Guests at the event enjoyed a full tour of the new nursery, fantastic activity demonstrations from the nursery team, refreshments and a complementary goodie bag with a range of gifts and resources for families to enjoy.
Little Muffins Nursery, a private day care provider situated at 314 King Street, has served the local community’s childcare needs for 8 years at its current home, but is delighted to be moving just a short distance away to 334-336 King Street. The newly acquired site comes with nearly 2500 square feet of beautiful garden for children to enjoy and explore, which, as Susan Emery, Nursery Manager, explained, was the rationale behind the move.
“We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to care for so many children over the years in the beautiful environment we have created at 314 King Street, and the opportunities the location of the building has afforded us to fully experience and positively contribute to our local community. The lack of outdoor space at our current premises has never dampened either our
enthusiasm for outdoor learning, or our implementation of this crucial part of the curriculum, and our staff and children can often be seen on outings in the community,” she said.
“However, for some time we have considered that the addition to our outdoor curriculum of freely accessible open space would significantly enhance opportunities for teaching and learning at our Nursery. This is, therefore, something we have long hoped to add to the already wonderful experiences our children have here at Little Muffins Nursery. We are absolutely delighted to now be making this a reality.”
The new premises, which opened its doors officially on Monday 13th September 2021, has been completely refurbished and new resources installed to ensure it is a place which inspires awe and wonder for the children who attend. The new premises also boasts a dedicated baby garden and a planting area where children will be able to grow their own vegetables. Children will help to harvest and prepare these vegetables before they are used by the Nursery Chef to prepare the children’s delicious homecooked meals. This complements the Nursery’s Garden Champions programme (their own gardening activity which is supported by the Royal Horticultural Society’s School Gardening Awards training programme).
Local MP Andy Slaughter said “It was great to visit the new home for Little Muffins in Hammersmith, to be shown around and meet the welcoming staff. Hammersmith is a great place to bring up a young family and we need good childcare and nurseries. It rare to find a big open-plan space and good-sized garden and pay area right on King Street, so I am sure this will prove popular with parents and children alike.”
