This exhilarating concert/festival original works equally well as an opening or closing number. Featuring a celebratory Latin text, it begins with a declamatory vocal introduction which then moves into high gear, showcasing driving rhythms and multi-meters in both voices and piano. The more legato middle section provides an interesting contrast before returning to the main theme, transitioning to an uplifting key change, restating the declamatory section and pulling out all the stops for a dynamic conclusion. Teaching moments abound in this exciting work for developing choirs.

This gentle original captures the mystical allure of a winter snowfall, reflecting on its crystalline beauty. It seamlessly moves between major and minor, with an option for a Soloist to be briefly featured toward the end of the piece. The cascading lines of the accompaniment add to the imagery expressed in the text of this gorgeous seasonal work.

Look no further for that unique multicultural programming gem - Gilpin's setting of this Middle Eastern folk song is bright and fun! The text, in classic Arabic, tells the story of a traveling salesman selling Indian muslin, taffeta and other pretty material and wares for women to purchase. The Arabic is repetitive, easily learned, and helps fuel the rhythmic feel of the melody and overall style of the piece. A pronunciation guide and translation are provided, along with helpful performance notes.

ABOUT

FROM CHORISTERS GUILD

Sing! is the educational choral line from Choristers Guild. Since its launch in 2015, Sing! has thrived as the fastest-growing new line of choral octavos for the school market. Mary Lynn Lightfoot is Sing!'s founding editor, as well as a noted composer, conductor, and clinician. She will continue to write for Sing! following her retirement as editor in 2019. We are pleased to introduce award-winning composer Victor Johnson as Sing!’s incoming editor. Victor has been guiding students of the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts since 2001 as a choral music educator and choir director, and he is excited to carry on Mary Lynn’s legacy of providing quality choral repertoire for teachers and students. Choristers Guild is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enable leaders to nurture the musical and spiritual growth of children, youth, and adults. Our mission is achieved through the publication of sacred, social justice, and school choral music, handbell and instrumental music, as well as providing educational resources and training events for choir leaders. Choristers Guild has celebrated 70 years, and our resources support directors in leading their choirs with confidence. Learn more: www.choristersguild.org.
