Bosslady Jaye

What can be said about Houston female rapper, Bosslady Jaye that her diligent grind and work ethic do not already prove? Her originality and professionalism set her apart from most. Delivering amazing talent and real lyrics that promote feminism, Bosslady hopes to reach (or speak to) the independent women (or “boss ladies”) from all walks of life. A working mother herself, Bosslady Jaye is a superwoman’s inspiration who embodies strength, class, determination, and sensuality. With the humility to relate to anyone working towards a goal, she is the ultimate package. The beauty began writing at the young age of 10. Notebooks filled with the Lady’s poetry and thoughts throughout her teenager years turned into binders that were over capacitated with lyrical content. She realized rapping was nothing more than poetry over beats, and found her love in hip hop music. Bosslady Jaye is signed with Triple H Ent. and Independent Label in Houston, Tx. as 1st Lady. She is the hottest female out of the the state of Texas. She is in her own lane. with enough diversity to change everything.

www.unsignedmag.com

Fresh out of high school in 2005, Bosslady began rapping seriously. Too much of a beast to be conquered by fear, she quickly got rid of any stage fright or doubt. Though a novice in the music industry at the time, she was never afraid to show up and show out for the audience. No one would believe in her if she didn’t, she has stated, so she has never been discouraged by those unwilling to support her dreams. And in 2010 dreams started to become a reality when she performed for the 97.9 “LOS MAGNIFICOS” Car Show. In 2011 she released the mixtape, “2 Real 2 Be A Barbie” it is available for download & its certified LIVENESS should hold you over as she works on her next solo project. The mixtape includes the anthems “Yep Yep” featuring Mr. Wired Up, (prod. by the Beatbakerz) & “B**** I’m from Houston” featuring Chocolate Tye (prod. by Ricki Bobbi of the Androids) Also debuting (or dropping) a DVD soon, this is merely the beginning for Bosslady Jaye and it would be in your best interest to stay tuned!

Boss Lady Jaye “Tell You Why She A Boss”

Chocolate:Boss lady Jaye a southern female rapper how is the experience? Jaye: The experience is amazing I love the grind the feedback the support the fans, and I’m just getting started, I believe I am making my own foot prints in this game. Chocolate: Do you remember that first poem you wrote at 10? Jaye: Honestly, I dont remember the 1st one...I do remember the 1st one I actually memorized it was a love poem I was about 13-14 ,I just knew I was in love with this little boy... Chocolate:: Your performance for the Car Show did the audience vibe to your lyrics? Jaye: Yes, It was amazing it was my first kind of big show with alot of people there, it was like when I stepped on the stage the females were clapping and looking like okay here’s a female coming to do her thing...soon as my song came on they started vibing to my music and rocking with me..by the time the second hook came on they were repeating it. It was pretty cool. Chocolate: Your mixtape 2 REAL 2 BE A BARBIE, How is the success? Jaye: Well by it being my first official mixtape the anticipation for it was great I promoted it about 6 months before actually

releasing a date for it..so for my first mixtape I must say it was a success., it let people kinna get to know me..know my style in a sense.

Chocolate: Being a Female Mc do you sometimes soften your lyrics? Jaye: Well I wouldnt say I soften my lyrics...being a female mc in 2013 I feel like alot of female rappers use sex to sell..so sometimes I choose if I wanna talk in a sexual way...but far as soften my lyrics no this is a male dominated game I have to come hard...if not 10 times harder.

interview by:CeoChocolate

Chocolate: Which track on Mixtape signify you? Jaye: I would have to say SUCH A HEAD TURNER and YEP YEP. they both talk about ladies hadling their buisness and being on there “shit” in a sense, I promote that. I salute every female out on there grind no matter what it is they are doing in school working chasing a dream as women I dont think we get enough credit I dont think we value our selves enough, so I try to promote that on the daily. Those 2 songs kind of sum me up in a sense. I turn heads I get money and I handle my biz. Chocolate: Whats your opinion on female mcs today? Jaye My opinion on female mcs are its OUR TIME. I do feel like Nicki Minaj kind of opened the door back up for female rappers.. its alot of female mcs out...and it seems like one is born everyday. I dont feel like we need to sell sex in order to succeed don’t get me wrong its nothing wrong with showing your sexy, it just seems some of the female rappers don’t have anything to talk about anymore but sex. Don’t get me wrong women are sexy and I believe we can show our sexy side but some of these girls are coming out the gate selling sex. Chocolate Butterfli: Signing to a independent label how is the experience? Jaye: FIRST OFF I LOVE MY TEAM its one of the best moves I have made in a while..So u know the experience is awesome and we are just getting started, its like building something from the ground up. I love my team I believe in my team. When u have people around u that have the same goals the same visions it makes working with them enjoyable and worth it. Chocolate: What’s the next big move for you? Jaye: new mixtape that will be an all original project, with production from Triple H”s own Luciano out of Argentina. New Videos New Shoots New everything. I believe you should show growth in whatever it is your doing in life. Thats what im going to do this year show GROWTH.

