PAYMENT: We accept payment by debit card, credit card, cash or bank transfer (maximum payment by cash or credit card £1,000 per buyer per auction). COLLECTION: It is the responsibility of the purchaser to make collection arrangements. All purchased lots in this auction must be paid for and collected from Chorley’s salerooms by 5pm on Friday 7th February. Any items remaining after this time will be removed to storage at the purchaser’s expense.

FEES: Buyer’s premium (+ VAT at 20%) will be charged to the purchaser on top of the hammer price of each lot purchased, at the following rates: 22.5% (27% incl. VAT) on the first £100,000 15% (18% incl. VAT) on the excess between £100,000.01 and £500,000 12.5% (15% incl. VAT) on the excess between £500,000.01 and £1,000,000 10% (12% incl. VAT) on any balance exceeding £1,000,000 Artist’s Resale Right (ARR) derives from a European Directive and came into force in the UK in 2006. Living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a resale royalty each time their work is bought. The right only applies when the sale price reaches or exceeds the sterling equivalent of €1,000. The fee is calculated on a sliding scale and charged to the buyer as a percentage of the hammer price, and in addition to the buyer’s premium. ARR is not subject to VAT. Please note ARR is calculated in Euros and the auctioneers will apply current exchange rates. This fee is passed on by Chorley’s to the artist’s collecting society. Applies to lots with hammer value over €1,000 as follows: €1,000 to €50,000 – 4%, €50,000.01 to €200,000 – 3% €200,000.01 to €350,000 – 1%, €350,000.01 to €500,000 – 0.5% Exceeding €500,000 – 0.25%.
