MEDIATOR Architecture as an
INTERFACE
My exploration in architecture started right here in my country of Taiwan. Growing up on this beautiful island, I have come to marvel at its architectural complexities – a result of its recurring and devastating natural cataclysms. I have experienced the great destruction caused by earthquakes and typhoons, seen the countless temporary shelters for victims, and witnessed the constant rebuilding. It is this constant stream of unforgettable scenes of dilapidation and suffering that sparked my interest in exploring the relationship between architecture, extreme environments of both natural and political causes, and its refugees. I have always seen the architect as the "mediator" between human and nature – the person who use architecture as the "interface” to create gentle and smooth connections between the two extraordinarily different substrates. I have been searching for how best to reconcile this complex intersection by working on various projects that shown in this portfolio. While natural disasters and man-made destructions are neither
Fire in all of the Pacific Ocean, yet it is my country’s unfortunate location that inspired and cultivated my architectural adventures. I am determined to give back to this island and its people, as well as to the countless others who need a better mediator and an interface with their environment, whether natural or man-made.

In addition, the biodiversity and the unique environmental demands of animals and plants provided a possibility for us to build up the ideal circulation system. In order to collect the complete data of the environment and the characteristic of flora and fauna, we camped at the farm for more than 3 months, followed the local farmers with their daily routine and closely observed the interaction between animals and plants.

This is a collective thesis projects review publication book and exhibition, I was responsible for setting up the standard colors of the visual design and the template layout. I also had to design the cover, poster, and meeting with the printing shop. This book aims to present the domains among architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design projects. The most challenging task for me and my editor team was that we had to properly manage our time between 2 months before the final critic and publish the book 2

/ 2016
"Tectonic Becoming" is the most important architecture biennale in Taiwan. The main idea of this exhibition aims to discuss and display the relationship between architects, construction companies, and clients with 2 years. Each invited-studio is required to display both architecture drawings, photographs, full-scale models, and a detail section model. As the project manager and the editor of this project, I had to cooperate with all the participated companies as the structure, budget issue, we explored the possibility of the main frame material.
