Exploring the unexplored is a reflection of our Chloe Summer Issue, expressing the form of real art in every page we produce and Imagine. CHLOE has taken us across the globe on a voyage to extraordinary, unique and rare destinations to add to your travels. Our incredible artists reveal their passion and inspirations of Travel with Fashion taking us on many journeys through their travels, photographs, styling, tasting, sipping and most of all exploring. Photographer Carlyle Routh and Fashion Stylist Peter Papapetrou travel to the cosmopolitan city of Miami for a Fashion Shoot, Alvaro Goveia featuring fashion swimwear in the exotic destination Mexico. We welcome and Introduce many incredible creative fashion and travel bloggers from Montreal, LA, New York, France and Australia taking us through their journeys and experiences around the world featuring all the top trends and what to wear when travelling. We then take you to the most magnificent five star Castle’s from Ireland to Cheshire England to Malta and who knew there was a castle thirty minutes north of Manhattan that sits majestically atop one of the highest points in Westchester County overlooking the Hudson River. Travel is simply pleasure and inspirational, with every breath, I always wonder where life’s journey will take me, never taking any moments for granted and by living in the now with the knowledge that things can change in a moment, I engage in life to inspire and appreciate every moment of each day and to be thankful to have people in your life that believe in your efforts and talent who stand behind you, no matter what. We often become so busy trying to build a life, that we sometimes forget how to simply just live one. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”- John Lennon editor-in-chief Sandy Galli

After Dior’s sudden death, Saint Laurent was appointed Head Designer of the House of Dior at the young age of 21. CITY MEET CHARLOTTE All of you who’ve been following me over the past 5 years know that when it comes to bags, I’m not afraid to go for color. A forest green PS11, a bright yellow Celine, or anything in the color of now: burned orange… So this deep red Loewe clutch shouldn’t come as a surprise. Though for me personally, when I knew I was going to receive this clutch, in red, I wasn’t sure if I would “love” it. I guess it just had to grow on me, which it did. And exactly this happened to this red dress, after hanging on my clothing rack for a few weeks in the office. It totally grew on me, and now I LOVE it! Imagine if this dress and the clutch had been black… Not a bad color either, but isn’t this a hundred times cooler?

THE WORLD likes an underdog who works hard to

ACHIEVE their dreams, and

JAZMYN SIMON IS ALL OF THESE THINGS AND MORE. She has been relocated across the country more times than she can

and she has been turned down for auditions over 200 times. She has slept in her car, changed in her car, and ate in her car between workouts, casting calls and acting classes. Jazmyn Simon has heard “no” a couple hundred times, and has finally received her big “yes,” for an upcoming starring role in Ballers, a highly anticipated HBO television series.

photography by Riker Brothers hair by Terry Hunt make up artist Cathy Highland interview by CHLOE Magazine

The beautiful and ambitious JAZMYN SIMON is anticipating her first major roll in a television series and cable network debut on the newest HBO series- BALLERS. Her character, Julie Green opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Omar Benson Miller and John David Washington, is written as the shows only female lead. The highly awaited collaboration by producers Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson.

Who am I... I think I am still trying to figure that out. Every day I find out new things about myself. Mostly things I love, occasionally some things that I don’t. What I want you to know about me… what I feel comfortable sharing today is that I am a fighter, someone who defied the odds, someone who wont take no for an answer. The daughter of the King. What do I do... I travel, I eat, I love, I laugh, I cry, I counsel my friends (honestly, I give good advice). For a profession I am blessed in that I am able to act. I love it, with a passion. What did I want to do... when I was a little girl I swore I was going to be a lawyer because I love to debate and argue a point. In high school all I wanted to do was be on ‘Real World’ HA! What do I love most... I love my independence the most. It is scary, frightening actually to support yourself, to be an actual adult, to stand on your own and say “Win or Lose, its falling on your shoulders” But I love it. I know a lot of people, a lot of women sadly, that lack independence- that makes me sad. By the Grace of God, I maintain my independence. Horray! What do I detest... Racism. Period point blank. Racism and germs. I am a germaphobe. What can I teach... that no matter your circumstances in life, no matter your beginnings, you have the power to change your life! You can have the ending YOU want.

