Lines exists in nearly every from in the city , cities like Taipei are entities driven by various forces and pressures. This project is interested in investigating the urban forces of Taipei on multiple scales , developing an approach that negotiate the urban elements with Architect’s influence. Assuming that a city can be tested and controlled in the formation of small scale conceptual idea, the design is aiming at binding the design work at larger urban fabric. The existing structure of the Taipei Train Depot is currently separating north and south part of the city. Conceived by graphical line drawing initiative, the new cultural center proposes the creation of fluid pathway through the site for efficient circulation and urban mediation. The programmatic volumes are situated relating to the abstraction of the pathway contours. Each volume of the cultural center receives transparent pressure from existing Train Depot volume. New and old do not touch each other, but implications are made on composition and texture of the building form and façade. Volumes consist of performing center, theater, and concert hall, along with underground commercial promenade. With new landscape that responds to the shaping of the massing of the new building, volumes are spread throughout the site and allow people to circulate through industrial building remnants. Proportional qualities of the landscape suggest the major building is on the center that has the main performing center and the others supporting the main program mass. The three distinctive programmatic volumes are constructed of individual materialistic approach: concrete, steel, wood. Through the formation of each volume with different material and structural builds, the singular formal language is further advanced in sensible qualities of various purposes of the cultural center.

Line work site drawings The two drawings propose an abstract reading of the site only through the two-dimensional lines. The existing structure of the Taipei Train Depot is currently separating north and south part of the city, this fact is conceived by graphical line drawings. The project proposes the creation of fluid pathway through the site for efficient circulation and urban mediation.

The project explores the design of Low-Cost Airports, it suggests an alternate set of architectural consequences for the contemporary airport. The prototype is developed by a set of volume studies , using modular form to create sophisticated models that celebrate the both volume and void itself. As a possible futures for the architecture of the airport. The project is considered very close to groundlessness, may be redeemed in their shameless embrace of the artificial and the synthetic. It focus on the molecular because it is artificial, experimental unburdened from traditional methods, seeking new effects through a rigorous orchestration of sensory experience by pushing the envelope of material effects.

Study model The initial form of the airport is examed and developed from the combination of various sizes of bottles, each bottle has either bottom or top trimed and glued onto the other one. The wire defines the framing of the new volume.

10

Study model Each piece of paper is measured and cut by hand and then pasted onto the plastic bottles. This approach helps to create a new types of material effects of the envelope, breaking away from traditional methods.

The project is interested in the idea to develop new architecturaldesign models and form types, and to investigate new dynamic relationships between various design components and how they formulate a plausible architectural result. The assigned building program is a Institution for Architecture teaching and exhibition. This project is about creating a building form that engages its context through loose figural associations and dramatic volumetric propositions enabled by structurally expressive cantilevered spaces. The project combines characteristics associated with strong figural forms and buildings that are considered tectonically (structurally) expressive. The superimposition of two formal typologies creates interior spaces for the program that expose the strategy of collage via hybridization. Visually, the project is trying to build a form of multiple loose figural association, allowing multiple readings for the individual viewer.

The project investigates the tensioning between natural and the built environment. With the population rise of New York city, those privately owned public spaces has gathered a lot of attention. In case of Gramercy park, humans and nature are separated by the iron fencing, only those who have the key can access and enjoy. The project introduces a way that allow the scenery of the park to be visually accessible by the public, and create a new set of dramatic public spaces along the park which serves to stimulate a dialogue between the individual, the park and the city.

Relationship between inside and outside

An issue of Gramercy Park Gramercy Park is located in historical districts , one of the small fenced private park in New York city . the laying out of Gramercy Park represents one of the earliest attempts in this country at ‘City Planning’ and it remain unchanged for eighty years. Only those who lives in the Neighborhood has the access to the Park. The diagram illustrates the public and social condition around the park and the neighborhood.

27

Excavating the site The private park is defined and surround by 7 feet tall iron fencings , which block the scenery from inside. The approach is unrealistic but can ideally solve the problem and meanwhile create a new set of public space along the park.
