4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction research, planning and evaluation stages? Throughout the production of this task I used Photoshop, in AS media I used photoshop therefore I was able to easily navigate around the software to produce a high quality film poster and magazine to market my horror trailer. Film posters and magazines relate to your marketing as they’re seen as a ‘sequel’ to the audience before the full movie is revealed. I believe I have strong skills and knowledge in photoshop, which lead me to have an easy experience with the software. In order to create our media product, trailer to enable our product had transitions, was able to add intertitles, effects on shots, upload ranges of shots, etc, needed a software which was compatible with this. We used Premier pro to construct our trailers. I consider premier pro to be very challenging as, I wasn’t able to transfer my current skills from AS media along to help me succeed in the making of the product, therefore I lacked in experience in the software. Also our timescale was very short to create our trailer therefore this didn’t leave us much time to learn how to operate Premier Pro. I believe this could be why our group found it difficult with ‘time management’ as this was a downfall when constructing our product; we often looked for support from our peers with help with visual effects and the use of 2.0 Web. However my team mates found it easier with navigation and the use with the software as a team member of mine takes ‘game development’ therefore they were able to succeed in the construction of the product more effectively. I consider Premier pro to be a good source of software for creating film trailers as it had a range of adequate features to support us in the construction In order to use premier pro, it was only compatible with Apple computers therefore our class have a numerous amount of Mac computers for our leisure and education. Mac computers are more advanced than they’re competitors such as mackintosh or dell. Mac even provide lessons on how to use you Mac computer. However the Macs provided at college had Microsoft software provided which made it easier to use these computers. Our shots were recorded on a handheld camera; Panasonic HC V-500. They were very basic with low megapixel cameras, this did hinder our product having a professional and high quality shots however they were easy to use and simply enabled us to create our own trailer. Part of our brief when creating our trailer is
that tripods were to be used at all times, this enabled us to consider the rule of thirds and composition when recording our shots. Also our shots were steady and at a good standard for the limited of resources we had. For my media platforms; film poster and magazine I was provided with a Cannon DSLR camera, I was provided with this camera because of the high volume of handheld cameras in use on that particular day. In addition this was a positive in my construction, as this enabled me to have outstanding images. My sister as it stands is a photographer and I often support her in her occupation therefore I knew how to use these cameras. In addition it was part of our audience feedback to incorporate dialogue, for this we used a voice recorder. This was called a boom mic, they allowed us to create lengthy dialogue which automatically saved onto our SD card which easily transferred onto our computer. However we did experience difficulties when using the voice recorders; I personally thought that our dialogue was muffled and too much background noise was in our recordings. This lead us to record in a more convenient location, which helped us, create good quality sound effects and dialogue. When trying to export our recordings, it wasn’t finding them on our SD card due to the limited resources we weren’t provided with another SD card. However the developing technologies, allowed my collegues and myself to do voice recordings, Which I could export via email in seconds.
As previously mentioned our recordings were all saved onto a database on a SD card. This allowed us to export our files straight onto our trailers or movie posters. We were faced with lost footage as it came to our attention we should rename each one of our shots and voice recordings. Therefore the 3D card helped us recover lost files. Youtube is very important for A2 media. Youtube allowed us to get inspiration from other horror trailers like our own, also our teacher puts up information in Youtube format for us. Our college server currently is very low, therefore they have prohibbted the use of Youtube, this meant that a lot of our work was home based. Blogger is a main site for individuals on this course; this allows us to uniquely upload our research and planning and other materials for this course. It also allows other admin rights such as my teacher to ensure my work is up to date and plagiarism isn’t being committed. Throughout the use of blogger, I have needed to upload my coursework to provide evidence. I used Microsoft word is where the majority of my coursework was written and developed in. I then used my creativity to use online publishers such as prezi and flipsnack which I have previous use of from my current studies. Web 2.0 is the current state in of the online technology. The development of Web.20 is the greater collaboration of Internet users, content providers and enterprises. Just some of the elements of Web 2.0 is the Wikipedias that allow users to collaborate and edit the content of information, it is commonly used to find out different sources of vital and common information. There is an increase in mobile computing, which allows the connection between different phone users such as Facetime; which allows you to video call in any location; with WI-FI connection. The expansion of social interactions such as facebook, twitter,
instagram and even google. The integration of multiple forms of call and multimedia/cross-media message-management functions monitored by the phone user. In addition I have used many of the web 2.0 development such as google to find out relevant information such as; help in using Premier Pro or even marketing strategies to apply to my own. The internet has now turned individuals from consumers to proconsumers, Daniel Radcliff played a vital part in marketing women in black due to his fan base on the internet.