My hidden talent... I can cook. Yes, I can. I love to. Probably bc I love to eat. Yes I do. Maybe one day Ill do a cooking special. LOL My Achilles’ heel... expensive shoes! I just went off the rails on a pair of Balenciaga boots. Love them. Worst part is I purchased them while I was in London and paid for them in pounds… Which is much more when converted to dollars. Ooopsie. What’s on my ipod... a lot of Beyoncé. And Jay Z. I loved them both before they were a unit. What’s in my closet... JEANS! I love jeans! AG, Goldsign, Rag N Bone, Rich and Skinny, Frame. My favorites at the moment. What’s in my refrigerator... left over Indian Food! Which I will be eating for dinner tonight. I always keep fresh organic fruit as well. Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and watermelon. What’s in my future... a hit show to start! A few Emmy awards, Golden Globes, Oscar, yeah, Ill just throw that out there. Movies during my hiatuses, and Happiness, Lots of happiness. A great moment... I was in Miami shooting- I was driving down the freeway headed to set- the sun was shining, birds chirping- and I realized I was doing exactly what I had been working so hard for, what I prayed for and sacrificed for. I took a moment to cry and thank God for all my blessings. It was by far one of the best moments. Being able to appreciate the fact that you got what you wanted, and it was just as grand as I imagined.

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time”

The Rock says, “What we’ve been cooking” June 21st baby!!

My biggest mistake... I don’t really believe in mistakes. I think everything is a lesson, so I try not to look at decisions I have made as mistakes bc they have all lead me to who and where I am today. However, one time I wore converse to Magic Mountain (Great America) and I totally regretted it!!! A ‘fave’ quote... “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time”- Maya Angelou What is some advice that you would give to someone aspiring to become an actor... If you’re serious about it you will eventually need to move to LA. Study hard- learn the craft, its much more to acting then people think. And never let anyone tell you you cant do it. You can! Believe in yourself. Tell us about the new HBO Series Ballers…and your Character in this series... Set in Miami, Ballers is a half-hour dramedy centered on a group of current and former professional football players, as well as their families, friends, and handlers. The series goes beyond the game and explores not only the challenges that current players face, but also takes a behind-thescenes, real look into their lives both on and off the field. My character is Julie Greane, I am a sassy ambitious wife of a retired football player who happens to be a doctor. You get to Julie and her husband navigate life tighter post football. You’re going to love her! I can not WAIT for you to see what we have been working on! Or as The Rock says, “What we’ve been cooking” June 21st baby!!

I can’t believe I’ve never shared this outfit on the blog. This was one of my favorite outfits from Paris Fashion Week and I was in full Chloe (except for the amazing rainbow colored Oscar Tiye wing heels) to attend the Chloe Fall 2015 show. Chloe was always such an aspirational brand for me. I’ve always admired the Chloe aesthetic for as long as I could remember but I became absolutely in love with the brand around 2005, when I saw the striking campaign images of Julia Stegner and Anja Rubik shot by one of my ultimate favorite photographers Inez and Vinoodh. I ripped those images right out of a magazine and Chloe Guipure Lace & Silk Crepon Top Chloe Folkloric Patched Lace Skirt Oscar Tiye Malikah High Heel Sandals (also in all black) Chloe Python Handbag Chloe Dafne Sunglasses Song of Style Jewelry Marble Pyramid Bracelets

had them taped on my bedroom wall. It’s been 10 years since then and I would’ve never imagined to be dressed in all Chloe and attend their fashion show sitting front row and watching my childhood favorite models walk down the runway. If you told me this 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago, I would’ve probably said ‘yeah, right.’ This was my second Chloe show that I attended and it surely did not disappoint. I’m so excited for the upcoming seasons and I’m sure you all can agree that Chloe has created so many iconic bags, the Drew bag being one of them, so I’m excited to see what’s next for them!

This is my favorite time of the year, especially because of the beautiful flowers that bloom. After my travels to other colder cities, I feel so fortunate to live in a city where the weather is warm all year around. I love lace up sandals for summer and the return of gladiator sandals. These are from one of my favorite sandal brand called Cornetti. I’m also in love with the Chloe ones I wore during Coachella (Neiman Marcus still has a few, and they’re almost sold out on Net-a-Porter.) I also love the shorter versions from Cornetti which are available at Nordstrom and Revolve Clothing.

Everything I’ve been attracted to lately has been something retro, like pieces that could’ve easily come from the 70’s. From oversized retro sunglasses to roman sandals aka gladiator sandals (I mean the ones from Chloe are TDF) to suede pieces… I just can’t get enough of them and the best way to complement the 70’s style and making it modern is by keeping your accessories quite minimal. The old me would’ve stacked multiple bracelets and might have even wore a pair of giant hooped earrings to go for the full 70’s look but now I like keeping things clean.

