rumpf ridiculed Chuck Schumer, Senate Democratic leader, who cried Sunday while condemning the Muslim Ban, during an Oval Office photo op with small business leaders, saying, “I’m going to ask him who is his acting coach.”

D

ress Secretary Sean Spicer’s daily briefing included a blatant brag about how many people watched Drumpf’s address live on Facebook and “liked or had other interactions.” He then shouted at the press about the National Security Council memos and slammed Senate Democrats for not voting for Drumpf’s cabinet nominees.

P

General asked Spicer during the daily briefing if there had been a specific threat imminent which necessitated the Muslim Ban to be enacted without proper timeframes or specific orders to those who would have to enact it. Spicer admitted that there was not - “there was no intelligence behind it.”

A

rumpf signed an Executive Order that for every regulation added to any agency, two had to be eliminated. 1 in, 2 out. All new regulations must add no cost, and in future years, there would be a yearly cap for the cost of regulations.

D

n regards to addressing why the President did not acknowledge the Jewish community as the most prominent victims of the Holocaust, Spicer said it was “pathetic that people are picking on a statement” and “ridiculous.”

I

cting Attorney General, Sally Yates, ordered the Justic Department not to defend Drumpf’s immigration order on the grounds that it was unconstitutional. In return, Drumpf accused her of having “betrayed” the Justice Department, fired her, and installed a lackey in her place.

A

he Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Republicans voted to approve Betsy DeVos, a woman who has never been in a public school or ever worked in one, never had a student loan, did understand federal civil rights laws, and doesn’t understand the basic metrics of competency in schools. In fact, she doesn’t seem to understand how to properly cite sources, something most school children learn in primary school as evidenced by her plagiarism in her answers to the committee.

T

he Drumpf Adminstration indicated that some of the temporary Muslim Bans are likely to become permanent. The new Homeland Security Secretary, John Kelly, stated, “Some of those countries that are currently on the list may not be taken off the list anytime soon.” Drumpf’s orders put a greater emphasis on deportation of immigrants who received welfare benefits and those who are charged with crimes but not yet adjudicated.

T

rumpf announced his Supreme Court pick, Neil Gorsuch - a man who ruled against the contraceptive mandate during the Hobby Lobby v. Sebelius case, claiming that so-called religious freedoms for a corporation were more important than a woman having access to contraceptives through her health insurance. He is also a vocal opponent of legalizing medically assisted suicide.

D

cting Secretary of the Army, Robert Speer, directed the Army Corps of Engineers to approve the easement needed to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline underneath the Missouri River. This is a full 20 days before the end of the comment period on the matter. Treaties, constitutional rights, sovereign rights, and the clean drinking water of 18,000,000 people will be affected by this action.

rumpf decided to use the first day of Black History Month speech to mention a few black heroes in passing, but mostly spoke about himself, how CNN is “fake news,” how much everybody loves him, and how well he did with the “black vote.” He called life in inner cities (where he seems to think is where all black people live) “terrible.” It was unclear if Drumpf was aware of who Frederick Douglass was, as he referred to him using a presentperfect verb tense that made it seem like he thought he was still alive.

D

epublican Senate Judiciary Committee members who voted to confirm Jeff Sessions, a man who’s spent his entire life opposing civil rights, on the first day of Black HIstory Month.

R

epublican lawmakers on the Senate Finance Committee changed committee rules to approve two nominees (Steve Mnuchin to be Treasure Secretary and Rep. Tom Price to be Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services) without any Democrats voting. In normal procedure, at least one Democrat is required to be present for quorum.

R

rumpf suggested that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell use the “nuclear option” if needed to get confirmation of Gorsuch for Supreme Court Justice. This would mean approval with 51 votes instead of the 60 that have traditionally been required in the Senate to break a filibuster. This is unheard of when it comes to a Supreme Court seat.

D

he House passed a resolution to nullify the Bureau of Land Management’s coal-mining regulation known as the Stream Protection Rule. The rule requires coal companies to fix the land after they’ve destroyed it, to the condition it was in before they began mining.