Tha Lynks

is an American Hip-hop group comprised of members Larry Grady, aka “Legendury”, and Johnell Jones, aka “J-Frenzy”. Formed in Charlottesville, Virginia, Tha Lynks, working their way to the top, got their start at the former recording studio of fellow Charlottesville musicians, the Dave Matthews Band, known as the Music Resource Center (MRC). It was here that they would cultivate the musical talent and infectious sound that they would come to be known for today.Producing music together for over ten years now, Tha Lynks have had the privilege of learning from and working with some of the top producers and studio engineers in Virginia. That experience has led them to performances in every state on the East Coast, including New York and Massachusetts, where you can hear their music on the independent radio station 97.5 WNRC. Tha Lynks music is also being played on Raplord Radio, and the rap duo was featured in the April 2011 edition of Raplord Magazine, dedicated to promoting talented Rap and R&B artists on the come up. artists like themselves to gain valuable industry experience. That experience resulted in the duo being chosen by 106.5 The Beat, Richmond, VA’s #1 radio station for Hip Hop and R&B, as their sponsored artist at the Virginia Music Conference in Norfolk, VA. It was at this music conference that they met Virginia ‘s own singer/songwriter Teddy Riley, who was the keynote speaker. Riley’s personal advice motivated Tha Lynks to work even harder to pursue their dream. From there, the Hip Hop duo would go to participate in the 2013 Ten City Tour with Bubblelistic and Mindbolic Entertainment. Tha Lynks Unbroken Hip Hop

interview by: Ceo Chocolate

Ceo: What are the musical background of each artist in the group? Tha Lynks: Larry Legend: I started as a freestyler in middle school, by high school I became more serious about writing, recording, and producing as an outlet for the crime and violence going on in the neighborhood I grew up in. J Frenzy: I was introduced to hip hop and djing at a very young age, I was instantly drawn to it. Growing up in a small town of Dillwyn, VA with my older sister who was an MC and watching my brother mixing and scratching on the turntables, I automatically became a fan and respected the craft and culture and later started developing the skill of composing my own material.

Tha Lynks: VA Dreamin is definitely the song we say explains the story of Tha Lynks, where we come from and where we’re trying to go. Ceo: What are some of the accomplishments that The lynks has an memorable moment? Tha Lynks: Some of our greatest accomplishments include our motivational talk with Teddy Riley and our perfect demo rating at the VA Music Conference. Our work with No Limit Forever Records, and signing a 3 year deal with Famous Records/Universal Music Group.

Ceo: Being in a group is there more challenges than being solo? Tha Lynks: Being in a group has challenges because both people have to agree on all aspects of the music, as in where to perform, the music, finances, etc.

Ceo: What track explain the story collaboration of The Lynks?

www.unsignedmag.com

Ceo: Been together strong for 10 yrs who are some of your favorite producers? Tha Lynks: We definitely love all of the VA producers. We also like Kanye West, Drumma Boy, DJ Mustard, and Mike Will Made It to name a few. We would also be honored to have a chance to work with the pioneers in the game. Ceo: What are some of things you can share with other artist and fans that has been the reason your collab has last so long? Tha Lynks: We are focused on the same goal and we are like brothers outside of music and that’s what has kept our collab together. Ceo: Besides Virginia how far as your fan base reached? Tha Lynks: . We receive video views, fan page likes and emails from as far as Saudi Arabia, China, The UK, and Australia, and we definitely appreciate all the love we get from everywhere.