HOTELS AND RESORTS ON THE ISLAND

I can say with complete certainty

THAT I CAN RECOMMEND WHERE TO STAY IN ST. BARTHS IF ONLY THE BEST WILL DO. I VISITED THE HIGHLY RENOWNED ISLAND AS A GUEST OF ULTIMATE JET VACATIONS TO HIGHLIGHT THE CREME DE LA CREME OF LUXURY ACCOMODATIONS. SO YOU’RE WONDERING WHERE TO STAY IN ST. BARTHS? HERE’S MY TOP 3 HOTELS AND WHY YOU WILL LOVE THEM.

Brooke Saward Brooke Saward travels the world full time, living out of a suitcase and temporarily calling hotel beds her home. Originally from Australia, Brooke is an advocate of the ‘work while you travel’ lifestyle and has been on the road solo for the past year (with no intent of stopping soon).

image: Le Toiny St Barthelemy

Situated on the island of St Barthelemy,Le Toiny St Barthelemy is a honeymooner’s paradise. It is without doubt this hotel has set itself apart from other properties on the island for offering guests a much more private and intimate affair. If you’re coming to St Barths for your honeymoon or to escape the crowds and enjoy the equilibrium between a luxury hotel and luxury villa, Le Toiny is the place for you.

Le Toiny St Barthelemy Review With so much choice by way of luxury accommodations on the tropical paradise island that is St Barthelemy, it takes something extra special to stand out as a cut above the rest. But for Le Toiny, this has been achieved with ease. The private luxury pool villas at Le Toiny offer something you won’t find elsewhere on the island – a unique blend between being a hotel on the one hand, with the privacy and exclusivity of a private pool villa on the other. Indeed, this is the premier location for honeymooners in St Barthelemy. The Le Toiny experience I checked in to the hotel on a Sunday afternoon when the Le Toiny brunch (renowned on the island) was in full swing. While I waited for my room to be ready for check-in, I decided to indulge in the brunch festivities – a smorger’s board of choice including fresh seafood, salads, warm hearty dishes and an elaborate display of sweet treats. If you don’t intend on staying at Le Toiny, you should at least visit the restaurant for Sunday Brunch – which has quickly become an institution on the island. Throughout my stay I also made time to visit the hotel Spa to enjoy one of the latest additions to the menu – the 60 minute blossom treatment. This treatment was a harmonious blend of breathing techniques, a soft massage, and the use of blossom to ensure a tranquil experience – true bliss! My visit to Le Toiny also wouldn’t have been complete without dining at the Le Gaic, the hotel restaurant that has earned a name for itself as one of the island’s premier dining destinations. The meal itself was impeccable and I can certainly see why travellers come from around the globe to try some of these signature French dishes! But it was the hazelnut brownie dessert with coconut ice cream that truly stole my heart – be sure not to miss it! The Private Pool Villa For most guests at Le Toiny, it’s hard to ever want to leave the room! The 15 private pool villas at Le Toiny offer so much more than a hotel, which makes them stand out from other resorts on the island. The room itself was incredibly generously sized, resembling more of a private home than a luxury hotel suite. But even more impressive was the complete privacy offered inside each villa. From my outdoor area I felt a world away from reality, let alone any other guests at the property. As a guest at Le Toiny, you can also enjoy a range of extras that are included with your room – highlights include a complimentary breakfast enjoyed on your private terrace, all inclusive movies, music and premium tv channels, wi-fi, and round-trip transfers to and from the hotel. This is the premier choice in St Barthelemy for honeymooners and travellers preferring to experience a private oasis. Each of the 15 luxury five-star villas has a private pool to enjoy at leisure and with so many added extras (compliments of the hotel), there really isn’t a better option for an intimate stay in St Barthelemy. Private Pool Villas from $1200 per night during the summer season.

Hotel Christopher Best For: Best pool, contemporary design, best spa views The Christopher is a great choice for travellers who enjoy a modern and contemporary design with simple but refined furnishings. Here you will find arguably the best hotel pool on the island, as well as a renowned spa that locals say is their favourite!

