This delightful collection features accessible Advent and Christmas carol arrangements for four ringers with piano accompaniment. Each setting is written for 8 bells within the 2 octave handbell range. Some of the tunes may be used with other texts that are usable during various times of the year. Since there are no bell changes, the four ringers can easily play these carols without requiring bell tables. Reproducible ringer pages are included. Spiritus Sanctus is inspired by Hildegard von Bingen’s poem of the same name. The poem speaks of the Holy Spirit giving life to all life, moving all creatures, washing them clean and healing their wounds. The ideas of life and movement are conveyed throughout most of the piece. The sudden grand pause (G.P.) represents the ancient sleep mentioned in the poem. The expansive middle section musically depicts the poem’s phrases, “washing them clean” and “healing their wounds.” The awakening of the heart is represented by the sudden burst of energy and unusual chord changes from measure 109 to the end.

Easy Favorites for the Handbell Soloist Volume 3

by Cathy Moklebust accompaniments by David Moklebust Calling all handbell soloists! As with the popular first and second volumes, Easy Favorites for the Handbell Soloist, Volume 3 features some of the best-loved handbell music of Cathy Moklebust arranged for handbell soloist and keyboard accompaniment. Several pieces can be played off the table or with a bell tree, and some can be played with only 2 octaves. The seven pieces span the church year, with the Advent and Christmas titles being the easiest. Parts for the soloist are included. The keyboard accompaniments are also available on CD, which may be purchased separately.

Come, All Ye Shepherds

Mitchell Eithun’s engaging setting of the German carol “Come All Ye Shepherds” is a rhythmic work that plays on the song’s short melody. The middle section uses suspended mallets and handchimes to offer a tender reflection before returning the driving main melody. This piece is a great addition to Advent and Christmas services. www.choristersguild.org

Reflection on For All the Saints

The grand hymn, SINE NOMINE by Ralph Vaughan Williams has been thoughtfully arranged by Cathy Moklebust. It features a beautiful original melody, optional handchimes, and also includes an optional part for violin or other C treble instrument. The majority of the arrangement is of a gentle, flowing style, that gradually grows to an exciting, moving final verse with a triumphant conclusion. www.choristersguild.org

Volume 1 Reproducible hymn arrangements for twelve bells, to ring the whole year through

arr. Jason W. Krug Levels 2 and 3 Jason Krug has given us a wealth of attractive and versatile hymn settings for twelve bells. The contents span the church year, and also include a number of titles for general (non-seasonal) use. Each piece in this collection uses only 12 bells within the range of F5 to C7; however, not every piece is in the key of F major, and therefore not every piece uses the “traditional” set of 12 bells. Since space did not permit traditional bell charts for each piece, instead we have included lists of the bells used for each piece.

Reproducible! This reproducible collection is designed to meet the needs of handbell ensembles by helping to stretch their music budgets. With the purchase of this collection, the original purchasing organization (church, school, or community ensemble) is granted permission to make copies as needed for their ringers. This permission to reproduce applies to this product only, and does not transfer to other churches or organizations.

Redemption

Alex Guebert’s exquisite Redemption beautifully portrays the scene of a Hebrew woman in exile, soothing her child with a lullaby. Unable to ignore her soul’s plea for the promised Messiah, the lullaby gives way to the strains of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. Through the urgent cries of the people, “Rejoice! Rejoice” resounds as a loud refrain. As the promised one arrives, another lullaby is heard. The two editions for 3 and 4-7 octaves are not identical but may be played together. www.choristersguild.org

Hymns for Twelve Bells

With no bell changes, your 3 to 6 ringer ensemble can go anywhere without tables to ring these majestic hymn settings in F major. The following classics are included in this volume: “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” (DIADEM and CORONATION), “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah” (CWM RHONDDA), “Come, Thou Almighty King” (ITALIAN HYMN), and “Praise the Lord! Ye Heavens Adore Him” (HYFRYDOL). This collection is especially useful and flexible for small choirs or ensembles.

Levels 2/2+ The purpose of this collection is to offer a wide range of performance options when you may have “more or less” ringers and could possibly use a keyboard to add fullness if desired. These reproducible arrangements have been set for use with or without keyboard and with or without bass clef ringers. They can be performed with 12 bells in the treble (from C5 – G6), or with the addition of the bass clef for a full 2-octave ensemble sound. The general hymn titles are perfect for year-round ringing in any concert or worship service.
