggregate score of 210. In doing so she added the Champion Golfer silverware to the Chairman’s Cup she won in 2014. Montatip was followed by runner-up and 2014 H.M. Queen Rambhai Cup winner Jittakarn Lamsam, who carded rounds of 71, 75, and 71 for 217 total. 50 GOLF TIPS with Pro Bill

BACKSWING – SHOULDERS: DOWNSWING – HIPS

1

BACKSWING: Here you can see I have rotated my shoulders 90º while my hips have not turned very much. I have a nice gap between my knees.

A backswing is all about collecting power. You want to keep the lower body very quiet. By quiet, I mean don’t turn your hips very much. Focus on turning your shoulders as much as you can. Try to get your left shoulder over your right foot while at the same time keeping your hips facing the ball. You can collect a lot of power doing this.

The downswing at first is about keeping that power and then about expelling that power. The downswing should be initiated with the same unwinding of the hips while at the same time not letting the shoulders unwind. Doing this will help to retain the power you collected on your backswing.

Please study the photos so you get a good visual idea of what you should do.

2

DOWNSWING: As my club is approaching the ball, my hips have unwound nicely while my shoulders are still somewhat parallel with the target line.

FARE FUSION Highlight dishes on the RBSC menu this month take fusion cooking to new heights, with the flavours of the East and West combining to delight the palate. Redolent of the Mediterranean but prepared with an Asian twist is Feta cheese mousse with Thai ginger crisps. Creamy, tangy, and bursting with flavour, it is further enhanced by Granny Smith marmalade, and basil essence. The mĂŠlange of textures in the dish are as satisfying as its great taste. Equally pleasing is fish and crab meat cakes with coriander aioli. The cakes are served with fresh cucumber fennel relish and hearty potato gratin, both natural pairings with fish.

A simple but gratifyingly healthy offering is spiced roasted chicken breast with stewed Garbanzo beans, and from the sea comes grilled salmon and green tea noodles enlivened with a rich teriyaki reduction. Soft shell crabs are a local favourite, and the RBSC’s chilli kaffir lime battered soft shell crab, served with waffle potato, fresh salad and spicy tamarin dip, is sure to delight. To finish off, try one of the two great strawberry-based Dessert of the Month offerings. As a nod to the month of love, why not share a plate of the deliciously light rainbow crepe with strawberry sauce, and follow it up with a serving of strawberry and passion fruit Bavarois?

Favourites include comfort dishes such as fish maw and crab meat with shiitake mushroom in brown sauce, and hearty serving of honey-baked pork ribs. Also deeply satisfying is pan-fried salmon in oyster sauce, which pairs well with a dish of stir-fried shrimp and chicken with five grain cereal. Finish off a delightful Asian meal with a portion of delicate taro pudding with ginko.

Of course, if you have a sweet tooth and fancy something to go with afternoon tea, then you’ll love the sweet and tasty desserts on promotion this month. They include traditional zesty fruit cake, wonderfully sticky toffee cake, and tempting Bael fruit cake. And as the year heats up, you might want to cool down and quench your thirst with one of the refreshing and healthy lime sodas on the drinks menu. Combinations include strawberry and lime, watermelon and lime, and lychee and lime.

The Last Word

Natee Masathienvong A retailer of luxury watches in Thailand, including marques such as Rolex, RBSC member Natee Masathienvong describes the Club as his second home. The keen sportsman has the last word in our new monthly lifestyle column.

Q&A Who or what inspires you? Many things. Inspirations come from different things and different people at different times. It is difficult to pinpoint a single thing or single person that actually inspires me. A book can inspire me. A song can inspire me. A painting or a photograph can inspire me. Even a friend who has no significant achievement of his own can inspire me. In the age of social media, inspiring words are everywhere and I honestly do not need any more inspirations. What matters to me now is to find out what to do with these inspirations.

What do you do to switch off and relax? In running a small retail business, I have probably worked six days a week for the past 22 years. I do not have regular weekends like most people. Therefore, I try to switch off and relax for short periods during my work day. I’m fortunate in that my office is very close to the RBSC and I often come to the Club

to exercise at the gym, to swim, or – time allowing – to play a round of golf. In fact, the Club is really my second home.

Favourite holiday destinations? I am very much into photography so I love traveling (mostly alone) to foreign countries with a heavy bag full of of camera gear. My business affords me the opportunity to visit different European countries every year but the more I travel, the more I find many of these destinations to be very similar and subsequently no longer as exciting. My current favourite destination is Niseko, Japan, where I like to go skiing. My sons and I have made Niseko our official annual trip. It’s a great father-son bonding time, doing exciting sport together, even though I just broke two of my ribs during our 2016 trip last month! We will definitely be going back.

Favourite cocktail?

What is your definition of ‘luxury’? Quality with little regard to cost is luxury. Exclusivity with little regard to quality is pretension. Most people confuse exclusivity with luxury. That’s why many “luxury” brands tailor their marketing for what I call “the luxury illiterates”.

Most prized possession? A sound body and sound mind.

Where do you take visitors for a true taste of Thailand? It really depends on what they want to taste. Generally I like taking visitors to small shophouse restaurants that are popular among locals. There are too many to name them all here but they offer an authentic taste of the country through their specialized cuisines.

I’m not a big fan of cocktails. However, I love good wine, cognac, single malt whiskey, and a cool refreshing beer on a hot day.

CALLING ALL MEMBERS Been on an exciting trip? Taken up a new hobby? Earned a new qualification? We want to celebrate your achievements, so if you have something to say and would like to be featured as an interviewee in our Last Word lifestyle column, please contact us at info@punchmedia.co.th or call 091-009-4693.