Hotel Le Toiny

St Barth’s Incredible Culinary Experience! Hotel Le Toiny St Barth’s Restaurant Le Gaiac is helmed by Chef Jean-Christophe Gille, who is a passionate and inspired culinary artist reknown for his masterful blend of innovative French cuisine with local flavors. Restaurant Le Gaïac St Barth is pleased to offer the option of wine pairings in which our Sommelier will match wines to every course to further enhance your dining experience. We offer an extensive wine list by the bottle or the glass. Our Sommelier will be happy to assist in your selection process by presenting options from our wine list featuring over 300 fine wines from around the world.

Château de Pampelonne

produces an excellent red wine and a modest amount of white wine, but it is the Côtes de Provence Rosé for which the estate is best known. In addition to the classic rosé cépages of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, Pampelonne also uses Tibouren in the blend.

Pouilly fumé La Doucette

House Régnard, one of the oldest and most prestigious houses of Burgundy, characterized by the diversity and quality of its wines, has in the vineyards of Pouilly Fuissé an ancient history ended, Clos du Pavillon.

Whispering Angel

An irresistible pink! Charming, refreshing, refined, and with plenty of juicy, enticing, strawberry and berry fruit. This is a rosé that should be in everyone’s cellars.

Le Sereno St Barthelemy Review This contemporary oasis offers something a little different for guests to St Barthelemy – it’s the ideal base for the active traveller who wishes to enjoy activities such as stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, or even kite surfing. If simple living in a contemporary hotel sounds like your ideal holiday in St Barths, this is the hotel of choice for you.

The Le Sereno Experience The Le Sereno philosophy is simple – provide guests with a humble home base to explore St Barthelemy from. The hotel is masterfully understated, with clean lines and simplicity at the core of design. Guests are thus treated to an experience, rather than a luxury property for the sake of luxury. Here you can enjoy a plethora of watersports activities in the lagoon, a lush pool overlooking the ocean, and a terrific spa that was quite simply one of the best I encountered during my visit to St Barthelemy. The rooms and suites are simple yet refined, and offer all the basics without any unnecessary extras. Rooms therefore don’t feel crowded or overdone and the space can be enjoyed at leisure. Inside my room I was delighted by a few in-room highlights, including complimentary mini-bar, hotel branded havianas flip flops, luxurious bath products, and even a small selection of books to enjoy during my stay. The sea views overlook the lagoon area providing just as much entertainment on the shore as if you were in the ocean yourself. Should you wish to enjoy some of the watersports activities on offer, you will be delighted to learn these are all inclusive and offered to guests at no extra charge. Breakfast is served daily either in your suite or at the hotel restaurant – including both hot and cold dishes at no extra charge. If you do make time for the spa at Le Sereno, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. During my stay I tried the coconut massage – a unique blend of coconut oil and dried coconut, which left me feeling completely refreshed and revitalized – one of the best spa experiences I have had the world over! Book this hotel if… If you’re someone who enjoys to keep active whilst on holiday, then look no further than Le Sereno. It’s the perfect hotel for guests who wish to escape reality and unwind in a modern, contemporary setting. However if you’re looking for the personal touches and dedicated service, I would say there are better alternatives on the island in this price bracket. Rooms & Suites start at $770. World of Wanderlust was welcomed to all three hotels featured in CHLOE Magazine as a guest of the hotel and Ultimate Jet Vacations, however my opinion is as always, my own. worldofwanderlust.com

Ashford Castle in

will welcome guests back through its doors in March 2015 following a complete restoration programme that has sensitively and beautifully restored this historic building, firmly re-establishing it as the most luxurious hotel in Ireland.

IRELAND

The outdoor areas have also been given the tender loving care required with enhancements and expansions. The falconry school, which was Ireland’s first, has been fortified, as has the equestrian centre. The walled and herb gardens have been tidied, and for more active types, the two tennis courts are now all-weather surfaces with an on-site tennis coach who can assist guests looking to perfect their technique.