Ceo: How was the experience growing a fan based on your style of music? Tha Lynks: Building a fan base has had its difficulties because the old school/new school style of music we have created has had to catch on with the fans. Ceo: As an hip hop artists do you ever plan for plan b in life? Tha Lynks: Larry Legend: I have already written and produced for other artists, so producing and bringing out new talent would be my Plan B. J Frenzy: Personally I have always been into fashion and acting and definitely would like to start a clothing line or do some acting in the future.

artists we like to listen to are Drake, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and a few others

Ceo: Your advice to your young artist who want to jump into the music industry? Tha Lynks:The best advice we can give a young artist is to learn your craft, know your history, and have patience. Because nothing happens overnight. We have been working tirelessly for the past ten years and are just getting our recognition. Ceo: What are your opinions on some of the hip hop tracks that are hitting the air way today? Tha Lynks: Hip hop has definitely changed since we’ve been doing it, it had lost its feeling for a while but its starting to regain its purpose. Its a few of the new

Ceo:Your goals for the rest of the year? Tha Lynks: New music, New Videos, a revamped website, a Tour, and more Success.

native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Tyler Noel began singing at the tender age of five in the church choir. It was there at church that her passion and love for music would begin to grow. At the age of 12, Noel began her professional music career when she joined the girl group, Solo Tre. The group was signed to acclaimed producer Derek Baker, also known as Bigg D, who is known for producing Jamie Foxx’s hit, Unpredictable. After singing with Solo Tre for two years, Noel then joined the girl group Synphony, which was created by songwriter and producer Troy Bell. Within a couple years, the five piece group, Synphony had became a trio and by the time Noel was 18, the thought of being a solo artist was burning in her mind. Having been a lead singer most of her life and with years of life experience, Noel knew that being a solo artist would be the best move for her career. With plans to attend college, fate had different plans for her when she suffered a severe partially paralyzing stroke, which left her barely able to speak at the age of 18. For a while Noel began to doubt that she would be able to go to school, but the fighter within gave her strength to overcome a speech impediment caused by the stroke. Her determination, love for music, and support from her father, who she credits as her best friend, allowed her to prevail against the odds and continue her musical journey at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Ra-

With academic training , street crediability, and pure talent. Her infectious charisma cannot be combined into one box.Noel is inspired by the memory of her father, who passed 2007, and her life experiences in the streets of Florida. You can hear her story and passion in her music. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s uncensored, and it is truly powerful. To know Tyler Noel, is to know her music. It is there that she gives you light into her world. “I write and sing about my life and that’s why my songs are instantly relatable,” says Tyler Noel whose vocal idol is gospel icon Karen Clark Sheard. She also adores all genres of music ranging from Mozart and Bach, to Gwen Stefani and Sarah Mclachlan, to Donny Hathaway and Brandy. Sultry, sexy, and unadulterated R&B singer, Tyler Noel is giving you something real to listen to. The unsigned artist gearing up to sign with a major label has an album in the works and a new smash single “I Can Do Better” featuring a hypersexual duet with R&B sensation Pleasure P formerly of Pretty Ricky. The song also features the production artistry of Lil Ronnie (Brittany Spears, Bow Wow, & R. Kelly) Tyler’s story is bursting with up’s and downs, achievements as well as disappointments. “Singing is a source of healing for me. If it’s not real, how can I expect other people to believe it?” One thing remains constant to all who know and love her as family, friend, or fan: her sincerity.

Tyler Noel

“A Lady Singing True R&B” interview by: EssenceRayne Essence: When did you fall in love with music? Tyler Noel: I feel in love with music when I joined the choir it allowed me to reach my full potential and feel like I was really being me. Singing makes me feel the closest to what I think I was put on this Earth for. When I am singing, I just feel whole and I am able to release all my problems, my pressures, and even express my joys and loves. I have no idea where I would be with out music in my life. Essence: How was your experience with the girl group Solo Tre? Tyler Noel: It was a good experience for someone like me to have at such a young age. It taught me a lot about the business of music. Also, in a lot of ways it taught me what I did not want from the music industry also. Essence: Working with an acclaim producer so young was that experience tough? Tyler Noel: You know what, it was tough. There was a huge amount of pressure put on me at this young age to perform and deliver. It made me grow up quickly and it probably exposed me to too much at a young age, more than any young girl should have to witness or experience. I was no longer a sheltered child once I entered this business of music. This business can really make you are break you if you allow it. Essence: Singing in the group Symphony was the experience the same as Solo Tre? Tyler Noel: The experience was different then the previous group, I was now in a group with 5 members instead of three..And if you know anything about girls, it can go sour really quick and in a hurry. We made great music but we were really bad bandmates. I finally understood then why groups do not last in this industry..Its tough to please so many people and still leave room to please yourself.

