When one encompasses various layers like the context, culture, user requirement and human environment in a design process, it makes it experiential, rooted and unique to itself. I believe in a systematic approach of design thinking to solve challenges. I strongly believe in teamwork and right communication for a successful design execution.

This research focuses to understand the colour perception and process of selection as guidelines, with possible application in contemporary design. Traditional communities and cultures have evolved their own perceptions and aesthetics over a long period of time as it becomes a part of the internal character. Colour is a very important aspect of this aesthetic, as it influences the perception of all aesthetics in the particular community/culture as a way of life encompassing - the built form, textiles, objects of daily use, arts and crafts. This study is an attempt at following the colour selection and connection to the natural living environment. It will also briefly look into cultural influences on such selections.

Approach towards the studio: Explores the interface between interior architecture and its ‘context’ in hospitality design to create experiential spaces. The project has been approached with critical regionalism, which reinterprets the local architecture, interior and culture of the region, West Bengal. This luxurious resort developed at the Teesta Lake reservoir in Gajoldoba, West Bengal offers varying experiences of the different natural landscapes in different spaces. The essence of these varying landscapes is translated to spaces by spatial planning and volumetric explorations. The form and structure are inspired by the local region and built with local materials. The material palette comes from the local region. Contemporary Colonial furniture, printed tapestries and accessories are used inspired by the regional tea bungalows.

Conceptual Note: The contrasting typologies and characteristic of the Landscape in the same region is a direct source of inspiration to create experiential spaces. Varying Landscapes - considers of the dooars - foothills of the Himalayas, the dense evergreen forest and the tea gardens. Also, the natural elements like animals, birds, trees and flowers available in that particular region will be used as motifs in different ways like for the tapestries, and wood carvings, and to derive patterns and texture in creating experiences in the spaces .

Facing the rich fabric of the old city, located on the riverfront of Ahmedabad is the Cultural Centre which has a Multimedia Library along with an Amphitheater, exhibition space and a rooftop café. The cultural Centre showcases knowledge associated with art, culture, heritage and history of the state in different forms of audio and visuals. Hence, to root the project in the state, the Crafts of Gujarat are essentially looked upon as the driving factor to generate a form, design language and palette for the library. Ship making is critically studied and the technique of the craft is used in a contemporary approach. In relation to crafts, the spaces are created considering the variation of colours, texture, light penetration, and material. The contrast of traditional and modern coming together to tell a universal tale which reflects the ability of three disciplines - architecture, interior design and art- to create and communicate narratives.

I also worked on making the firm’s website from scratch. Along with documenting a few of the previous projects on camera.
During the course of my internship, I have worked on various projects- residential as well as restoration projects. Helped in selecting and creating different colour palettes, and tiling options.

For all the work done at Sukrut, combinations of colours, textures and forms bring a balance to all the interior elements of the space. Indian traditional crafts and techniques are a source of inspiration, hence giving a lot of attention which also brings in intricate details and joineries to design. Some design inspirations are taken from nature and its creations, and most of the designs are reflected through the principles of wabi-sabi.

A Chaise Lounge Furniture Design
Chaise Lounge is collapsible in nature which takes up lesser floor area when not in use and provides a comfortable area to relax or lounge in. It was designed after rigorous exploration of the Scissor mechanism and decodation of various geometries in different dimensions from the Object of Inspiration - The Hoberman’s Sphere. The process has led to interdisciplinary collaboration of conceptualization and making. The process of making a chair led to dealing with various realization with aspects like material selection, dealing with vendors, pricing, market survey and hands-on making.

The tiny penthouse is designed for a millennial couple with extremely different professions- Arjun, a young artist - a budding drummer and Olive, Ahmadabad’s best food photographer and stylist. Since both the clients were performers, a double-volume penthouse was designed such that more than 20 people can be feasted in the tight space. They have definite performance spaces as well as common recreational spaces. The kitchen is one of the prime foci as it is also a working space for the client. The apartment has a strong and varied colour palette for each space. Most of the furniture was modular and pivot furniture; efficiently designed keeping in mind to create open spaces.

Collecting data to create engaging visual narratives of Gundiyali crafts practices through in-depth interaction with the craft community. These narratives were visualized and communicated through the medium of interdisciplinary design. The focus was on interdisciplinary design and storytelling through exposure to multiple craft practices. The journey led to exploring various pedagogical methods of understanding and re-imagining the craft culture and narratives and experimented with multiple media of representation like storybooks, board games, narrative maps, and graphic novels. The elephant of thunder with 7 tusks Using the ‘Gond’ craft of Madhya Pradesh (India) the mural was painted by the craftsman depicting ‘Airavat” bathing in the waters surrounded by fishes and deers that are growing trees on their horns in evening light of the orange sun. Installed at an Architect’s residence in Ahmedabad, the clients were fond of Folklores and mythological stories. As a result of several discussions the story of Airavat, the elephant of thunder with 7 tusks was to be depicted. This Mural was made for CraftCanvas, Ahmedabad & painted by Gond Artisan Suresh. 10 | Wedding Design and Decor
I believe Wedding design and decor are an opportunity to create short-term experiential spaces. These spaces could be generative of decor based on multiple sets of installations with one conceptual note. My efforts while designing were to use materials that could be reused and would create the least waste. So, took up Nature weaving for making the backdrops, Installations & tassels and weaving as the technique for entire set of events. Projects