W

ith a plethora of new additions and amenities, the renovation programme will ensure that the castle, and the 350 acres in which it stands, will provide five star facilities and levels of luxury synonymous with the award-winning Red Carnation Hotel collection of which it is now part. Once owned by Lord and Lady Ardilaun of the Guinness family, the castle has welcomed royalty, celebrities and heads of state across its illustrious history including George V (then Prince of Wales), Ronald Reagan, Brad Pitt, John Wayne, Fred Astaire, Barbra Streisand, John Travolta and many more. Now, every inch of the glorious castle estate, parts of which date back to 1228, has been carefully examined, restored and enhanced to enable the hotel to cater for all generations, holiday requirements and business needs. The dynamic design team was headed by Mrs Beatrice Tollman, Founder and President of Red Carnation Hotels, with the support of her daughter Toni Tollman, the Red Carnation project team and architect Philippe Bonino. The renovation will ensure family members are well catered for under one historic roof with the addition of a 32-seat cinema, children’s games room and even a Lego Room Service menu to keep younger family members entertained. Adults will appreciate the creation of a splendid billiard room, two outdoor roof terraces (one of which will serve fine Cuban cigars) and an array of enhanced public areas, all of which provide the perfect environment in which to kick back and relax in comfort and style. Couples in search of a romantic hideaway will find exactly that at Ashford Castle where the ancient underground wine stores will be transformed into private dining cellars and the old boat house on the shores of Lake Corrib is set to become a private and secluded honeymoon suite. The final piece of the intricate renovation is the addition of a beautiful spa and indoor ozone-filtrated swimming pool which, subject to the appropriate planning approvals, will open by August 2015 and will reinforce Ashford as the most luxurious destination hotel in Ireland. Guests will be able to work up a sweat in the brand new Techno Gym where a range of cardio and resistance equipment will be on offer.

YEARS HAVE GONE BY SINCE

RELAIS LA

Suvera’s

first opening in 1990. Until then it was the private country residence of the owners, the Marquis Ricci, which had employed years in restoring the Papal Villa and the buildings and gardens surrounding it, with an infinite respect for the traces of history and a love for beauty which everyone instinctively feels arriving at La Suvera and which makes it until today a truly inimitable place. The character and intimacy of the house have remained unspoiled through all these years, combining ancient splendor with modern comforts and an attentive staff providing impeccable service. The Ricci family, together with the staff of Relais La Suvera, is proud to celebrate this Silver Anniversary, feeling to have accomplished the dream to turn history and culture in something to live in and to share with everyone and hoping to have succeeded in the effort to always improve during 25 years! The origins of La Suvera date back to the Middle Ages, when the building was a castle owned by the Lordship of Siena, part of the Feud of the legendary Countess Ava Matilde dé Franzosi, a relative of the King of France Clovis. It is likely therefore that the ancient name La Suvera derives precisely from the French word “ Souveraine”. In the sixteenth century, La Suvera was donated to Pope Julius II by the lordship of Siena, in hope to gain his favours.

This Renaissance Pope, a skilled politician and warrior, was also known as a patron of artists, such as Raphael, Michelangelo and Bramante, who, among other things, were commissioned for the construction of the Vatican Halls, the Sixtine Chapel and the project for the new basilica of St. Peter. Julius II also played an important role in La Suvera’s history and design by entrusting to the brilliant architect Baldassarre Peruzzi the transformation of the severe medieval castle into a Renaissance Villa. From Julius II La Suvera went to his descendants and then, through marriages, inheritances and acquisitions, to the current owners, the family of the Marquis Ricci. The Marquis Giuseppe Ricci Paracciani and his wife, Princess Eleonora Massimo, have made of their home a stunning country relais, where guests can expect an authentic cultural experience. The history of this Renaissance villa has been blended with the owner’s family illustrious ancestors, who’s furnishings adorn the museum at the first floor of the Papal Villa and the historic rooms and suites. Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence and 7 Centuries of History!

Relais La Suvera is a 5 star hotel located in the Tuscan countryside, at 30 km from Siena. It is a hamlet dating back to the Renaissance composed by the Papal Villa, the Farmhouse, the Ancient Stables the Church and the Olive Mill.

ELEGANCE AND LUXURY

CASTLE HOTEL & SPA

L

ong before the Castle Hotel & Spa gained its sterling reputation as a world-class destination for relaxing and romantic getaways with superb cuisine, it held a prominent place in Westchester County and New York City society at the turn of the century. Situated on sprawling hilltop acres overlooking the Hudson River, the main tower of Castle Hotel & Spa forms the highest point in Westchester County. Castle Hotel & Spa is a medieval-style structure that was meticulously transformed into a luxury hotel, offering guests royal-quality service, luxurious guestrooms, and the award-winning Equus restaurant which features Auberge-style, natural French-inspired cuisine. Great attention to detail is evident in 3,300 square feet of meeting and event rooms each of which has a strong history in the Castle. The 1,500 square-foot Great Hall is perhaps the most spectacular meeting and event space, featuring 40-foot vaulted ceilings and original Gothic windows with heraldic motifs. The time-honored Library features rich Mahogany bookcases and a dramatic panel ceiling in Neo-Classical style contribute to the room’s old-world beauty and charm. In early 2013, the Castle Hotel & Spa underwent a thorough renovation and refurbishment adding a renewed aura of bygone elegance and refinement to historic property. The renovation also included the introduction of the luxurious THANN Sanctuary Spa, known throughout Asia as an oasis of peace and tranquility. Only 25 miles north of Manhattan, Castle Hotel & Spa opened as a luxury hotel in 1997; 16 years after being designated a historic landmark. www.castlehotelandspa.com