T

hen Press Secretary Spicer was asked if Drumpf would follow through on his promise to get rid of gun-free school zones, he stated that the President has been following through on all his campaign promises through Executive Orders and to expect more of that. It was unclear if he meant that Drumpf thought he could get rid of gun-free school zones through an Executive Order, or if Spicer didn’t know the answer to the question.

W

uring the White House press briefing, National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn threatened Iran with action, claiming that Iran had become “emboldened” due to lax treatment throughout the Obama Administration and the United Nations. He added, “As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.”

D

he Drumpf Administration declared that the Countering Violent Extremism program designed to counter all violent ideologies would be refocused and renamed to Countering Islamic Extremism. It would no longer look at groups of white supremacists who have carried out bombings and shootings in the US.

T

he transcript of a call between Drumpf and the Prime Minister of Australia was released. In it, Drumpf boasted about his electoral college win, argued with the PM about Syrian refugees that the US had committed to taking in from Australia, and abruptly ended his call after only 25 minutes, claiming it was “the worst call by far” of his day. He had also called Vladimir Putin.

rumpf started the National Prayer Breakfast opening remarks about how high his TV ratings were on The Apprentice and how they’ve gone down since Arnold Schwarzenegger took over. He then joked, asking everyone to pray for Schwarzenegger and the ratings. In contrast, Obama’s 2016 speech began with “Giving all praise and honor to God for bringing us together...”

D

rumpf declared that Christians were under attack in the country during the National Prayer Breakfast. He vowed to “totally destroy” the Johnson Amendment, which prohibits religious leaders and institutions from endorsing or opposing political candidates while retaining their tax-exempt status.

D

he GOP-controlled House voted to overturn a rule that would require the Social Security Administration to send records of beneficiaries qualified with extreme mental illness to the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System to prevent them from being able to get guns. In context, people who receive benefits because of mental illness are prohibited from cashing a check unsupervised.

T

rumpf told his female staff that they need to always “dress like a woman” while at work. Women on Twitter responded by showing themselves dressed for their varying jobs.

D

rumpf Advisor, Kellyann Conway justified the Muslim Ban with two alt-facts: first she said that the Obama Administration banned Iraqi refugees from entering the US for six months in 2011 and second, she made up a terrorist attach she called “Bowling Green Massacre” she claimed was committed by Iraqi refugees. It never happened.

n attorney for the government revealed that over 100,000 visas have been revoked as a result of Drumpf’s Muslim Ban. The reveal came out during a hearing in a lawsuit for two Yemeni brothers who arrived at Dulles International Airport, had their visas taken away, and were deported to Ethiopia rather than to Yemen.

A

uring the daily briefing, Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced that Drumpf would be working from the “Winter White House,” (aka, having a vacation at his Mar-A-Lago estate) this weekend.

D

he Press Secretary opted not to answer many of the questions posed at the briefing and took Skype questions from select “journalist” including one from a conservative talk radio show. The show host made sure to thank him for taking questions from people outside the “elite media bubble.” Spicer’s most common answers to all questions were “I don’t have information on that,” “I’ll have to get back to you on that,” “The President has been very clear on that,” and “I just said, I don’t have anything for you.”

T

he Press Secretary refused to answer some of the questions asked at the briefing saying that Drumpf did not want to “telegraph” his options. However, the President did Tweet his foreign policy at 6 am. Namely, “Iran is playing with fire - they don’t appreciate how ‘kind’ President Obama was to them. Not me!”

T

rumpf started signing Executive Orders aimed at removing financial service regulations that were enacted after the 20082009 financial crisis. Parts on the chopping block: 2010 DoddFrank financial oversight law, Customer Financial Protection Bureau, and a rule that requires financial professionals who charge commission to put their client’s interest before their commission. The Executive Order also puts two former Goldman Sachs executives in charge of reviewing and gutting rules. His reasoning

behind the Executive Orders, “I have so many people, friends of mine, who have nice businesses who can’t borrow money. They just can’t get any money because the banks just won’t let them borrow, because of the rules and regulations in Dodd-Frank.”