www.unsignedmag.com

Essence: Through the tragedy you survive was there a song you had in your heart? Tyler Noel: For those that don’t know it, I survived a stroke at a young age. I was 18 years old at the time and it was tough because I was just really beginning to chase my dreams. The stroke happened and I thought my dreams were over but God is good and with Him in my corner, I was able to rehab and learn to do the simplest things like talk and walk again. The song that I think expresses me in this situation and coming out of it is “its Not Over” by Karen Clark Sheard. Essence Working with Pleasure P on your Single, was you hard on him in the studio? Tyler Noel: Working with Pleasure P wasn’t that difficult. We both recorded in separate cities, you know modern day technology allows two singers to never really meet. Everyone in the studio has to merge as one..the writers, the producers, the arrangers, the engineers, the singers, the A&R’s.. Essence: Who are some of the producers you working with for the upcoming album? Tyler Noel: I wish I could tell you but it’s a secret. My management has worked long and hard to put this cast together for the album and I’m proud of what he has done in such a short time and with very little resources. I will say this, these producers are some of the best in the business. Many of them have Grammy nominations or a grammy or two under their belts. The studios are some of the best on the planet and the sound coming out of them are crazy.

Essence: Your collection of music is very eclectic do they play a part in your music sound? Tyler Noel: Yes, I grew up listening to everything from Aretha Franklin to Mozart. Neighborhood kids would chase me home from school because I was so different in the choices of things that I would follow. I love all genres of music, is talent. I try not to box music into these categories because music isn’t one thing, it’s a collection of moments, sounds, feelings & experiences.

“Music is a business, yes I understand that, but I also want a family environment like I have with my management team now. Because I have that with my team, I am hoping to have that with my label also. I might just be asking for too much at this point, but a girl can dream.”

www.unsignedmag.com

Essence: So some of your music go back to your church roots? Tyler Noel: Yes, Church is my foundation when it comes to music. Many of my favorite singers are gospel singers to this day. My management has suggested that I do a Gospel album but I just don’t want any of my fans to get confused with who I am right now. I love Gospel but R&B is where I feel most comfortable. Gospel is just that make you feel good all over music. Essence: Whats your plans for 2013? Tyler Noel: I am aiming to solidify some financial backing in 2013 in order to continue putting out the best music I can. I want to expand my core base of real fans that support my music and I want to start touring and spreading my music to anyone that is willing to listen. I want to be signed to a label this year that wants nothing but to support me and see me succeed. I have been signed to indie labels in the past that really were not there for me as an artist and really cared more about the owners image then mines. What artist wants to be on a photo shoot and the owner has more outfit changes them?

At 16 years old she joined the Ill State Assassins. A hip-hop crew of talented emcees, producers, Dj’s etc. She broke down female and male emcees in rap battles. On the streets of the Chi, she did what she had to do to survive. Hustling is nothing new to Devilla. She did it because she had to, not to write a song about it. Duchezz testimony interview by: Kitten

Kitten: Who is Devilla Tha Duchezz? Duchezz: Duchezz is a hard working emcee and entertainer. A woman on a pursuant of her dreams to inspire the world with her words and wisdom. A mother and also a friend to many. Trying to set a example for her family to follow. Kitten: Do still battle rap? Duchezz: Lol. No, I've done more than my fair share. But if somebody want to get it. Feel free. INTENSELY READY FOR WHATEVER! Kitten: Did tragedy make your decision to your story musically easier? Duchezz: Yes, because it gave me something to tell a testimony of My life and the events that groomed me as a human being. As well as a emcee. There's a lot of lies and misdirection circulating in today's music. I tell my story. The truth hurts. Kitten:Being a single mo sometimes makes music a hard priority? Duchezz: No it was a great way to introduce what mommy does. My son has been in rehearsal studios, recording studios, shows and videos. Since he was a baby. My family helped out sometimes. It was a positive environment he learned from. He also raps himself and is pretty damn good. Not to bad for a single mom. Kitten: oining the ILL State Assassins at 16 how was the experience? Duchezz: It kept me out of trouble. It was a training experience because I was in a group full of men and I stood my ground. They expected me to handle my own. I learned how to be the best. Long story Kitten: Your thoughts on today female mc’s? Duchezz: I respect all my Ladies out here making it happen but the female rappers of today are not themselves. Its a few females that are true to the art with the rhyming, the voice and the passion. It's like if you not talking about your body parts and how well you can you can use them you want be heard. So I don't have a voice? Good music has no gender or age. So I'm not going to accept anyone telling me to rap like a girl. I hate that. Let me speak my peace and I'm out like it or not I gave it to you. I don't see that anymore. All I see is carbon copies. Smh. Long story short. Them my big brothers!

www.unsignedmag.com

“Thexy”