Who am I I am Charlie Gray and I live and work in London, England. What do I do I am lucky enough to take famous peoples’ portraits for a living. What did I want to do I had no idea what I wanted to do until I got to University where as fortune had it photography found me. What do I love most It’s the real things in life that are most important, my partner, my son, my pets & hanging out with old friends back home…it keeps you real, I hear about photographers who think they are rock stars, I never want to be that guy!

What do I detest I detest cruelty but personally detest failure. What can I teach I have no ambition to teach, but I do feel I can set an example of how to be calm under immense pressure, and hopefully how to be a good person at the same time… the rest is in the eye! My hidden talent Soccer management… My Achilles’ heel Peanut M&M’s and free bags of them ;-) What’s on my iPod I spent 8 years working in a record store so my taste in music is quite eclectic. I have a lot of rock, Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, Kasabian, on my iPod but also love soul classics by artists such as Earth Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield.

What’s in my future I have four shoots I did for American Vanity Fair waiting to be published. I am really excited about them coming out as a lot of planning & post production went into each of the shoots. I am also hoping to find the right agent to work with, I have had a lot of offers of late but there aren’t many who can drive your work to the next level. A great moment A great moment in my career was being invited onto the film set Harry Brown to photograph Sir Michael Caine in 2009; this alongside my equally important work with BAFTA at the same time was a game changer.

My biggest mistake I am not sure I believe in mistakes, I totally fucked up my education and ended up at Anglia University on a Graphic design degree and there I met Stuart Smith (www.smith-design.com) a part time lecturer & now prominent book designer who was teaching a documentary photography course, I hadn’t ever picked up a camera before…so I think everything happens for a reason! A ‘fave’ quote it ain’t about how hard you’re hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. Rocky Balboa What has been your biggest achievement in your field of Photography I don’t think I am where I want to be yet, I am certainly not going to start patting myself on the back otherwise I’ll never get there! What do you prefer stability or spontaneity Nothing beats that feeling of an amazing job coming in out of the blue. However once it’s done your instantly hungry for more & can feel a little empty until the next assignment. How would you describe your style of photography I’m a portrait photographer and a good portrait relies on knowing the subject psychologically & creating a mood with lighting that will bring the best out of your subject. What has been your most exciting project as an artist I was lucky enough to go on tour with rock band Kasabian in the USA for The Sunday Times Magazine. I am a huge fan and to be on the road, backstage, in the dressing rooms and witness the emotional rollercoaster of a tour was really exciting & I like to think I came away with an iconic set of photographs of a band that I still enjoy listening to. www.charlie-gray.com

DESTINATION INIALA BEACH HOUSE

AN ARCHITECTUAL MASTERPIECE

INIALA

is a place where no indulgence is out of reach, itineraries are tailored to fit your desires and exclusivity is key. Chris and Danika Garlotta www.nodestinations.com

No Destinations is a website created by us (Chris & Danika) that documents our life traveling around the world and being digital nomads.

I

t’s the stuff of dreams… travel to a secluded beach in Thailand, build a few beach front villas and decorate it with the most creative art and furniture you can find from around the world. Then hire the best chefs and sommeliers you can find to prepare your meals. And of course, don’t worry about the cost -- as you’re creating an environment that is awe-inspiring, exclusive, and incredibly special. And then when it’s done, just sit and relax as the sun sets on the beach in front of you. Welcome to Iniala. Staying at the ultra-exclusive Iniala is like having your very own secluded beach front villa… only you don’t have to fret when the USD $200,000 bed you’re sleeping on gets a scratch on it. It’s a place that is completely over the top, totally innovative, and yet still manages to feel completely laid back. This type of indulgence is rare. It’s meant for business tycoons, heirs to great fortunes and yet, somehow we managed to fit in pretty well. That’s what I love about Iniala. Despite the high costs, Iniala is relaxed and completely void of snobbery, and I missed this place the moment we left.

