We walk in front of the museum. Who decided the compensations of humanity? An illicit trade here, illuminated by a dark lantern old furnishings and the bustle of young men. This is a story of the biggest blow in a face that hadn’t drawn blood. Humanity’s footprints, packaged; fell. History vanished in the dark. The unlit basement had been unable to find them again. What had been taken (or “missing”) we know were 4,795 cylinder seals, 5,542 coins, glass bottles, beads, amulets, and jewelry; The Treasure of Nimrud, 1,000 pieces of gold, crowns, necklaces, rosettes, bracelets and precious stones from the eighth century BC. The Sacred Vase of Warka dated from 3200 B.C., the Mask of Warka the Golden Harp of Ur, the Bassetki Statue and the twin copper Ninhursag Bulls — Gone forever. Confusion. Frames fallen. Naked walls show above the center door to the main building is a large handwritten sign: ‘Death to all Americans and Zionist pigs’. A Sunni archeologist felt authorized to speak: “We had cried for help several times!” We, who have been forgotten. History thrown away by amerikkk. Now you know the US invasion killed the cradle of humanity.

Ryan Quinn Flanagan | Deserts Full of Sand and Never Themselves | poetry the bombers dive out of the sky like invisible war the curtains pulled over decorative eyelids of a heavy stitch patterned life and the closet has sliding doors as though William Blake had a hand in this mess the mudskippers and call display hypodermic needles into bloody arms the concept album and the photo album competing for tears and there are reasons men throw themselves off of bridges on a Tuesday morning never to be heard from again washed away easy as a mouthful of toothpaste and there is a reason big animals kill small animals and it is nice to think it is not just because they are small but things must be considered like the frying pan over the philanderer’s purple ducking head deserts full of sand and never themselves naval vessels in bathtubs of militarism the orange monks at temple lost in prayer or you over a glass of wine speaking brilliantly of everything.

(To my daughter on her birthday) Discrimination is alive and well.
Against minorities, on religious, racial and social lines, sexual preferences and gender orientation. This one, however, remains astonishing for its persistence and the sheer numbers. Discrimination against half of this world’s population. That is discrimination against Women. Subtle or obvious, it remains unrelenting and in some way, form or shape is always there. And yes it is still present in the most sophisticated of the societies. Be it unequal remuneration or receiving less aggressive medical care. Or as in still waiting for the first Woman President to lead this planet’s most advanced nation. A wait now for well over two centuries. Please try and explain this. As I hope that an American Woman President, the leader of the free world, shall inspire Women everywhere and further cut into this bias. It is time.
Resistance is Fertile The Talbot-Heindls, on top of being creative types, are also political animals who love the creativity and strength of the resistance movement. And we know that people have a lot to say about the current political climate. That’s why we created the compzine project Resistance is Fertile. Resistance is Fertile is a compzine for artists, poets, prose writers, or anyone else who has something to say about the current political resistance - fact or fiction.