YOUR OWN PRIVATE

BEACH FRONT

VILLA

At Iniala, guests don’t just get a “room” for the night - they have private villas. Ours was the “Collectors Villa”, which in the most simplest of terms, is a 3 bedroom villa. Our villa came with a separate glass enclosed dining room, a living room and our own spa, all located directly on the beach. Oh and if we wanted to to watch a movie with 21 of our closest friends, we could in our own private cinema! But the beach front views weren’t the only thing that stood out to us — the architecture of the villa, and the art that filled it, were equally — if not more — impressive. From walls covered in custom ceramics to an Edra “octopus” couch in the living room, this villa will get any art/architecture aficionado giddy. Nervous at first, I began to acquaint myself with our new surroundings. I was a bit afraid to touch, to sit and to relax — but that only lasted until I was served my first glass of wine and freshly made macaroons. The room we settled in was designed by Jamie Hayon from Spain, complete with an oversized bathroom, Jo Malone amenities and of course a bright and sunny porch leading straight to the beach. At Iniala, I was around the things I love; my husband, the beach, and amazing art and architecture. The only thing missing was our dog Karloff. Although I think if I would have asked, the staff at Iniala would have found a way to bring him to us from San Diego. And that’s what Iniala is all about; over the top service, an anything goes attitude —

and somehow they’ve found a way to keep the demeanor total barefoot luxury. A Typical Day at Iniala is Anything but Typical Hungry? Just ask for anything you are in the mood for, and the chef will prepare it. Thirsty? The sommelier will be happy to recommend a wine from their vast collection or create a cocktail of your choosing. Fancy a spa treatment, just tell your villa manager what time works best for you. Basically, at Iniala, what ever your in the mood to do, is easily within reach. We’d start our days simply; a little coffee on our beachfront patio, followed by a short dip in the ocean, and perhaps even a little kayaking. Then breakfast, where we’d have fresh baked breads (prepared at Iniala’s private bakery), freshly made juices, and an extensive menu selected that day by the chef. After breakfast we’d head over to the pool, or onto the beach and enjoy the incredibly calm, and ohso-warm ocean water. Towards the early afternoon, we’d have lunch served in the beautiful glass enclosed dining room overlooking the beach. Like breakfast, the menu was tailored to our own personal preferences by the chef, and would consist an assortment of meats, fish, vegetables — and of course desserts. Needless to say, the meals at Iniala were all freshly prepared, healthy, and incredibly delicious.

We love good food, good cocktails and even better views!

Basque-Inspired Cuisine at Aziamendi If you’re going to go through the time and effort to create something as extraordinary as Iniala than you might as well kick it up another notch and create a gourmet restaurant (or should I say experience) to match. The restaurant at Iniala, Aziamendi, is the brain child of Three Michelin Star Chef, Eneko Atxa, from Spain and his Chef de Cuisine, Alex Burger. Together they serve a highly creative degustation menu with superb wine pairings. And whether you’re a guest at Iniala, or are staying elsewhere in Phuket, Aziamendi is open to anyone who appreciates creative foods in an equally creative environment. But a night dining at Aziamendi is not just about eating, there is also a whole experience that accompanies it. You’ll start your night in the art gallery with a cocktail (or two) amongst a fabulous collection of art. You can even play pool on a Swarovski pool table if you want, as you

snack on gourmet pintxos. Once you’ve finished your drinks, you are lead down a path towards the restaurant where there are a few surprises waiting for you to wet your appetite for dinner… That night we were given some fresh hibiscus juice before being lead to the garden where we sampled a cherry tomato from a blooming bonsai tree, complete with edible bark. Upon entering Aziamendi, we immediately noticed the beautiful art from around the world, the unique architecture, and the dark and sexy vibe of the restaurant. Dinner starts as we were greeted by head sommelier Fabien Etienne, who explained the wines we would be sipping on. That night we tried their 7 course tasting menu; which featured truffle eggs, foie gras ash, oxtail ravioli, duck a l’’orange and so many other clever dishes. If you had to categorize the cuisine being served, it would be Basque inspired, with a little bit of local influence.

We had a chance to chat with everyone from the baker to the chef, to the Sommelier to the GM and the attitude is the same; they know good food and they are all extremely passionate about what they are creating. We’ve found that for a restaurant to be extraordinary it must have 3 things - ambiance, good service and incredible food — and Aziamendi delivered on all three. Here, you’re not just dining at a restaurant, you’re having an experience. An orgasmic one at that. So, Would We Go To Iniala Again? Easily, yes. A hundred times, yes! From the amazing service and food, to the fantastic accommodations and location, Iniala does not disappoint. What I love most about Iniala is that they have managed to effortlessly combine an exclusive luxury experience with a very laid back and easy going atmosphere. It’s extremely exclusive — but without being pretentious, and it’s exactly the type of place that we love. The only negative about our entire experience at Iniala, was getting into the car and leaving.

It has a back alley way entrance, reminding you of something you might find in Brooklyn New York, the trendiness of downtown Toronto’s Queen West, with the charm of a rustic European wine bar. This underground wine cave venue is an incredible and inviting space, one which you find anywhere else in Toronto – if not the world. When you step inside, there is a feeling of wine country love balanced with an exciting city spirit. The energy is very special and it’s uniqueness is undeniable, plus, there is always lots of wine!

ROOT 1 CARMENERE

CARPINETO DOGAJOLO ROSSO Smooth yet bold, the Italian reds rarely disappoint. This bottle of Italian red is simply enchanting. It is a “SuperTuscan” wine, meaning it is a blend of Sangiovese (70%), Cabernet and other red grapes (30%). This elegant wine is soft, full and sure to be exactly what you’re craving. The perfect wine to enjoy with family and friends, or with someone special for a memorable night.

A Chilean masterpiece, this wine over delivers and tastes simply wonderful. Made with the Carmenere grape, this lovable wine is named after its crimson colour. This smoky and savoury red grape was originally a French varietal, but has since become Chile’s flagship red . Smooth, original and memorable, this French grape found its true calling in Chile’s Colochagua Valley. Read about its rootstock story on the label and revel in the soft tannins.

HUNGARIA GRANDE CUVEE BRUT

ALAMOS MALBEC Quality crafted from handpicked grapes grown at the foothills of the Andes mountain range (some of the highest mountains in the world) in high altitude vineyards, this round and beautiful wine is unique, lovable and lusciously fresh. This is a must try wine from Argentina’s Uco Valley, which is widely considered one of the top wine regions in Mendoza. The high altitude of the vineyards makes for a wine with complexity, definition, structure, and freshness.

This is the perfect wine to sip and enjoy on a summer day. Hungaria Grand Cuvée Brut is a crisp and delicious sparkling wine made in Hungary. I would consider this wine one of the top sparkling wines in the world based on value and taste. Made in the traditional champagne method, this wine exceeds expectations and is a great discovery bottle. Sip on it’s own or create your own cocktail for a splash of fun.

CHANEL

SAINT-TROPEZ EPHEMERAL BOUTIQUE

This summer, CHANEL takes up residence at the private mansion La Mistralée in Saint-Tropez and sets up its ephemeral boutique. Each year between these walls the House creates different décor settings, a showcase for its Ready-to-Wear, accessories, watches and fine jewellery collections, but it is also dedicated to fragrances, skincare and beauty. Like a spider’s web guiding the visitor, the parquet floor is painted throughout in burgundy red in reference to the iconic CHANEL handbag interiors. The path ends at the verrière, a glass-roofed room bathed in light and with a rotunda ceiling that displays a huge camellia, 2.5 metres in diameter with white and golden petals. The vestibule in navy blue presents silhouettes from the Spring-Summer 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection. The salon in shades of powder pink displays the accessories and shoes. Finally, right in the heart of the verrière, one discovers a selection of watches from the Première, J12 and Mademoiselle Privé collections arranged on a central display along with other Ready-to-Wear pieces. The private mansion La Mistralée features a luxuriant garden and a pool with a giant floating camellia. Arranged here and there, lacquered raw-wood tables and stools in burgundy, celadon, mint and mustard yellow offer an open invitation to relax.

The nearby pool house is dedicated to beauty, fragrances and to beachwear. The niches gather together the emblematic CHANEL perfumes, beauty accessories - all sorts of make up brushes - nail polishes, eye shadows and blushers, and other palettes composing a colorama bursting with sunshine. CHANEL ephemeral boutique will remain open until October 2015. CHANEL EPHEMERAL BOUTIQUE 1, avenue du Général Leclerc 83990 Saint-Tropez France +33 4 94 49 07 47
